...Organizational Objectives and Total Compensation in Different markets Sergio Herrera HRM/324 July 3, 2013 Dr. Donald Duvall Organizational Objectives and Total Compensation in Different markets In an attempt to attract and retain good employees, companies may offer the benefit of retirement savings options. Employers have the option of sponsoring benefit and contribution plans to eligible employees. It will also discuss how beneficial the plans may be for participants. Some Federal and State laws are valid and do have an impact on compensation inside an establishment and taxes that are applicable on income. The method which an organization uses to fix the salaries and benefit plan of employees depends on the outline that is provided by some federal and state laws. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 is directly linked with The Fair Labor Standards Act and it forbids dissimilarity between salaries of male and female employees employed at an identical position (U.S. Equal Employment). Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 is another law which controls issues like pension benefits, retirement plans, disability, and health insurance schemes (U.S. Department of Labor). Defined benefit plans is a fixed amount set up for eligible employees for retirement. This plan consists of employer contributions either quarterly or annually. With these plans the employer decides to pay a secure quantity to the worker's pension account every year “When markets rise, the employer will reap...

...Companies with similar changes. The two companies I picked up for comparison were Nokia and Motorola. There reason behind choosing these two companies is that both the companies were taken over by some big heads in the technology market, Microsoft bought Nokia and Google bought Motorola and it was happened almost at same time. So I believe this would be the best comparison that I can do from the recent times. When Microsoft acquires Nokia then it started releasing products with the name Microsoft in place of Nokia, for example Nokia Lumia is one of the best model in phone sector but after acquisition mobile phones were releasing in to the market as Microsoft Lumia. That was the huge change happened to Nokia in recent times. When Google bought Motorola with in few days it was sold out to Lenovo, of course there was some business strategy behind this drama regarding some patents and licenses hold by Motorola. The main change we can observe in both of the companies is the change in management. That’s what makes me to do research on this topic with lot of interest, and also as I came from IT background, I use to follow these topics regularly and that turns in to my course project topic. ...New Health Medical Systems Memo HRM 548 March 9, 2015 New Health Medical Systems Memo Memorandum To: New Health Medical Systems Management From: Human Resources Date: March 10, 2015 Re: Staffing Strategy A thorough review and evaluation has been taken over the new staffing strategy presented in regards to changes to the New Health Medical Systems Corporation. The company is seeking to strategize a plan that will take the company in a new strategic direction. Rivenbark, (2004) stated that the human resources employee’s role includes, acquisition, assessment, development and retention within the organization. (p. 1). Since recruitment has presented a challenge within the local area, we may need to consider a wider and very diverse demographic in order to fill those positions. There is the option of utilizing social media outlets and radio outlets. Social media and radio outlets have a farther marketing reach. In addition to the media outlets, one may need to consider the outlying areas where there may be talent that fits our criteria. Once the ad goes viral on social media and the media plays the ads on the air; this will open the door for employee referrals. One important thing to consider is that if the audience that the media reaches does not have a need for the position, he or she may know someone who does. If this is the case then we can pay employee referrals. The referral amount should be large enough to entice the referrals to apply, which will assist...

...Running Head: ALIGNMENT OF HRM AND BUSINESS STRATEGIES 1 Alignment of HRM and Business Strategies Name Professor Travis Davidson Strayer University HRM 530 – Strategic Human Resource Management January 22, 2015 Propose how you would ensure the HR strategy is in alignment with the business strategy. In order to ensure the HR strategy is aligned with the business strategy, HR needs to be proactive. It is HRs responsibility to identify the necessary skills to do the job and successfully recruit, promote, and evaluate based on those skills. According to the VP of the Center for Workforce Preparation at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Beth Buehlmann, she says that 75% of today’s workforce will need additional training “just to keep the jobs they have today” (Morden, 2013). Every company’s HR strategy needs to have a vision which is a picture of the anticipated future, a mission that is strong and convincing, goals that lead to the achievement of the needs and wants, strategy to achieve those goals, and initiatives to implement the strategy (Wheeler, 2012). Describe the HR job position and the responsibilities listed for that HR department. The Marriott HR department position is headed up by the HR Coordinator. This position is responsible for supporting recruitment, training, benefits, payroll, performance appraisals, and career development. ...A job description is is a tool to help identify task, performances, responsibilities and duties of a position. It is a guide for employees to follow that identifies an employer expectations. Therefore, job descriptions are very important and should be taken seriously. The greatest asset of a company is the people(Moskwa, 2016). Major plans will take effect prior to and during the transition phase of KS Cleaners. What’s more important to our transition is making sure we have great employees that can help make this a smooth transition. Therefore, we have created a strategic plan that have organizational structure and a standardized job description that everyone must follow. Similar to what we are doing currently we will start to make sure everyone who become an employee learn the proper expectations of their job. So, we will be looking into performance planning, development, performance execution, performance assessments, and performance reviews(Aguinis, 2013). First, the job description will be standard for all locations. I will recommend this because if any employees need to work at either store they will be successful. It is important to get in a routine but also leave room and understanding that things can be subject to change for best practices. The lack of good employees a business will deeply suffer. The use of a consistent job description format is essential to growth. Second, organizational change will require a strict strategic plan that all employees must get...

...Chapter One The paper-thin walls of the tiny examining room seemed to be closing in on Laura, as she sat semi-nude on the cold hard table waiting for the doctor to return. It seemed like hours had passed since the nurse had drawn her blood and sent it to the lab for analysis. She glanced down at her cell phone for what seemed like the millionth time, and took in a loud disgusted breath when she realized that it had only been twenty minutes. Looking anxiously around the room, she wondered precisely what the results would show. Surely, there had to be some reasonable explanation for the way she’d been feeling. But what could it be? The longer she waited, the more these questions seemed to invade her mind. There had to be a logical explanation for the shortness of breath and the exhaustion she’d been feeling. As a nurse, she knew the possibilities and as was her habit, her mind ventured immediately to the worst case scenarios and images of tumors and cancer filled her head. As the wait continued, Laura’s active imagination self-diagnosed the nervous young lady with a myriad of terminal illnesses, each new disease worse than the last. If she did not stop herself soon, she would be planning her own funeral. Realizing what she was doing to herself, she viciously shook her head from side to side as if this would clear the negative thoughts. In an attempt to disrupt the self-defeating train of thought, she picked up the lackluster magazine from the windowsill near the bed. ...

...The risk Scott is taking includes falsifying information on paperwork that Matt has not actually completed. Furthermore, this is unethical behavior, since Matt never watches the videos, which makes the paperwork Matt signed false information. After reading chapter 3 the text states, HR department should be at the center of the 4 critical areas. Also, HR should be directly involved in this situation because Scott did not follow any of the 4 critical areas on the lists on page 54. This was not the first time Scott did this with new employees, he always advises the new employees to just sign paperwork without completing the information that was instructed by HR department. However, Scott can careless if the videos are watched he is just worried about getting the orders filled to customers that have been waiting. In the meantime, Matt is already working without watching the videos, and what if the videos had information he needed to know before he starting working (Ghillyer, 2014). Scott is well aware of the routine that all new employees must watch the videos. There is no justification as to why Scott wanted Matt to skip the videos. Per the article, Scott states due to the department has been short staff he needed to fill these orders that have been waiting due to Matt’s position has been vacant for a long time. What was Scott doing within the department that gave him such a backlog? Although, that is really not Matt’s problem that Scott department had been short staff and orders...
