One argument that Daniel Dennett brought up in his book Brainchildren: Essays on Designing Minds was “Robots are purely material things, and consciousness requires immaterial mind-stuff”. In its latest version, it stands four foot three inches and weighs one hundred nineteen pounds. The body is made of magnesium alloy covered with a plastic resin. That makes ASIMO light weight and durable. It has a walking speed of 1.7 miles per hour and a running speed of 3.7 miles per hour. It can climb and descend stairs as well navigate slopes. Ninety children (across 3 age groups: 9, 12 and 15) interacted with ATR’s Robovie in 15-minute sessions that ended when an experimenter interrupted Robovie’s turn in a game.
