To start off, Scieszka uses sarcasm to brag about himself in the essay. “...I’m sure my brothers would want me to point out the amazing fact that I am the winner…”. He uses this form of comedy because he knows most of us with siblings could relate to his sarcasm. Of course his brothers wouldn't want him to brag about winning to them!
