...Observation of Humming Birds Observation: When taking a hike, you notice that a ruby-throated hummingbird seems interested in your red hat. It hovers over the hat and then darts away. Question: Do ruby-throated hummingbirds prefer some colors more than others when visiting flowers? INTRODUCTION: There have been a number of researches and experiments done when it comes to ruby-throated hummingbirds. The ruby-throated hummingbirds are the only hummingbirds found in Northeast United States. They have great color vision, like many birds, and can see ultraviolent spectrum, unlike humans (1996, All About Birds). PREDICTION: Ruby-throated hummingbirds do prefer some colors other than others when visiting flowers. CONTROL EXPERIMENTAL METHOD: I will conduct a control experiment with 10 ruby-throated hummingbirds, using red, yellow, orange, and purple flowers. I will observe the Hummingbirds over a period of 5 weeks. I will then take pictures of the birds 10 times a day, to see which flower they prefer. RESULTS: In this experiment, I found that the ruby-throated hummingbirds prefer the red and orange flower over any other color. They flock to the red flower, by 1% over the orange. I feel that orange is a close color to red and if the hummingbirds does not get a chance to get to the red flowers, then they will flock to the next best thing. CONCLUSION: Based on this experiment, I accept this hypothesis. I do not feel that there is a need to conduct...

Most of the time he would ignore them, but every now and then he would stop, turnaround, lift up his hairy face and growl at the kids, rrrrrrrrrrr. And they would all start running. And if you were brave enough to look back, you could see him smile for a brief second. One day while Mr. No face was sitting on the park bench a little freckle face boy walk up to him as he sat humming the national Anthem. Mr., what is your name, the little boy said. Philip Malloy was not suspended for “singing. “She’s wrong. That’s all wrong. No way I’m apologizing.” (Avi 74)That shows that Philip had a chance to apologize and not get suspended, but he still didn’t apologize.“He has been suspended for two days-effective today-for causing a disturbance in Miss Narwin’s class.” (Avi 88i)That shows that Philip was suspended for creating a disturbance, not for singing.“Miss Narwin: Did you have to suspend him?” “Dr. Palleni: The rule two infractions in one week.” (Avi 90)That shows that Philip already went to the Vice Principle twice that week, both for infractions....

This only digs my holoe deeper that it wasn’t Mrs. Narwin’s doing or opinion that got him kicked out of school.“Anyway, I got this Mrs. Narwin. She’s a real b*tch….” Pg 52 Why would a ninth grader speak like that to an adult, during the 1900’s, unless he didn’t like the person, in fact despised, them. This proves that Philip does not like Mrs. Narwin at all. This next issue makes you think a little bit more. “Is someone humming?” Pg 60.This proves that Philip was humming disrespectfully during the national instead of what singing like he claimed he was doing.Philip went out of his way to make a fool of himself and annoy his class and teacher to try to get out of Mrs. Narwin’s class.“I don’t know the words.”pg 212. This proves that Philip was humming because he says he doesn’t know how to sing and “singing” without the words is called humming , which is different from singing. If he had known the words it would have been a benefit to his testimony, because he could have proven that he did know the words and was rightfully singing that he was singing the national anthem, there then proving that Mrs. Narwin was guilty of...
