...How to be Blessed by God James 1:12 We all seek a blessed life. We might not use those exact words. In fact, we probably don’t. Today people talk about the “fulfilled life” or the “happy life.” But the meaning is the same. Question 1. What is it that everyone wants out of life? Answer: Happiness Lest we think that answer light or flippant, here is the second question and answer: Q. 2. Where is this happiness to be found? A. In God only. Here is a basic conundrum of life. We all by nature seek happiness. Some people think they find it in the things of this world. Late last night I was flipping through the TV channels when I happened upon a broadcast of Billy Graham preaching in some great crusade a half-century ago. As the camera panned the crowd, you could hear Dr. Graham say, “You will never find peace, you will never find joy, you will never happiness apart from Jesus Christ.” What a claim we make! I heard just that little snippet, but it stuck in my mind. What a claim we Christians make! We not only say that happiness comes through Jesus. We say that the only lasting happiness comes through him. We flatly declare that there is no ultimate peace or joy or fulfillment in sex or money or power or fame or degrees or buildings or gold medals or big estates or anything else that money can buy. Wealth can do many things, but it cannot buy peace of mind. Fame can do many things, but it cannot give us lasting joy. Power can do many things, but it cannot free us from guilt...

Abraham Yakubu FREE: NOT TO BE SOLD A free gift from GENNESSARATE VICTORIOUS MINISTRIES WORLD OUTREACH INT. 08065649039, 07026094045 PREFACE CONTENTS CHAPTER 1: INTROUCTION I was born into a moslem family in Iheima, Kogi State, Nigeria. My name is Yakubu. My brothers are Karim and Lamidi. I know that many of you have been in the work of the Lord before I was born. Even when we talk about being an Evangelist or Pastor, many of you have been Evangelist or Pastors long before my mother gave birth to me. This morning, God Himself address me and explicitly said, “Abraham, don’t celebrate yet.” The message I heard from God deeply touched my heart. It is on this very message from God we shall talk about this morning as I address you, a minister of God who has been serving God for a long time: you, who have just started in the ministry with God: and you may even be born-again and so carelessly living your own life without God. The Lord is saying that we should not glory yet. That in this ministry, we should not say yet, “I am competent”, “I am somebody”, or “I have arrived”; except we see the end of the work. It is not just to finish the work, but to finish well that matters. That is, when the owner of the work takes us to His...

...Relaying my own experience is easy: I had a standard classroom approach, supplemented by inordinate reading. In only the briefest and least memorable instances did I receive any individual tutoring. Education is commonly thought of as the job of schools. Adults cry "educate our children!" Everyone has opinions about the best way to do the job. It is of urgent importance, and all the numerous factors are much studied, debated, and new (or old) ideas continually tested or retested. Some people say "it's as simple as . . . " and then name their pet peeve or passion. My view is not of an education specialist, but of one who loves sharing what I learn, and owes much to educators. Since I don't have an educational theory neatly worked-out, nor an outline of my perceptions, my intent is to address each educational ingredient that comes to my mind. After I've said what I think about each topic, readers may have a fair comprehension of my philosophy. First comes sensitivity. If a person be insensitive, be it from numbing cold, exhaustion, drugs, genetic makeup, or upbringing, then the process of education is bogged down, and results come only after great efforts. Sensitivity in my integrated meaning is broad, covering literally the senses, so that deaf and blind people are less sensitive, as well as people whose senses work perfectly, but whose receptivity or thought processes are blunted for whatever reason. A person can be insensitive in one way, such as blind, and extraordinarily...

...CHRISTIANS part 2 -Ishaku Abdul'rahman Mohammed Dear Nigerian Christian, If you saw my first letter you would have known that I used to be a Muslim but now a Christian. I have been in hiding because, anyone born a Muslim and converts to Christianity has a death sentence on his head. It is even worse now that they know I have decided to reveal their hidden agenda to the Nigerian Christian who stupidly voted Buhari, a known jihadist as president. In that letter I told you about the subtle ways president Buhari is going about his islamization agenda. In this part I will explain, with Islamic teachings why our president is making some of his moves without caring about the feelings and sensibilities of Christians in Nigeria. So much has happened since my last letter and God willing, I will continue to educate you as things unfold. Please pray for me cause the forces of darkness are arrayed against me for telling the truth. And if you ever hear that I get killed don't weep for me. Just know I have finished my race and am with the Lord Jesus. The same Jesus I rejected all my life as Muslim. The same Jesus I called a prophet of Allah who is a little lower that the false prophet Mohammed. To Jesus alone be all the praise, glory and honor for saving me from the satanic cult called Islam. I now worship this same Jesus and will do so till is expire. Have you noticed that whenever any Christian, occupying a high position in any government agency is removed only muslims get...

...friends, and play sports for the school. I couldn’t imagine meeting someone who would want to hurt me as bad as he did, and it took me five years down the road to realize it’s time to put yourself first and open your eyes. What’s happening to you isn’t normal. He walks into class, I immediately have this attraction, and something about him intrigues me. I flirt and show him I’m interested, I’m surprised he showed interest back. I’ve never expected a guy like him to be in a long term relationship. This is where trouble begins. I’ve made enemies. Being this young, harmless and innocent I know thought having people not like at this age was a thing. Not only now have I ruined a relationship but it’s the beginning of a life I never saw myself living. It’s been a year now, everything between us is great and never felt anything more real in my life. I’ve come to find out that he’s more experienced with thing you thought were inappropriate at this age, thing’s I knew I was not exactly ready for; but the “love” I had for him was so powerful not giving myself up to him didn’t seem right at this point, “Why not give this a try, when I can already see myself with him for a while if not forever”. Sounds crazy right? Fourteen years old and I already think I’ve found my soulmate. After thing’s got intimate the “love” grows stronger; we’re both starting to become jealous, trust is being questioned, not because of me, with him. Every which way I turn I hear that he’s touching other girl’s behind...

...this week, identify one religion that you find the most interesting. Explain your response. * Explain at least three ways that social trends affect the formation of new religions and dictate new religious movements. The one religion that I found to be the most interesting is Jainism. This one was not only the most interesting one, but caused me anxiety. This is a religion of non-violence, and promotes peace of the world and peace within the self; and this is what I don’t have a problem with. I wish all religions were like that! What caused me anxiety is the amount of self-discipline and training. They are, what I think, the purest religion in the world. They don’t eat animals, they don’t even eat underground vegetables OR smelly vegetables (Onions) because a lot of microscopic insects are attracted to them and are killed when cooking them. They pray before and after they go to bed, for the sins that were committed and are about to commit; because the air that we breathe has microscopic organisms, and they sinful for killing them. Also, they don’t eat during the night, because without the heating rays of the Sun, many insects develop in the raw foods and die during cooking. It sounds like an awful way to live, yet humbling at the same time. In the book, three ways that social trends affect the formation of new religion is; Ethnic Identity “Except for the Africans, every race or tribe in the world has its own spirituality and religions. The Jews have kabbalism, Indians...

... It was on my volition and indeed I alone will suffer. It seemed so right for me to accept for I cannot bear the thought of my brother leaving his other half. I knew better. It was the only way I could save us. We were orphans yet royals. I knew I was stepping in the enemy’s territory, I knew I submitted to what they wanted, I knew. I knew. I have to save them. One Year Earlier “Are you ready yet your highness?” I heard Linda, my personal maid said as she opened the door of my now former room. “Linda, don’t call me that, you know very well you’re not entitled to that anymore.” I snapped at her as I pull my long black hair into a ponytail. I kept my hair long for royalty purposes but now I have to keep them long for personal reasons. “Please your highness, yours is the only royal family here. I vow to respect you forever as long as I live even after that.” She was blabbing. “Linda you don’t need to. My brother and I are practically being thrown out today. And the new royal family will be settled here in no time then you will have resumed your duties by then.” I said with full composure trying to hide the pain that was. My brother, Howard, and I will go to exile. Even though we are the true offspring bone of the royals of the country, we didn’t have the power to protect ourselves from harm. The family who will sit now was the family of the prime minister. It was the prime minister’s plan all along. His family didn’t even have a royal blood let alone a royal bone...

Leonardo explains, “The only way to get back to your world is to talk to Satan and ask for the way back, I have to wait out here, for no one in hell can ever see the devil, unless they want to suffer even more than they already are. I will leave you here, and I will wait until your return.” I slowly walk toward the door that behind holds unspeakable horror. I do not know what to expect what to see, but I know that I may be able to get help. So, I entered into the lair of Satan. The second I open the humongous door a wave of heat runs straight at me. I realize I am so hot, that my skin is boiling, yet I do not feel any pain from it. I continue on and I see a horrible looking creature. He welcomes me with a loud roar. I can’t see...

...College Essay Cancer is something you don’t really take seriously until it hits close to home. You might hear stories of cancer here and there but what can you really do about it? Nothing, nothing until you or one of your loved one has it. When that’s the case you want to search the world for all the unanswered questions you have. Cancer might be a common disease among the population but it isn’t common once your loved one has it. My story begins with my birthday, however, this specific birthday was not the day happiness. On this typical school day, I couldn’t wait to get home and wait for all the wishes my family was going to give me. My fifteen-year-old self on the side curb waiting to be picked up by my father to take me home. As I get...

...September 2012 I've done several types of work over the years but I don't know another as counterintuitive as startup investing. The two most important things to understand about startup investing, as a business, are (1) that effectively all the returns are concentrated in a few big winners, and (2) that the best ideas look initially like bad ideas. The first rule I knew intellectually, but didn't really grasp till it happened to us. The total value of the companies we've funded is around 10 billion, give or take a few. But just two companies, Dropbox and Airbnb, account for about three quarters of it. In startups, the big winners are big to a degree that violates our expectations about variation. I don't know whether these expectations are innate or learned, but whatever the cause, we are just not prepared for the 1000x variation in outcomes that one finds in startup investing. That yields all sorts of strange consequences. For example, in purely financial terms, there is probably at most one company in each YC batch that will have a significant effect on our returns, and the rest are just a cost of doing business. [1] I haven't really assimilated that fact, partly because it's so counterintuitive, and partly because we're not doing this just for financial reasons; YC would be a pretty lonely place if we only had one company per batch. And yet it's true. To succeed in a domain that violates your intuitions, you need to be able to turn them off the way a pilot...

...In my argumentative essay I am choosing to write about the subject of the death penalty on prisoners. This is a very touchy subject to many people but it should not even be discussed at all. It should not be something that we have to worry about or even argue or fight about. This subject is about whether certain prisoners should be executed instead of being given a life sentence. There are many different opinions on this subject but I believe there is only one correct one and I will explain the to you in this essay. The death penalty should be allowed to be given to prisoners and convicts who rightfully deserve it. The death penalty is simply killing those convicts and prisoners who are convicted of crimes where they are given the death penalty. The form of the death penalty used today is lethal injection. It is...

Yes, if a criminal does something against the law, they most certainly should be locked away, considering when dealing with people who have a mental disorder, isolating them for the crimes they commit will not truly help them change to prevent future mistakes. The fact is spreading around like a wildfire about how poorly treated a vast majority of mentally ill are- especially within prisons. But nothing seems to be getting accomplished about this issue. Although, in a few places...
