...I Believe I believe everyone should stand up for what they may believe in. Standing up for what you believe in can get you many places in life. It is a great thing to do even if you are standing alone. Because if you are the only one speaking out there are many more sitting in silence. I decided to stand up for my teammates this year because my coach was giving unfair treatment to her players. She had been ignoring them and rolling her eyes at them. And being one of the many on the team I decided to ask her about it and all she could was give me an answer that had nothing to do with my question of “What do we need to improve on as a team to get proper treatment?” Her response was “try harder.” Well we were trying our hardest n practice to get her attention while the people she joked around with jogged during punishment and laughed with her. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. I went and talked to the head coach who set up a meeting with all three of us. The meeting went well and my coach cleaned up her attitude a little bit. But now the head coach is not in anyone’s favor on the team. On our playoff shirts she wrote “OLC” on the back which stood for our last chance. What she was clearly implying was that we do not have a chance and she has no faith in us. And having a coach who doesn’t have faith in you makes you wonder if she even cares about the team. And on top of that she almost got the whole basketball team killed by parking on the railroad tracks. We thought...

...605 I Believe In my “this I believe essay”, I stated that I believe that everyone deserves a chance. A few have a feel other beliefs that are not mentioned. They are that respect shouldn’t be earned to give it, and no one is too young to be responsible. This has kind of developed recently, well one of them. I have always believed that everyone should respect each other regardless, however responsibility should come at any age. However my biggest belief is that everyone deserves a chance. In my future profession, I plan on either becoming a store manage/director for a Hy-Vee store, or to become an athletic director for some sort of institution. Whether it is a college or some school, as long as I stay in the midwest I’ll be content. For the most part, to acquire jobs like these ill have to be kind hearted, and organized with the job. On top of those, ill have to learn to work with people, employees or customers, be able to give up hours outside my job, and know that I can’t quit on a certain task until the job is completed. There are plenty of reasons why I chose this. I have worked at Hy-vee since I was fourteen years old. Since then, I have been given plenty of chances to learn new things, and have acquired a number of skills to make me a better person. The reason why I have chosen this as my future occupation is probably because some of the people you get to meet on a daily basis. I am a very social person, and I like being nice whenever I can. Every moment that I am at...

... I Believe I Am A Child of God At the young age of eighteen, my life was changed in a drastic way. Through out my childhood and teenage years, my mother and father tried to force God down my throat and not till this life changing moment did I realize why. I could have been living a worldly life striving for popularity, having expensive things, and living in sin, but I chose to be a follower of Christ because he gave his life for me. The first day of high school, boy was I worried. Would I make friends? Will anyone like me? I need to make sure I have only the coolest clothes and latest handbag, if not people wont like me. I forced my mom to take me to the mall weekly, practically to Nordstrom and Saks Fifth and spend hundreds of dollars so that I wouldn’t be the loser wearing last seasons clothing. My choice of style helped me gain a high level of respect at school because people wanted to be just like me. This made me happy to know that I was cool and fit in with the popular clan. I began to disrespect my family and bully people because I let worldly desires get to me. My world came crashing down when my parents stop giving in to my excessive shopping, and people began to criticize me for being popular. My family and closest friends would call me “a spoiled brat” and other names. Normally, these types of actions keep you high on a pedestal but not for me, I in other words was kicked to the curb. Sunday morning, “Lorraine! Wake up! Its time for church!” I hated...

...southern Ohio. For nineteen years now, I have looked out to the same beautiful scenery when I look out my bedroom window. My backyard is covered with rolling hills, filled with the greenest of trees during the hot summer months. Surrounding my home is the most stunning fields of corn that tend to look even more magnificent when the sun sets behind them, accentuating their golden color in the fall. Throughout my whole life in this rural town I call home, I have heard how know matter where you go in life you will return home in the end. I could not disagree more with that typical belief. Growing up in a such a serene and tranquil place has truly been a blessing in disguise. I have always had the best family I could ask for. My parents have always supported me in all that I have done and my two sisters are my best friends. That love and support never wavered, not even when I made the decision to attend college at a university that was 4 hours away. I went to a high school where I could recognize each face I saw and lived in a neighborhood where everyone graciously waves at everyone. Few people in my hometown strayed away from the things they had grown accustomed to; however, growing up I was always knew I was different than the rest. Since a young age, I was always attending multiple different summer and sports camps and staying overnight with friends and family for weeks at a time. I love home and the people here but when I graduated high school I viewed it as an opportunity to leave...

...I believe corporate greed will cause long-term failure. One of the largest professional situations that did not end successfully due to wanting exorbitant commission profits, ultimately resulted in losing a significant customer. While working as a branch manager at our company, I was the lead in selling a hot beverage program to a convenience retailing chain representing 45% of net revenue for that division. Within two years of signing the four-year contract, we abruptly lost the business ultimately resulting in almost closing the branch and the loss of ten jobs. Upon realizing my mistake, it was too late and the customer had a well laid out exit strategy for switching to a competitor. All things considered, poor pricing structure, lack of marketing, and complacency were all key drivers for our shortfalls. We tried to side step the loss by quickly growing revenue and reallocating resources, but it was too far gone. We put in place a quick-to-market growth strategy to try and save the division by replacing the lost revenue to no avail. In either case, the future was imminent; I would have to downsize jobs and other expenses to sustain the division. Not only did our branch lose the largest customer but also ten key employees. Ironically, our department would now become the most underperforming in the company in regard to profitability. At the present time, this single event has immensely impacted my management style. I clearly recall lying awake at night contemplating...

...I believe that working in fast food is one of the best first jobs you can have. I have this belief because my first job was at a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) restaurant in the 1980’s when I was 16 years old. Fast food restaurant workers – They have difficult working conditions, deal with every segment of the American population and are poorly paid. Like most people working in fast food, I worked the job in fast food not by choice, but necessity. I looked for jobs at clothes stores in the Mall and the movie theater and the pet store and every other “cool” place to work as a teenager, but the economy was depressed in the 80’s and no one was hiring teenagers. I figured out that if I wanted to make money to put gas in my car, I was going to have to work fast food. KFC hired me to work 4pm to midnight for the summer at minimum wage. My days off were Monday and Wednesday because these are the slowest days for most fast food restaurants. Fast food restaurants are built in areas that are busy and make their profit because of volume -- You never see a fast food restaurant that doesn’t have lines. The KFC restaurant I worked at was busy because it was the last fast food restaurant before you got to the beach in Ocean City. Car loads of people from Baltimore and D.C. dressed in flip flops and shorts, stopped to pick up a bucket of chicken to eat on the beach. Car loads of sunburned people stopped to pick up a bucket of chicken to eat in the car on their way back to Baltimore...

"the rainbow after the rains days.” How can we see the rainbow that even without experience of hardships. The days was tough, but the days will be sweeter than honey. ...I believe in the power of words, I believe that words can destroy us or cure us. Last year I had witnessed my best friend sinking into depression because of the bullying she received from people in school and her boyfriend cheated on her. It pained me to see her like that, but then she started spending her break time in the library and therefore isolating herself. After a while she was getting better and started seeking help. When I asked her why, she said that she read somewhere that “life damages us, everyone, we can’t escape the damage, but we can be mended. We mend each other‘’ It puzzled me to see how words from the society put her down but at the same time a few words mended her. Then I started noticing stuff, for example you turn on a TV and you watch people crying or laughing because of one person holding the microphone. Furthermore the most important job of a leader before a war is to shower his soldiers with words of hope and to rise their spirits. Another example is that Shiekh Zayed Al Nahian , the founder of United Arab Emirates, built a nation 50 years ago and united his people by strong determination, vision and words to reflect that. I believe that the only strong weapon all the leaders have is the power of words, whether they used it to drive their nation to war and their destruction or to unite their people and build a nation. I believe that a word is like a living organism that never dies; even Shakespeare once said in his sonnets that he will always keep...

...they always miss their target. I peek under my shield of cover to find myself face to face with the littlest enemy! I yell and take off running in fear of what I have seen. Bullets are flying and my partner has been hit. I know not to turn around as I know what I will see. She is gone, she is now a zombie. She is now on the other team. BING, BING! “Pause, Dinner is done” I yell from under the kitchen table. “Oh mom!” My three zombies all say almost at the same time. “Sorry guys, even zombies have to eat dinner and your dad will be home soon. I’ll get dinner, y’all clean the living room” I tell them as they are walking into the war zone, which was ones our living room. As I turn to finish dinner, I think about all the rainy Saturday afternoons that we have spent playing and laughing and just pretending. I believe that playing and enjoying your kids while they are little is what life is all about. I believe that by playing with Mitchell, Cheyenne, and Nicole I will forever be young. I believe that playing with Mitchell my oldest child is helping break down the barriers. It is hard rising a teenager, and Mitchell is almost there at eleven. We don’t pretend much anymore but this morning is different. He is up bright and early this nasty Saturday morning. ...It kind of sucks that someone’s survival isn’t as “important as money”. I’ve so many times, “Money is life,” ”all I need is money, then I’ll be happy”, or “I’ll give you these chips for a dollar.” Can you believe that, the only way you can be happy is if you have money? I mean, c’mon what about the Earth itself, or you’re family, food, pets, or true friends, what are those just there for distraction of your unhappiness caused by not having money. Money can buy survival, but not happiness. “Money can’t buy happiness, but it can make you feel awfully while you’re being miserable.”- Clare Boothe Luce. Insurance. If you are ill in a hospital, for the hospital to be able to help you, you need insurance a.k.a money. That’s horrible, that’s exactly telling someone, “ I’ll keep you alive, if you give me money.” That should never even be considered, that’s so inhumane. If people were just considerate, kind, and never did anything in the intention of getting something in return, the world would have one less problem. A couple of times I’ve said that I don’t like money, and every time I’ve said that the reply was but you like things so you like money it’s something that has to make you happy. It makes me mad, because those people say that, saying money makes them happy, but I see them spending it like it meant nothing to them. If money truly makes you happy you’d keep it and not give it away like it was a piece of gum. Would you give away your family, your...

...I believe in accepting yourself for who you are and what you are. Everyone in this world struggles to understand themselves, especially when it comes to gender. There are so many confusing and even wrong ideas out there about what is right or wrong for a man or a woman. Starting when you’re first born, you’re supposed to wear a certain color beanie and blanket depending of what gender you are. Then, later in life, your choices about who and what you are always determined by your parents or legal guardian. This also goes for toys, clothes, hairstyles, and so on. But in our early teens we start forming a need for independence. We wish to move away from our parents as soon as possible because we get tired of hearing their ideas about how we should live. Am I right? Most of you guys have thought about this when arguing with your parents. Maybe you just really want to leave home. I ain’t gonna lie; at some point I wanted to leave, I even told my mom I wanted to leave and I even called her “Bruja!”. Immediately, my mom took my backpack, threw everything out and packed my clothes and toothbrush. She leaned forward with a serious face and said, “If you want to leave, then leave, but once you pass through that door don’t dare to come back!” When I heard this, my heart dropped in that split second. I even burst into tears and quickly apologized for what I’ve said. That was the last time I ever disrespected my mom like that. So we see that it’s not easy to be fully independent of...

...Throughout the play Blanche compare’s Stanley’s behavior as animalistic. In many different situations throughout the play Stanley prove’s Blanche’s Ideal of how he acts as an animal. I believe that this is true based on how blanche describes him in these situations. The first instance where Stanley show’s how he act’s like an animal, is in the opening scene of Blanche Stella and Stanley all being together. In this scene he throw’s a piece of meat at stella as if he is an ape. Stella seem’s to show no regard to Stanley’s behavior. Blanche on the other hand is completely shocked and cant imagine anyone treating her sister that way, especially her husband. Blanche waits until she is able to get Stella alone and confront’s her about the situation. She says “ He act’s like an animal, has an animal’s habits....yes, something ape like about him, like one of those pictures I’ve seen in anthropological studies!” (74). This kind of behavior is foreign too Blanche and she cant understand how or why anyone would want to be with someone who acts in this manner. I completely agree with Blanche’s thought’s toward’s Stanley because there is no reason why any husband should treat their spouse this way. Even though it might have been more common in New Orleans at this time for men to be above women in a sense, I see no reason as to why a husband would throw meat as his wife and expect her to take it without question. The next scene in which Stanley is showed as a reference to an animal is on...

...Every Second Counts Making a car sound better is worth the money. I bought a 2004 Ford Mustang two years ago. I kind of would like to make it faster by adding on aftermarket parts but don’t have a lot of money to do that. So my dad and I saved up some money to get a new exhaust for my car. We don’t have a whole lot of experience on adding parts to cars, but we know how to work with tools. To start, we jacked up the car so we could have room to work. After we sawed off the old exhaust I said “There is no turning back now.” Next, I tried to unscrew part of the exhaust still remaining and man the screws were really tight as if they were welded on there, so my dad had to say “What are you too weak?” Then comes one of the hard parts, we had to bolt the two mufflers into place around the middle of the car. I had to hold them up so they don’t pull and bend the pipes going into them, as my dad put the hangers into place that held them up. It felt like I was holding up the car that they were so heavy. Afterwards, we had to put pipes into to the mufflers that lead out to the back. That was the hardest part of it all. Putting both of them in took a better part of an hour. Finally, the best part of it all, lower down the car and turn it on. The deep throaty sound echoed throughout the garage, it sounded beautiful. In summary, cherish every second that you get to spend time with your parents. Life is short and could become even shorter at any...

... Shepherd tied with Showing Mercy. I completely agree with the results . I agree because I am a very compassionate woman. I love people and also willing to help those in need. I am able to sympathize and empathize with people who may have problems that others might feel uncomfortable with. I am also a very good listener. I love to share the Gospel with others and bring the lost to know Jesus Christ. I am truly blessed to have these gifts that God has given me. PART TWO: Specifically, how can you use your gifts at this time? How might you misuse your gifts? Be specific. There are many ways I can use my gifts today. In my Church there are people who often come to me to “unload” what’s going on in their Lives. I am always there to listen and give them the best advice I can. I show mercy by going with a group from the church to visit the ones who are shut-ins and letting them know that we care for them and that they are not alone. Outside the church I volunteer for Domestic and Sexually abused women’s shelter. I do a weekly Bible study and I teach some of them how to cook. I soon will be taking the required training to be a Christian Counselor. I also post Scripture, Devotionals, and prayers on my face book page. There are many ways I can misuse my gifts as well. With being capable of earning trust quickly, and empathizing with people, I need to be very careful with caring for males. I could easily be fooled into thinking...
