In this article the author Duenwald can be seen to use the logical fallacy known as non sequitur, she uses this when she states “If Barbie was a real woman, she'd have to walk on all fours.” which makes the claim that beautiful women are not as beautiful as they seem. Duenwald is saying that the beautiful portrayed by society is an unrealistic bar set for most women.
The author also uses the fallacy known as ad populum by making a claim that doesn't add up. Ad populum in my own words is an argument that tends to focus on emotional language to persuade a reader to believe their claim. Duenwald states that if the media such as television and newspaper started to portray women as plus size than the skinny body will persist. The author is implying
