1. How does your animal obtain the nutrient?
Wood Frogs absorb water through the skin from a special spot that is on the bottom of the stomach and thighs.
2. Identify one specific use by your animal of the nutrient.
Water allows the semi permeable skin to stay moist which then allows oxygen to be consumed efficiently. If the skin starts to dry, the frogs will go back into the water. Unfortunately, if they don’t find a water source fast enough to moisten the skin, they will die. Along with oxygen, frog eggs don’t have hard shells, so they should be kept wet while developing.

How does your animal obtain the nutrient?
When underwater, the frog breathes from its skin. Its skin allows both oxygen and carbon dioxide to diffuse into the concentration gradient. When the frog is out of the water and on land, mucus glands keep the frog wet, which assist in the absorption of oxygen like previously stated.
A frog can also possibly breathe comparative to humans, it can take in air from the nostrils and then go into the lungs. Frogs also have a place on the lining of the mouth where gas exchange can take place (but only at resting).

The inhalation of oxygen allows the daily functioning of the frog’s body, whereas the exhalation of carbon dioxide allows plants to keep on functioning so they can produce oxygen for the frog.

The nutrients (carbon dioxide and oxygen) are exhaled and inhaled respectively through every breath the frog takes. Oxygen and carbon dioxide constantly exit the body to be released into the surrounding environment and vice versa. The process is in continuation until death prevails.
