The first narrative activity that fits under standard five: Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership would be My Personal Learning Network (PLN) Assignment. In this particular assignment I was asked to make a Twitter and LinkedIn account. Twitter is a free online website that allows its users to connect with anyone who has an account. You can share ideas, videos, news, or pictures. As a teacher Twitter can be very useful in contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community (5d) because you can connect with other teachers and gain ideas and lesson plans off of them. In the Web Hunt activity students are given the task of solving problems and questions using helpful internet website. A Web Hunt uses tons on educational websites that promote student and teacher learning. Teachers participate in local and global learning to explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning (5a). Teachers can creativity link certain websites to the activity and have the students explore each website for the answers. This gives the students the free down to look and critically think when it comes to solving the questions on the Web Hunt. Teachers can also work alongside the students and exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others (5b).The teacher and students collaborate on the same material while in class. In the future classroom I plan on integrating technology into the classroom by having a Web Hunt so students can become familiar using the internet as well as learn how to use technology while in the classroom.
