Wreath Layer

Representing New Hampton Middle School at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers would be a huge honor to not only me, but my dad. My dad was in the Marine Corps and he could have been a guard. I asked him if he would have wanted to and he said it would have been the greatest honor he would have ever had, but he had a family that he needed to be with. To be standing on the same marble as thousands of others that have worked harder than ever to be guarding the tomb would be a dream come true for me. I am not that interested in history, but when we saw a video on the guards and what they go through in class I wanted to keep watching it. To be picked out of my school means more to me then people may realize and to me than I ever realized it would. Being one of the four people picked out of my school is an unbelievable opportunity that I would love to do. It takes a lot of respect and responsibility from someone to be out representing the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers and I think I have a great amount of respect and have always been responsible. Many people look at Arlington National Cemetery as just a historic place. It is more than that and I want to show people that it is by experiencing what it is like to do something for what may be a once in a lifetime chance. I push myself harder if it is once in a lifetime because it is a memory and a moment that does not need to be captured on camera, but in your mind and heart. I have heard the stories of many others that got to lay a wreath and now I want to tell my own. Everyone that I have heard from that have done it have absolutely loved it and they remember it vividly. I want to be a positive role model in public in front of many people and show them that our school is amazing and has amazing students. I will set a wonderful example for others to follow and see what New Hampton’s
