Critical thinking is the capacity to evaluate an idea, to formulate and solve a problem, or make a decision in such a way that the whole thinking process has been done in a proper way to be successful.
If thinking is just a normal and automatic action that brain does at any time, critical thinking is what makes the difference between person to person. There are various levels of critical thinking, and everything is depending on how the thinking process get involved with personal emotions, different culture, evaluations, and the ability to refine the process, by removing bias, errors, imperfections, personal feeling end.
Very interesting and useful to use during the different day to day scenarios and work experiences, are the steps to evaluate, get a conclusion and refine the solution to the problem.
Refining is one of one of the most important steps to determine the solution to a problem and it can spell the difference between success and failure. Working out the details by checking exactly how the solution will be applied; finding imperfection and complications and making improvements are the three steps of the refining process. People tend to simplify to much the refining process because they think the solution has been already found, however, paying attention to details, remove bias and be critical in the proper job, is very difficult sometimes, but is also very worthwhile.
At the beginning of this class I located myself at the stage of practicing thinker, but now, knowing the techniques to remove personal emotions while thinking, understanding when I am right and when I am wrong, analyzing and refining my own thinking and work done, I am sure I am moved to the stage of advanced thinker.
I do understand where emotions might limit my critical thinking and in somehow understanding that my emotions can control my critical thinking, however to become a master

Personal Reflection Paper

...Saturday, May 19th 2012 Hum/111 – Instructor K. Moore Week 9 Assignment: Personal Reflection Paper Critical thinking is when you use logical thinking process to evaluate things such as decisions, readings and much more. Critical thinking is developed as a person ages and the brain is introduced to critical thinking skills in order to effectively form the final tool of critical thinking. It may not be used as much if a person doesn’t employ the skills that they have been taught. How critical thinking differs from the usual thinking is the fact that there is depth. The three most significant things that I learned about critical thinking during this class are that it aides’ creative thinking, helps you better analyze things and it impacts the decisions you make. Creative thinking is aided by critical thinking because it assists in the thinking department and helps get the juices flowing when it comes to creating ideas because you have to evaluate them to see if they are worthy. Analyzing a situation wouldn’t be the same if you didn’t have critical thinking to help. When analyzing an idea or decision, critical thinking helps you answer those what, when, why and how questions that require an answer. Critical thinking impacts the decisions you make because if you don’t think critically you may find yourself in a whirlwind of confusion and frustration. When you are using critical thinking you will either get a positive result or a negative result. If you get a positive result...

Professional Sports Industry Changes for the Future

...Table of Contents Future of League Drafts and Age Entry…………………………………….4 Changes in drug testing policies in professional sports…………….7 League Finances……………………………………………………………………..9 Player Safety…………………………………………………………………………..11 ABSTRACT Professional sports are leagues that are made for the best of the best athletes in sports. Once a player leaves the collegiate level of sports and moves into the professional level, he is now competing every day for his job. Owners try hard to build their team from the ground up. When a team is struggling, owners try to find new solutions to bring in team revenue and on the other hand when a team is successful owners try hard to keep players by offering large contracts that they can afford. To keep order on teams, leagues have strict drug testing policy that keeps players healthy and allows the playing field to be fair. Leagues make changes for the better of the players and the fans. In order to market effectively leagues do what it takes to allow more access to the fans by using technology. Commissioners take notice on feedback from players and fans in order to make the sport safer to play and fun to watch. When watching a professional sports game, we do not see the orchestrating job of the league commissioner, team owners, and players. From players entering the league at a young age from college, they need to be ready to compete for their position and take in all the rules the league hand out. Super star players carry...

...Hum/111 Mid Term Axia College Material Appendix A Midterm Exam * Access the Week Four Electronic Reserve Readings located under the materials section of your student website. * Read this week’s Electronic Reserve Readings. * Write a paragraph of approximately 100 words for each section listed below. 1. Using the critical thinking skills you have gained so far and referring to the materials provided for this assignment, identify two possible strategies that Thomas Hutchinson or Samuel Adams likely used to develop and improve their thinking as those historical events unfolded prior to taking a stand and acting according to their beliefs. A strategy that they used would be a maintained critical attitude throughout the problem solving. When using a critical attitude and maintaining it can help improve your thinking skills. This is crucial because improving your thinking depends on the habits and attitudes of others. When problem solving this involves careful observation, interpreting, evaluating, and more, which can be difficult if distracted by emotions. The second one I think they may have used would have been Summarizing. Summarizing can help a person visualize all key elements. Samuel Adams may have used an analytical process. He assessed both sides of the issue and all consequences of their actions before he planned what he would do. 2. Explain the importance of building a foundation for critical and creative thinking when evaluating historical...

Contrast Analysis

...Introduction The focus of the present thesis is the passive voice, perceived from a semantico-syntactic point of view. My primary aim is to explore the use and functions of the passive voice in English, examining the reasons which motivate an author to prefer the passive form to the active one. Secondary interest is devoted to the function and the use of the passive voice in Czech. As research material I have chosen the short stories by the American writer O. Henry and their Czech translations by Stanislav Klíma. The reasons why I have chosen the genre of a short story are that it is noted for the unity of time, place and action. I believe that due to this fact, the results of my research will give higher evidence of the use of the passive voice since the basis for comparison is unified and compact contrary to, for example, a novel. For the same reason of evidence, I explore just the translations of one translator, since everyone has his/her personal style and different way of thinking and understanding of original text. I am interested in the issue of information packaging, especially in the different ways of expressing one and the same reality in the two languages: when both active and passive versions are formally permitted, what factors favour the choice of one over other? The passive voice is a phenomenon which is involved both in English and in Czech but in unlike extent. As far as I know, the passive voice is a favourite means of expression in English whereas in Czech...

Telemedicine

...Papers ................................................................................................................................. Keynote presentation Q Telemedicine support for the developing world Richard Wootton Centre for Online Health, University of Queensland, Australia Summary Telemedicine has been used for some years in the industrialized world, albeit with rather mixed success. There is also a considerable literature on the potential use of telemedicine for the developing world. However, there are few reports of the actual use of telemedicine there. A review identified five telemedicine networks providing second opinions; each network had been in operation for over five years. Although they have different aims and methods of operation, they exhibit some common features. In particular, none of them appear to be dealing with markedly increasing referral rates. Rough calculations suggest that only about 0.1% of the potential telemedicine demand from the developing world is being met. Possible reasons include the referrers being too busy and a perceived loss of control. If this analysis is correct, then the right strategy for future telemedicine in developing countries will be to concentrate on the construction of within-country networks that demonstrably alter health outcomes, can be shown to be cost-effective and sustainable, and will provide a model for other countries to copy. .............................................................. Telemedicine...
