How to Become a Successful Person Knowing how to become a successful person is essential for every person. It gives him an easy way for a good living. The characteristics of a successful person is different for every person, it depends on how they view it. My view about a successful person is someone who has the right balance in happiness between family and career and is happy in who he/she is and what he/she does. The first thing to become a successful person is to have skills. A successful person needs to become the specialist in their job area, no matter how difficult the situation is. Next is to have self-confident, never look down in yourself, because when you do it, that's when you will fail. Passion is also an important need, because success can be obtained by many people, but maintaining the drive to reach the goals requires a passion to achieve it. Beside all of that, there is one thing that is hard to be earned. Why do so many of us fail to act? We know what we must do, yet we lack the will to do it. In another word, we lack of the courage. Success cannot exist without courage, many people who cannot be success are those who have the highest training and ethics, but lack of the courage. So what we need to overcome failure is having the will to act. A successful person is not afraid to take risk and make difficult decisions, and the important thing is they are ready to accept the responsibility of it. The next step to be a successful person is focus, creative, and optimistic. Why do we need to be focus? Because it is our drive that pushes us forward and keeps our momentum, but without focus we will just move for the sake of motion. Why do we need to be creative? Because when we stuck with the old ideas, we can make the new ones. And why do we need to be optimistic? Because, an optimist can see the opportunity in every difficulty, optimism is in the

...always believe in giving or receiving hope. The main character, Michael Oher, is an excellent example of this theme. Uncontrollable challenges and disregarding or abusing given opportunities is what ails America because it damages potential success. A person’s individual background can have a huge effect on determining if they have the chance to be successful. Michael Oher had a slim chance to become successful in a poor family When Michael meets the Touhys he states, “I don’t know where my mom is but I want to protect her and I hope she’s ok” (Lewis 58). This evidence also relates to a story about Maurice Clarett who states, “I grew up in a bad neighborhood and I had nothing to protect except my mom and my brother, that’s all I ever worried about” (Burke 2). Both Michael and Maurice were born into very poor living conditions but they never lost hope in what they wanted to accomplish. This is important because it shows that a persons background in life can sometimes determine how many goals a person is limited to, and with hope in being successful these goals are obtainable. Michael was given a small chance to become successful in life because he grew up in a poor neighborhood and could not get a good education. When Michael is talking to Leanne he says, “I never knew what it felt like to have a family and be surrounded by people who love me” (Lewis 100). This evidence shows that without the support he received from the Touhys, Michael may have never made it off the streets...

... Through a series of case studies, Gladwell insists that we have all too easily bought into the myth that successful people are self-made; instead, he says they “are invariably the beneficiaries of hidden advantages and extraordinary opportunities and cultural legacies that allow them to learn and work hard and make sense of the world in ways others cannot.” Gladwell defines an outlier as a person out of the ordinary “who doesn't fit into our normal understanding of achievement.” According to Gladwell, great men and women are made from having success with ability, opportunities to become successful with 10,000 of practice, IQ not being the only thing needed, and that everything comes down to generation, family history, and demographics of society. Gladwell is able to support them and give great examples on how things work out with a person’s life. “The Matthew Effect” examines opportunity as a function of timing. Canadian hockey players born closer to the magic birthday of January 1 reap advantages that compound over time. Computer programmers Bill Joy and Bill Gates, both born in the 1950s, have taken advantage of the relative-age effect to become industry giants in the 1980s. Gladwell claims that Mozart and the Beatles are not so much innate musical prodigies but grinders who thrived only after 10,000 hours of practice. Roughly, ten years is how long it takes to put in ten thousand hours of hard practice and hard work. Both Bill Joy and Bill Gates had...

Fear Of Failure

...There is more to life than success. Many people say achieving is when someone accomplishes a goal and it is but one must be able to achieve more in life when one is doing what they love and is passionate about. During the process of being victorious some people do and will go through tribulations. When one goes through those tribulations they can’t just give up. One must keep on going or like how Dory says from, “Finding Nemo” the movie, “Just keep swimming.” this quote is stating one should keep on going and do what makes one happy in becoming successful. A good example of achieving a goal is the story of Kewauna’s. This story talks about a young girl in which fails in the beginning of her life and after a while it hits her and she wants...

Personal Responsibility

...everything they do like their job, finances, relationships, school, and family. As children we are taught to be responsible, it is as we grow into adults that we learn personal responsibility so we can be successful for not only college success but for our everyday living success. Also personal responsibility occurs when one finally accepts the truth that they have to be responsible for their own actions. Most of the time when we make a mistake we find a way to point the finger at someone other than ourselves. Instead of pointing fingers we can accept responsibility by saying it was me, or I am sorry I made a mistake. This would make you a better person because it takes a stronger person to say I am sorry, than to put the blame on someone else. I would rather that person be in charge of things instead of someone that only cares about him or herself. I believe confidence is the main key to any success. If you have confidence in yourself you can achieve anything you set your mind to and it gives you the strength to say the things like I was wrong and leads you to succeed. Some examples of failing to be personal responsible are turning in my homework assignments late, cramming for a test at the last minute or running late. These are positive signs that you will fail to become successful. When we take responsibility for our actions it can help us clarify, which life goals are most important. This will help you achieve college success by understanding our values and...

A name does not determine whether someone will have economic success whether it is a name within the same race or a different race, the name does not determine who a person will be. A person develops into a successful or non-successful person by the way they are raised and what they have learned from it. While a name may not make someone, his or her upbringing has a major effect on how they turn out. A person’s name can give some insight to the types of parents an individual has. Success

...defined by the person defining it. The word success can be taken in several ways. Most learn at a young age that a people have to work hard if they want to be successful, and they spend a big portion of their life striving to become successful. Marketers make people believe that having heaps of money, living in a giant house, driving a 2014 Mercedes Benz, having brand name clothes and the latest technology is what a successful person looks like. For the average person, this is not often the case. Today’s economy and job market makes it difficult for someone without a college education to get a high paying job, and most people cannot afford college. To some success is measured by the amount of money they have; and to others success is measured by the amount of happiness or knowledge they have. My definition of success is someone attaining something that they want. In today’s world, people believe that if one has lots of money and fine luxuries that they are a successful person. In many ways, that is true. Money can make one’s life easier and more comfortable by paying for people to do things for them such as maids or an electrician when something breaks instead of doing it on their own. People work through several years of college to get a good high paying job, and having loads of money can be all one needs to feel successful. Money can buy any material item in this world and having nice new things can also make someone feel successful. It may make someone feel successful when they...

...a lot more in the high school curriculum. In today’s society, as you get older, your original sense of your childhood creativity begins to disintegrate. We become unwilling to use our capabilities out of the fear of being wrong. As you get older the basic school subjects of math, science, literature, and history are defined and expanded on in learning then using one’s personal creativity. Most education leaders push students to use their methods in order to become successful in the student’s education. Unfortunately most students miss out on what their creative aspects in which can make them successful down the line. Speaker, Ken Robinson, demonstrates a great speech that indicates that society needs to be stressing creativity just as much as your typical education. “Children are all artist”, says Ken Robinson. We as humans are naturally born with a sense of imagination. When children are first learning how the world works, they will creatively think of reason why it works the way it does. For example when you are first teaching a child about subjects like religion and the weather we may come up with or they come up with things like thunder is God going bowling. These reasons make for a less scary idea, and also provide children sense of knowing, and containing knowledge. A child’s favorite word is always why. It becomes a lot easier for a child to creatively think of their own reasoning’s why when they imaginatively think of reasons things happen. When a child is growing up...

Leaders vs Managers

...Leaders vs. Managers Leaders vs. Managers In the business world, it is often asked if you are a leader or a manager? There are many people who do not even realize there is a difference between the two. The differences are so vast that it is important to realize what they are so one can decide what they will become as they graduate college and enter the business world. One might argue that it does not matter what you are, as long as you get the job done. This might be true but to be successful and develop a career, it is vital to determine what you might think you succeed at. According to Dictionary.com, a manager is defined as “a person who has control or direction of an institution or business.” There are many managers in business and a variety of types of managers. The different types of managers are problem-solving, micromanager, laissez-faire, passive, proactive, and presumptuous (www.linkedin.com). The problem-solving manager is the type of manager who is always putting out fires, in the middle of chaos, and always on the run. A micromanager is very heavy fisted and always demanding progress while also using threats. Laissez-faire managers have no real managing style and almost appear, as they do not care. Personal Responsibility

...who we become. Taking on personal responsibility does not mean everything will come easy or that you have control over things that may happen, it means you can make better choices on how things turn out in your life. As a child, we are dependent upon our parents to hold our hands as we progress into our teens. Sometimes it becomes difficult to move forward without being a victim to change.
