...is not enough time in my life to write about the person who had the greatest influence in my life. As I write this paper, it’s as if my entire life is flashing in front of my face. I feel I’m frozen in time: scenes of my fondest memories of my mother playing in my mind but in slow motion. I see her vividly she is walking by swiftly in her rose colored house dress, brown slightly worn shoes, the aroma of Maxwell house coffee perking, and the scent of crispy bacon sizzling in the skillet, all reminding me of those early morning winter days in Ohio, bitter cold but warm at the same time surrounded in so much love. My mother, “Mamma,” was not only a great parent to my siblings and me but her parenting reached far beyond her children. She was a mother figure and a listening ear to many of my friends but one in particular who did not share the loving, caring and wonderful bond I shared with my mother. I remember a particular time in my best friend, Jackie’s life when she was 15 years old, who could not talk to her mother about a very difficult situation that occurred in her life. Her mother was a self absorbed, unhappy woman, who was more attentive and obsessed with her husband’s indiscretions. She consumed all her time and energy in trying to figure out what was going wrong in her marriage than to hear the cries and frustration, the deep dark place her daughter was in and had no guidance to find her way out. In the midst of Jackie’s most complicated problem during...

...The most influential person in my life is my mother. She taught me how to keep loving through the good and the bad. My mothers love is unconditional, it is a trait i wish to equip throughout my life. I was about 13 when I found out that my mother loved me unconditionally. The moment I lost my mothers necklace (that my grandmother gave to her) I thought she was going to kill me. I had never seen my mother so mad at me. I began to cry as she was yelling at me;I ran into my room, closed the door, and wept all night. The next day my mom walked into my room and told me she was sorry with the most regretful look on her face. I knew my mother was truly sorry. As we hugged in closure, she started to cry on my shoulder. I told my mom I will do anything to find it, but my mothers response was "That necklace will never amount to how much I love you". I will forever be amazed about my mothers love and care for me. She is also incredible at getting things done. It does not matter of the situation, my mother always comes through with whatever was needed. She puts others needs before hers and I love that about her. Whenever someone asks for something, she is always the first one to deliver. When I play softball we usually have 2 games a day, during these games somebody always runs out of water. My mother being the caring person she is, offers to go buy them water from a store near by. During are breaks between games she rushes to go get water. When she returns she comes back with water, snacks...

...The Evolution of Love Azusa Pacific University Vanessa Garcia Abstract In this paper I will expose the birth of love in my life and how it has been influences as it evolves throughout my life. My life is comprised of a series of events that have allowed me to experience love in its purest form; however, there are aspects of love that still continue to perplex me. The Evolution of Love Our lives are compiled of a series of events that shape who we are and how we experience the world. Love is one of the rawest emotions that we experience throughout our lives. But how did we learn to love, is this yearning for tender affection a learned or acquired need or might it be as necessary and drink and nourishment? My experiences have molded how I portray love. Although the way that I experience love is constantly evolving, there have been pivotal turning points that have influenced the way that I experience love. Love nourishes and fuels our hearts. From the day that I took my first breath I yearned for the love of my parents. Although I may not recall at this point in life, as an infant my desire for love was present. Parents are our first teachers of the concepts of love. I have been blessed with a very loving and caring mother. She has shared with me that as an infant I insisted on being held. I can infer that this need for love has been present since my first breathe. The love of my mother has always been present in my life. She has loved me unconditionally since the...

...Christina Kern Week 3 My Mother Written by Janine Whitfield When anyone sees my mother on the street the first think that comes into mind is that this “older lady” must be extremely proud of her self and must be really tired. My mother has a gaze that is loving and caring but it also carries the weight of the world. Her gaze says “Hello child I am here to help?” Her stride is long and prideful. She walks with her head held high and never looks at the ground as she walks. When she walks, she walks with purpose, meaning she has a little pep in her step. She walks as if her shoes were on fire. My mother hates being late, she says that “tardiness means you don’t care”. The way that she dresses is always full of elegance, style, and beauty. She is so neat that you would think she never sits in her clothes: not a fold, or wrinkle of any kind. My mother’s persona leaves everyone with no doubt that the life behind her shoulders has seen so many tragedies and events that one cannot begin to imagine, not even in their wildest dreams. The inside of my mother’s house is a reflection of what you see when you look at her: cleanliness and honor. The old style furniture but with a modern twist, a baby grandfather clock she received after helping the uneducated youth and adults for over 20 years, awards and pictures of her children and grandchildren. When walking around her house you never have to wonder who she is. The pictures and awards tell her entire story. My mother answers the questions...

...Narrative " Love and Relationship" Page 1 of 4 The bond between my Mom and myself as I was growing up provided the basis for what I think of the power of love today. I still reflect on this and realize that it is an unconditional bond, a lifetime of moments with unforgettable milestones, and a love that comes naturally. In the autumn of 1998 at age 17 the birth of my first child Lerenz Alwyn Griffith changed my world and inspired my beliefs. From that time on I learned to appreciate my own mother's love, saw the value of being exposed to the heartache of partner relationships and was grateful that I too had a child to love. My mother was adopted by a mature married couple with four children of their own. They could not have more children of their...

It is described as the most natural, emotional feeling because it is outcome of love due to family ties. Fatefully, it is the strong point what makes it the most defenseless. The affection is “built-in” and as a consequence people expect it. Prologue This poetry anthology is a collection of poems, which shows the people's view of love. As I am a hopeless romantic, I chose this topic. I think the journey that life takes us all on is one filled with many adventures. I believe to truly live life to the fullest would be to love. If a person can say that he or she has never truly been loved or loved someone then he or she has never really lived. The feeling of love is so euphoric. The...

...Like most other young children, I had a security blanket. While the security blanket is normally symbolism for another object treasured by children, my security blanket was literally two small blankets. From when I was born to about seven years old, I dragged around the pastel yellow and pink blankets; they were stained and rarely washed. Not only was I constantly dragging the blankets around, but I loved throwing them up in the air and watching them float down to me. One afternoon, I was sitting in the middle of our family room and looking for something to do. I glanced down and saw the blankets in my hand. This sparked the idea of throwing them into the air. It was all fun and games until the pastel yellow blanket caught on my hand for slightly too long and went too close to the mantel. My mother had a beautiful angel on the mantel until my blanket caught onto her hand. The blanket ended up serving as a broken parachute; they both flew to the ground and the angel shattered. Luckily my mother was not home, and my grandma was watching us. She just gave me a stern look, but helped me clean up the mess. After cleaning up the mess, she informed that I was going to be the one that had to tell Mother....

...arms of our mothers. We have grown up in the great love of our mothers. No one loves us like our mothers, no one is willing to sacrifice everything for us like our mothers. If someone asks you “Who is the best woman in your life ?”, I bet you will say it is your mother. And if someone asks me like that, my answer also is my mother. With me, my mother is the best woman in the world. No one can replace her in my heart. I admire my mother, I don't know why she is always busy with daily chores, taking care of my family but she never say she is tired. Every day, she is the first person in my family, who wakes up very early. Then, she makes breakfast for my family. When my father goes to work, I go to school, my mother stays home and does all the daily chores. When my father and I come home, there is always a delicious dinner, which is waiting for us. After the dinner, my mom washes the dishes. Sometimes, I ask her to help, but she says: “It is fine, you should go upstairs and do your homework”. Mom always wake up very early, and Mom is the last person can take a break after a busy day. I realize that without my Mom, my father and I cannot have the clean house, the delicious meal and the clothes which always iron straight. Mom gives me and my father all her love. ...Over the course of the semester, I have learned a lot about myself and my family as a whole. Family problems and social change has made me realized that family plays an important role in shaping your actions and forming your perceptions. Family dynamics have obviously changed over the centuries; things that are going on in this day and age are not the same as it was decades ago. As for my family, we come from an Afro-Caribbean background; we are natives of Haiti. My parents migrated from Haiti to Bahamas and from there to America with four children, in hopes of providing a better future for us. They worked odd jobs here and there just to provide shelter, food, and other necessities that we would need. The only burden my parents ever placed on my siblings and I, were to receive an education and strive to be successful. They made many sacrifices to provide us with these opportunities, and for that I will forever be grateful. Nonetheless, I will be discussing the differences between generations of my family. I decided to interview my grandmother Ermilie and my father Luc. Themes in Ermilie’s Life (born 1936) Ermilie is my grandmother on my mother’s side. She is the only one of my grandparents that is still alive. Seeing that we were immigrants for quite some time, I only had access to my immediate family and a few cousins. I met my grandmother for the first time on June 4th, 2014. Over the years I could only talk to her; it was a joyous moment for me to finally put a face with...

...someone who you would expect. My guardian was Aibileen Clark, my family's house maid. Aibileen has affected my life in a way that I still cannot grasp however, I know that without her I could not be the person I am today. A true guardian is someone who wants to make you safe from the harm of the world when they can be there for you and simultaneously make you strong enough to fight for yourself. A guardian teaches you to live happily. Those are the lessons I learned from my guardian personally. It is because of Aibileen that I am proud to be myself today and it is because of her that I feel I am able to be so active in the world around me. As a child my mother and I were not very close to say the least. I was not a "perfect little lady" and so my mother scorned me for this constantly and she generally didn't throw me into the eyes of society. That is where Aibileen came into my life. Aibileen was appropriately called the help around my house. As a child I needed her help even though I can't say I knew it at the time. Aibileen instilled a sense of self pride in me that would carry me throughout my life. After a barrage of verbal abuse from my mother about my lack of worth, Aibileen was always there for me. I remember her saying to me "you is kind, you is smart, you is important". Those words, said to me as a toddler, have echoed through me for my entire life. Without the love that Aibileen gave me and the reminder that I do have a self-worth I don't know where I'd be. It scares...
