His dad told him, “get your engineering degree, then you can do whatever you want.” Chris chose North Dakota State University, because it was within 10 miles of his house, and they are known for having outstanding engineering and agricultural programs. Another reason Chris liked NDSU is because it wasn’t a huge school. But it wasn’t as small as a private college. NDSU had roughly 12,000 students whereas the U of M had between 40,000 and 50,000 students. The class sizes weren’t too bad either. The actual engineering classes had between 20 and 50 people. But the more all around classes like biology, chemistry, and calculus could have up to 300 people in an auditorium. I asked Chris if he had gotten his AA done before he went to NDSU. He replied with a “No. That was not an option for me in highschool.” I asked him if he would recommend getting it done before going to NDSU. “It would definitely save you money, but freshman year is when you will meet a lot of your friends. Granted, some will drop out or switch majors, but that is when I met a lot of my buddies.” Chris said the social life at NDSU was pretty cool. The school has been getting more attention with the football team being 5 time national champions and being broadcasted on ESPN. So there are more people going there now. One of the great advantages in working in a university which has top students is that you can ask them questions you are not quite sure how to answer yourself!
