...1/20/14 Misleading 100 As usual, I sauntered in the hallway, dreading getting to my American literature class. Mrs. Fisher announced to the class, “Your next assignment is a research paper on an individual that had a great impact on Black History.” As soon as I heard the announcement, my heart beat increased and my palms began to sweat. Literally, I dropped my face on my desk and whispered, “God help us all; I’m about to fail this class.” I had a gut feeling that the assignment was going to be difficult and time consuming. Immediately I imagined the many hours that I would have to assert on the assignment, and the thought depressed me. Little did I know that doing the assignment would bring me one of the greatest surprises of my academic life and taught me that the writing process can’t be rushed. Mrs. Fisher paced back and forth in front of the class room as she explained how someone inspired her to become a teacher. At some point I stopped listing and was on the verge of dozing off. Suddenlty my attention snapped back to her as her words “I get to assign you the person to do this essay on” pushed themselves into my consciousness. Up this point I had thought that we can pick our own person and had settle on Martin Luther King, Jr. Mrs. Fisher proceed to assing different historical figures to different students while the fear of not getting MLK creeped over me. Finally, Mrs. Fisher said,”Santiago Torres, MLK.” For the first time in that class, I felt hopeful. 3 days later we had...

...Interview Questions and Answers! Reference: WomenCo. Lifestyle Digest, updates@m.womenco.com 1. Why do you want to work in this industry? Bad answer: “I love to shop. Even as a kid, I spent hours flipping through catalogues.” Don’t just say you like it. Anyone can do that. Focus instead on your history with that particular industry, and if you can, tell a success story. Good answer: “I’ve always loved shopping, but my interest in retail marketing really started when I worked at a neighborhood boutique. I knew our clothes were amazing, but that we weren’t marketing them properly. So I worked with management to come up with a marketing strategy that increased our sales by 25% in a year. It was great to be able to contribute positively to an industry I feel so passionate about, and to help promote a product I really believed in.” 2. Tell us about yourself. Bad answer: “I graduated four years ago from the University of Michigan, with a Bachelor’s in Biology – but I decided that wasn’t the right path for me. So I switched gears and got my first job, working in sales for a startup. Then I went on to work in marketing for a law firm. After that, I took a few months off to travel. Finally, I came back and worked in marketing again. And now, here I am, looking for a more challenging marketing role.” Instead of giving a chronological work history, focus on your strengths and how they pertain to the role. If possible, illustrate with examples. Good answer: “I’m really energetic...

...Sometimes I get emotional, maybe shed a few tears. My mom once told me that real men cry, then again, I think she was trying to make me feel better. Whether or not she was just doing her motherly duty and being nice it’s not a bad idea, I know first hand if you bottle up all the sadness you hold, eventually you’ll break down and it will not be pretty. Let me help you out, friend. Once you get that one tear out, it’s get easier. As we go on to the topic of the poem, “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe, the narrator has gone through some things, most likely things you haven’t gone through but if you can relate then this poem just might be for you. Some people say the raven in this, symbolises a certain thing. Whether it be sadness, depression, happy,...

...Question 1: Why Do You Want To Work For Us? I'm not looking for just another pay check. I enjoy my work and am proud of my profession. Your company produces a superior product/provides a superior service. I share the values that make this possible, which should enable me to fit in and complement the team." Question 2: What interests you about this job? When you're asked what interests you about the position you are interviewing for, the best way to respond is to describe the qualifications listed in the job posting, then connect them to your skills and experience. That way, the employer will see that you know about the job you're interviewing for (not everyone does) and that you have the qualifications necessary to do the job. For example, if you were interviewing for a Human Resources Manager job where you would be responsible for recruiting, orientation, and training, you will want to discuss how you were responsible for these functions in your past positions, and why you are interested in continuing to develop your expertise in Human Resources management. Another example would be if you were interviewing for a Programmer / Analyst position. In that case, you would mention your interest in learning and excelling at new technologies, your experience in programming both new applications, and your interest in and your ability to problem solve. In all cases, you will want to convey your enthusiasm for the opportunity to interview, along with your solid ability to do...

...Jason Drago Professor Bhargave Marketing 4093 24 February 2015 Thinking Fast and Slow Thinking Fast and Slow is a book written by Daniel Kahneman. The book contains over 40 years of his and his colleague’s research on the human mind and the way humans make judgments and decisions. Kahneman makes the book very intriguing by applying his experimental findings to his concepts throughout the book. His hope for the readers of this book is that they will be able to recognize when our brain tries to act irrational, and gives steps to take to try and make rational decisions. The book begins with an introduction on the work between Daniel Kahneman and his good friend Ramos Tversky. The two began to work together in 1969 and wrote an article on intuitive statistics. It was then that they realized that they really enjoyed each others company and that together, they were capable of discovering things that each on there own could not achieve. This is what led them to continue to work together for fourteen years. Throughout the fourteen years, the pair wrote many articles with their two greatest works being, “Judgment Under Uncertainty: Heuristics and Biases” and “Prospect Theory: An Analysis of Decision Under Risk.” These two works became very influential to many in the field of research in judgment, decision-making and behavioral economics. Kahneman went on to win the Nobel Prize in 2002 for his and Amos’ work on judgment, decision making, and prospect theory, but he says that...

...Instructions Answer the set of questions below. Each set of questions must be answered in at least 1 paragraph (at least 5 sentences). Use good detail and personal examples. It is ok to type directly on this form, then save and submit it to Blackboard. 1. Looking back at your Study Logs for the past 7 weeks, what do you believe you did well, and what could you have improved? For example, did you accomplish your goals? Did you study when you said you were going to study? Did your grades reflect your effort? Answer: Looking back at the past 7 weeks all I can say is that it flew bye so quick. I feel that I have learned so much from this class in so many aspects. I have challenged myself like never before by studying harder, actually understanding the concepts better and allowing myself applicable time to finish my course requirements. I feel that my grades did in fact reflect to my efforts and I plan on continuing the same way. 2. What were your typical study habits? Give specific examples. On average, how much time per week/class did you spend studying? Did your studying pay off, or do you think you will need to do something different in the next term? Answer: My typical study habits where basic. I would take one day for each class and try to give myself the weekends off. I felt that was a good idea and plan that I had for myself and it sure did pay off. On an average I can say I spent about 20 hours split into three classes studying. I feel that my studying did pay off...

...possible way I created an action plan so that I could arrange my week before the exam. I thought that this would be practical because I would be able to make the most of my time in order to revise for the exam. I started by identifying my free time and preparing a time table that would be easy to follow and that would help me to obtain the best possible result. In my plan I included how long and at what time I was going to revise and also incorporated what revision techniques I was going to use that day. I took certain points in to consideration for example if I had to change a shift at work or if something urgent came up, I did this because it is hard to know exactly how my week way really going to go. Since my GCSE’s I have not done any exams, so I felt quite nervous about having to do one. When I was in school I used to revise by reading through my notes and high lighting the relevant information, then summarising the information on to flash cards. I also used to create mock questions so that I could answer them, eventually without using any notes or flash cards. Since I have used these techniques in the past I thought that it was a good idea to use them to revise for the psychology exam. Once I had identified my free time I found it very easy to put together my action plan. I created a timetable of the week before the exam and then planned out what I need to do and when I was able to do it. I found the revision plan very practical, for the reason that if I had not have...

...Yoshio in Japanese, Mr. Thomas started to get angry and said to Masao, "Masao, stop talking to Yoshio in Japanese and answer my question immediately." Masao couldn't understand why Mr. Thomas got angry with him. He just wanted to make sure if he had understood Mr. Thomas's question correctly before he would answer it. Can you guess why Mr. Thomas got angry with him? Answer: From Mr. Thomas's point of view, it was Masao, not the other boys, who was asked to answer his question and who was responsible for the answer. However, Masao asked his classmate for help. Mr. Thomas considered Masao's behavior as cheating. I would like to explain why I choose this answer. When Mr. Thomas asked question to Masao, he did not get it first time and he tried to ask his friend Yoshio. It was clear that he was not asking the answer to Yoshio. He did not get what Mr. Thomas asked him and he was not sure about it. He was asking his friend to make sure about the question, not the answer. Mr. Thomas might know that Masao asked for the question which he asked to him then also he got angry on Masao because I think Masao has to pay attention in the class. He cannot talk with anybody when teacher is asking something. If he was not sure about the question, why did not he ask Mr. Thomas? He should ask teacher honestly that can you repeat the question again. If he is talking with other student next to him, it clearly considered as a cheating. Mr. Thomas did get angry because he might want to teach a lesson...

...DivineRevelations.info/COMBAT I want to share with you from a testimony of someone who was saved, someone who had been serving the devil. And when that man gave his testimony, it so challenged me, I did not want to believe it. I had to go ten days before the Lord in fasting, asking Him, "Lord, is this true?" And it was at that time the Lord began to teach me what happens in the spiritual realm when we pray. This man was born after his parents dedicated themselves to lucifer. When he was still in the womb, they made so many rituals dedicating him to serve lucifer. When he was four years old, he began to exercise his spiritual power. And his parents began fearing him. When he was six years, his father surrendered him to the witches to go and be trained. And by ten years, he was doing great things in the kingdom of the devil. He was feared by the normal witches. He was still a young boy, but he was so terrible in the things he did. He grew up to be a young man in his twenties with so much bloodshed on his hands. Killed at will. He had the ability to go out of his body through transcendental meditation. And he could levitate. Sometimes his body would lift off the ground and stay in the air. And sometimes he could go into a trance, and come out of his body; his body would remain behind, and he would go out into the world, this is called astro-travelling. And this guy was used by satan to destroy so many churches, to break down so many churches and to destroy so many pastors. ...

...Dealing With a Dead Situation John 11:1-4 & 17-27 Saints for the next few minitues I want to talk to you about the situations that are in your life. In order to deal with the situations that we are going to have to face in this world, we must learn how to deal with some situations in your life and allow them to die. We all go and are going through things that seems to hard for us to bear. There are many things that we have been praying for and we wonder Lord are you listening to me? Some of us been praying the same prayer so long that we feel like maybe this is one He just isn’t going to answer. I stop by to let you know that He hears every prayer and it is how you are dealing with the situation that is affecting the answer. Don’t you realize that He told us that we have the power to speak things into exsistance. Take not that on the 3 P’s. P= I have taught you in my word how to first Pray P= I have given you the Power to speak over your situation P= Then after you have pray and authorized your power to speak, then you have to learn to leave it alone and Praise for the result. Some of us don’t want our situations to die. We get all the attention as long as we are going through. If the Lord make a way for my bills to be paid, I can’t hit up the mission department no more. If he heal me, then the mothers want come over and cook and clean for me no more You don’t want your situation to die because that is the only way your lazy self have learned how to survive...

...ENG121: English Composition I (ABC1201G) Instructor: Allorah Wyman January 24, 2012 Returning to School There are so many reasons on why I returned to school that I don’t even know where to being. Or could it be the fact that I had a hard time when it came to graduating from high school and maybe I’m here to prove my family wrong. Maybe it my kids and wanting a better life for them then I had for myself. Or it could be the fact that I just want to be here. There are many reasons why I should be here. Returning to school was something that took a while for me to decide to do. Mainly because I said that after all I went through to leave high school that I wasn’t going back to school. I had to do night school, summer school, American school that’s where they mail you the work and you mail it back. And even went back to do a half semester the following year. So once I went through all that I said I was done with school. I was happy I did it, but it was all just a little much to be going through for a simple piece of paper. But after years of doing nothing and having a child I knew that I wanted to be something if not for me for her. Growing up I was looking for a role model and for some reason I just couldn’t find it. And then it felt like no time ever seem to be the right time and there was always a reason to put it off until the next time. Then having another child just made me come up with every other reason why I should do it. But still I wasn’t working and trouble...
