The purposes of this paper are (a) to describe how the open-ended knowledge construction and communication tools TEE (The Electronic Exercise) and EF-editor (Exercise Format Editor) can serve socialconstructive language learning from a distributed cognition point of view, (b) to report how TEE and EF-editor have been used in a foreign language classroom with 25 seventh grade students for creating a Web-based tourist guide to London, and (c) to present the results of an evaluative study investigating the benefits and constraints the teacher and students experienced through this learning scenario. Finally, these results are discussed with regard to the heuristic value of distributed cognition for technology-enhanced social-constructive learning-scenarios. The main issue raised has been targeting the “horse meat scandal” which has been a major talking point amongst the British public since the media began making it such a relevant topic. This issue is mainly down to the supply chain link between the raw materials supplier and the retailer. An example of this is frozen foods company Findus having to recall a large amount of its lasagne meals due to their supplier Comigel raised concern that its products didn’t “conform to specification” (Bowling, 2013). Tests were performed on the products supplied by Comigel and out of the 18 products tested they found 11 to be containing between 60 and 100 percent horse meat traces (Bowling, 2013). Another good example of the horse meat scandal in the media is with Tesco supermarkets. Tesco’s everyday value frozen burgers which used meat supplied by Silvercrest Foods (Hegarty, 2013) were tested to analyze the percentage of meat in each burger. Out of the 27 beef burgers that were trialed 10 tested positive for horse DNA and 23 positive for pig DNA (Hegarty, 2013). Jesus is the central focus of attention and worship in Christianity, and is held by most Christians to be the Messiah, foretold in the Hebrew Bible or “Old Testament”. They believe him to be the savior of mankind, and the son of God. However, in modern times, the use of critical scholarship in analysis of the Bible and to the New Testament Gospels in particular, has lead to an accelerating rate of disintegration in the traditional Christian belief system. The term "scholarship" implies the application of the scientific method of the evaluating evidence on the basis of objective standards unhindered from any personal involvement or biases. The main source of information on Jesus is from the Christian Gospels. Some scholars claim that the sources on which the Gospels are based were written within the living memory of Jesus' lifetime. There are four such Gospels the earliest being Mark (68-73 AD), followed by Matthew (70-100 AD), Luke (80-100 AD), and John (90-110 AD). Many conservative Christians accept these writings as evidence for a historical Jesus and as an account of his life and death. To do so, I model how criticism continues to help me become a better writer. Earlier this year, for example, I shared a draft of one of my education feature articles, which included detailed feedback from an editor at a prominent media company. I asked my classes for advice on how to address several edits, dealing with sources, transitions, terminology, and structure. A few days later, I directed my budding writers to the much-improved final draft. This easy but worthwhile activity helped more of my students feel comfortable receiving criticism, and not view it as an affront. As a result, they improved their writing by taking the time and care to consider and respond to reader insight. I want my students to feel secure in the knowledge that nobody is beyond criticism (even their teacher), and that the bigger challenge is developing the good sense to acknowledge and successfully respond to feedback.
