...Kindle and Indian Market Market Segment Scope and Target Customers There is a huge scope for expansion of the tablet market in India. There are 81 million households that fall under the rich and the consuming classes, this may be our target market. The eInk reader of Amazon will compete in this marketas well as the entire market above the poverty line as it is priced lower than the tablet (INR 5999). As per statistics 1 per 17 people possesses a PC/Laptop/Tablet in India, around 95% untapped market for the e-reader exists. The tablet sales in INDIA in 2013 were $ 4.14 million, however there has been a 32.8% drop in tablet market shipment for Q1 2014 in INDIA. This drop can be attributed to two reasons: 1. Most tablet users have them as their secondary or tertiary devices and thus expect something different that laptops/smartphones do not offer. 2. Bureau of Indian standards (BIS) has implemented strong regulations of quality and safety, which many new entrants are not able to match. Positioning Factors and Marketing Mix Under such scenario, Amazon will have a strong positionas its KINDLE devices are highly innovation driven and substantially better in quality and durable as compared to other products. These 2 factors should be considered the “Key positioning factors” for kindle. The Current Tablet Market in India is highly dominated by Samsung (56.52%) and Apple (22.53%) which constitute (¾)thof the total market. Theprice and value sensitive mindset of Indian consumers has been...

...Strategic Management EFFECTS OF REMOTE ENVIRONMENT ON OUR MISSION STATIONS IN TRIVANTRUM, KERALA. Introduction: Last three years I was in a mission station in Neyyatinkara diocese Trivandrum where we have six parishes and an ICSE higher secondary school. I was the in charge of these parishes and the construction in charge of the school buildings. Political environment: Really it was an enriching and eye opening experience in my life. Pastoral and Mission activities are very much affected by political, economic, ecological, social and technological environment. It has a positive as well as negative impact on each person in the parish. This is an attempt to reflect and throw some light on the same. Economic Environment: Most of the people are financially poor in the parishes. Majority of the prisoners are daily workers. They do agricultural and construction works. They are very co-operative and ready to help out when any needs arise in the parishes. They contribute to the church with the limited earnings. Sometime time the government policies are favourable to the farmers, but some time it is totally against to them. Ecological environment: The ecological environment is very much conducive for short term cultivation. Land is fertile and get enough and more rain, so people can cultivate all sorts of vegetables as well as the seasonal crops but people won’t go for that types of cultivation because they get only less profit. Nowadays people are very much aware of the ecological...

...Chapter 2 REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES Presented in this chapter is foreign and local literature and studies which are relevant to the present undertaking. Literature and studies cited enables the researcher to have a better understanding and a wider perspective of this investigation. Adversity Quotient (AQ) and its nature Resilience refers to the ability to cope or to give a successful response to high risk or adversity as measured by the four CO2RE scales of the adversity quotient. It is an outcome of both individual characteristics and environmental causes. Resilience is viewed by the individual from the inside as he or she responds to the outside or external influences and events, viz. Adversity. Richard Davidson, director of the Laboratory for Effective Neuroscience at the University of Wisconsin, conducted a landmark series of brain imaging studies that tested two groups of people: one identified as highly resilient to life’s ups and downs, the other easily upset by them. Davidson tracked their brain function as they performed stressful tasks, such as writing about the most upsetting experience in their lives or performing difficult math problems under time pressure (Goleman, 1997). Resilient people have a remarkably rapid recovery from stress. A study of store managers at a large American retail chain store found that the managers who were most tense, beleaguered, or overwhelmed by job pressures ran stores with the worst performance...

...On the Formalisation of ERP Systems Procurement Xavier Franch Joan A. Pastor Universitat Polictècnica de Catalunya Universitat Polictècnica de Catalunya c/Jordi Girona 1-3 c/Jordi Girona 1-3 UPC Campus Nord, C6 UPC Campus Nord, C6 Barcelona, Catalunya E-08034 Spain Barcelona, Catalunya E-08034 Spain +34 3 401 69 65 +34 3 401 70 21 franch@lsi.upc.es pastor@lsi.upc.es ABSTRACT In this position paper we present and defend a set of statements regarding ERP procurement. The statements highlight the importance of ERP procurement processes and propose that they should be as well-defined and systematic as possible. For this reason, we advocate the use of formal notations for structuring the criteria used during ERP selection, for describing ERPs with respect to these criteria and in general to help the whole selection process, including tool support. Finally, we point out several open issues that need to be considered. Most of the opinions expressed here arise from a real industrial ERP procurement experience. Keywords ERP procurement, ERP acquisition. 1 ERP PROCUREMENT MOTIVATION A clear trend in both private and public companies with regard to their current options for software-based management Information Systems (IS) is the fast and wide proliferation of large packaged ready-made Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, surely among the most extreme instances of current Customizable Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software packages. We present in this and the ...

...Leveraging Existing Tests in Automated Test Generation for Web Applications Amin Milani Fard Mehdi Mirzaaghaei University of British Columbia Vancouver, BC, Canada Ali Mesbah {aminmf, mehdi, amesbah}@ece.ubc.ca ABSTRACT To test web applications, developers currently write test cases in frameworks such as Selenium. On the other hand, most web test generation techniques rely on a crawler to explore the dynamic states of the application. The first approach requires much manual effort, but benefits from the domain knowledge of the developer writing the test cases. The second one is automated and systematic, but lacks the domain knowledge required to be as effective. We believe combining the two can be advantageous. In this paper, we propose to (1) mine the human knowledge present in the form of input values, event sequences, and assertions, in the human-written test suites, (2) combine that inferred knowledge with the power of automated crawling, and (3) extend the test suite for uncovered/unchecked portions of the web application under test. Our approach is implemented in a tool called Testilizer. An evaluation of our approach indicates that Testilizer (1) outperforms a random test generator, and (2) on average, can generate test suites with improvements of up to 150% in fault detection rate and up to 30% in code coverage, compared to the original test suite. these interactions at runtime is manifested through the Document Object Model (DOM) and presented to the end-user in...

...feature open source Achieving Quality in Open Source Software Mark Aberdour, opensourcetesting.org Reviewing objective studies of open source software quality can help us better understand how to achieve software quality in both open and closed-source development. T he open source software community has published a substantial body of research on OSS quality. Focusing on this peer-reviewed body of work lets us draw conclusions from empirical data about how to achieve OSS quality, rather than relying on the large volume of evangelical opinion that has historically dominated this field. This body of published research has become much more critical and objective in its efforts to understand OSS development, and a consensus has emerged on the key components of high-quality OSS delivery. This article reviews this body of research and draws out lessons learned, investigating how the approaches for delivering high-quality OSS differ from, and can be incorporated into, closed-source software development. paring quality management in open source and closed-source software development. OSS development must also manage a geographically distributed team, requiring focus on coordination tasks. Yet OSS development seems to eschew best practices without software quality suffering. Indeed, an extensive study of 100 open source applications found that structural code quality was higher than expected and comparable with commercially developed software.1 The body of research demonstrates...
