John presents a very different Jesus compared to the synoptic gospels. It is clear that for John Jesus has many complex elements to his personality and without all of these the picture is not complete. The above quote by Käsemann suggests that in the gospel of John Jesus’ divinity is definite and his presence is felt on the entire world through his words and actions. This allows for the human Jesus but implies the divine Jesus is imperative. The divinity of Jesus Christ is something that is very apparent in the gospel of John. Käsemann’s quote describes Jesus as a ‘God’, which offers an immediate insight into the ‘high Christology’ of Jesus in the gospel of John. The divine Jesus far outweighs the human Jesus. These statements gave special insight as to who Christ claimed to be.[2] These statements were of such importance and could be understood by the Jews that many times it led the Jewish leaders to be outraged and want to either arrest Him for blasphemy or even stone Him for blasphemy. ...Another Country Ever since I was a little boy, I wanted be a student athlete in America. I was just a young child from Australia with a dream. It was all I wanted: it was plan A, B and C. However, this determination and dream blinded me from reality, and now that I am here it is a real shock to the system. It is not all glitz and glamour like portrayed on television and in movies. Being a student athlete in another country comes with a lot of struggles. As student athletes, we are always told that student comes first, and it is true that in order to maintain my spot on the team, I have to perform in the classroom first. For the average students all they see is that I am on the basketball team, and the perks that come with that. People do not see just how demanding the lifestyle is: all they see are the rewards that come with being a student athlete, and it creates assumptions. Fellow students assume that everything is handed to us: people see me falling asleep in class and assume that I was up partying the night before, or people see me missing classes for games and think that I am lucky, but they do not see the extra work and time I have to put in to catch up.
