In the passage “I am Adam Lanza’s Mother” by Liza Long, the author showed how the perception of the ill minded children should not be tossed to the side. I believe that the main idea of the passage is to understand the world’s problems towards the ill minded people and correct it because, people have to accept that we have ill minded people, give ways to correct their problems that have outstanding solutions in their life and show emotion to them in their time of need. With people not really understanding the problem they will react with violence in a second. The author wanted to give a clear message that we as a people should come together and help each other under any circumstance.
To begin with, the reason I believe the main idea of this article is to understand the defaults of the ill minded and help not hurt because, we must first accept that they have a problem. To understand anything u must first show that u acknowledge it, children with illnesses must understand their right and wrongs. On ( pg 38) the author says “No one wants to send a thirteen year old genius who loves Harry Potter and his snuggle animal collection to jail.” This shows that at the first mistake that they make we can’t just lock them away for problems they can’t help. This is like sending someone to jail for a committing crime they didn’t know was a crime or was brought to them. We should first tell them and show them that it’s other ways to correct a problem than to just yell and shout at people.
