The differential diagnosis associated with this type of dyslipidemia are; hypercholesterolemia, Mixed hyperlipidemia, and other and unspecified hyperlipidemia (Tharpe, Farley, and Jordan 2013). Comparing the above lab results with the normal range of total cholesterol: <150mg/dL. The patient’s risk factor for cardiovascular accident is high, therefore diet modification, life style change and lastly medications should be added if the above proved unsuccessful. Diet modifications. Reduce saturated fat, eliminate trans-fat such as hydrogenated vegetable oil, read labels and avoid food that has saturated fat. Consume soluble fiber, fellow Mediterranean diet, eat less meat, eggs, and dairy. Increase fish and vegetable in the diet, increased intake of monounsaturated fat such as olive, avocado, and almonds. In addition, palm oil and coconut oil should be consumed in a moderate quantity (Tharpe, et al. 2013).
Medications
Medications: 800-1000 Omega-3 supplement one tablet orally
