...This was a practice essay I wrote a few years ago so naturally isn't perfect as I had only just begun writing essays at this stage. A religious experience is a non-empirical event in which a person can gain knowledge and understanding, they come in a range of forms including, visions, conversion and mystical experiences. They are spontaneous events in which it can be voluntary or not. They are always unique to the individual experiencing it and is always a positive event and they have a religious element to them. A believer can have a vision a vision is an image or event in which there is a message and are always non-empirical, this could mean a number of different things depending on the believer however most are numinous this is what Otto described as a feeling of fear and fascination. A vision could gain understanding, an example of this is Julian of Norwich who determined that God is a mother she had this feeling of sudden understanding this can also be described noetic quality. An effect on the believer could also be that it reinforces faith, for example in Genesis Jacob has an imaginary vision in which he sees a stairway to heaven with angels ascending and descending and at the top sat God, this reinforced his belief and when he awoke he felt God’s presence in the place. A result of a vision could also be a social influence, this could be by discovering a healing spring such as St Bernadette who had 18 corporeal visions in which she saw the Virgin Mary who told her...

What is the purpose of this journey?” Trying to come up for a sample metaphor she claimed was “stupid” Anna suggested, “Maybe passengers is referring to all...

...relates to an intake that I participated in at LINK. Prior to the intake, my supervisor and I discussed the intake process once again and went over each piece of paperwork. I stated that I felt somewhat comfortable with the paperwork and that I would be able to fill out the paperwork, but that I did not think that I would be fully comfortable explaining everything yet. My supervisor stated that that was fine and that he would be in the room to help with anything. Once the client came to LINK, we went into a meeting room to talk. At first, I asked if she knew anything about LINK and she said no, so I began to explain a little bit about what LINK is. However, I was unable to remember all...

...“Boundaries are not something you “set on” another person. Boundaries are about yourself” (Cloud & Townsend, 1999, p. 28). The focal points of this book include theories about boundaries, values, resolving conflict, and keeping God in a marriage. Cloud and Townsend (1999) explain that boundaries in marriage is fundamentally about love; prompting, growing, developing, and repairing the love (p.9). John 4:16 states “love is at the heart of marriage, as it is at the heart of God himself” (p.9). Cloud & Townsend (1999) present boundaries in different ways through words, truth, consequences, emotional distance, physical distance, other people and time. The descriptions of these points are crucial pieces in Cloud and Townsend’s theory. An individual’s language and words assist in defining who he or she is as a person and “what you believe, what you want, and what you don’t” (Cloud & Townsend, p. 29). Ephesians 4:25 explains that” Each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body”. The truth spoken in Ephesians is an important facet of following the boundaries theory. Just as critical is the truth of God and his word. Cloud and Townsend (1999) explain when boundaries are not established in the beginning of a marriage,...

...To begin with, as mention before Bandura’s experiment the “Bobo doll experiment” explains how children learn violence by observing adults. For this reason, I believe Nikolas Cruz learned mass shootings and school shootings from the previous incidents. I truly believe Nikolas Cruz thought it was acceptable to commit this crime because many people in the past had done it. Identically, Nikolas had a love for guns, he posted pictures of his guns in his social media accounts. Not to mention, Nikolas also committed violent activities to animals. After taking a Criminal Investigation course, I learned that people who have a history of animal abuse are likely to commit a crime in the...

...Part 2 For this customer I would try to find out what are the most important things that they are looking for when they are choosing the software. I would want to find out what they would be doing the most. I would tell them about how Word would be a useful tool if they had to do a research paper. I would explain to him some of the shortcut features that he would be able to do using Word whether it was for wanting to format his paper a certain way or changing the style of a document that he was doing I would explain to him that there are benefits to knowing the shortcut steps to save themselves so time. I would also inform him of one of the most useful tools which would be the Word help because if he had any questions he could use this feature and learn how to do different things for himself within Word and also if he had a question he could look up the answer for himself. Some of the other benefits of Word that I would inform him of would also be that it would allow him to edit his documents for spelling and grammar errors, he could create other documents such as resumes, he can do projects, being able to set the margins, the ease of opening and saving documents within Word, etc. The possible challenges with trying to explain to someone over the phone the benefits of Word would be since he’s not to familiar with Word to begin with trying to explain to him the different features would be a challenge because he wouldn’t have the program in front of him to experiment with...

...Frederick Douglass. It explains both slavery for slaves and slave owners. Douglass tells the story of his most important and inspirational moments and he tries to explain one of the most lethal and sad years of our country's times. He was the odd one out of all the slaves, he had hope. He believed that freedom for slaves was possible and he would do anything in his power to make it come true. One of Douglass first steps to freedom was to learn how to read and write and Mrs. Auld had covered that for him until she had been blinded by the power of controlling people, slaves. Douglass has gone through many adventures and has seen what it means to be free and not to be free. He has...

...that is leaving the E.R. after being diagnosed with the shingles virus. The patient came into the E.R. with a rash on the right side of the trunk. The rash presented as clear blisters and was painful to the touch. The physician diagnosed the patient with shingles and it is now my job to explain to the patient about the shingles virus. I would start by explaining that the painful rash is called the shingles virus. It is caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox and it is called herpes zoster. If they had the chicken pox as a child the virus has been in there body since they had them. It is an infection of the nerve. The virus presents usually on the trunk or side of the body but can present in other areas but that the rash they are experiencing is in the most common place. I would give the patient an overview of the symptoms. I would explain that the virus can cause clear blisters that are filled with liquid. These blisters will eventually burst and the skin will be red and sore and will scab or crust over. The rash will go from being itchy to painful to the touch. In some cases a low fever can occur. I want to make sure the patient knows these symptoms are normal. I want the patient to know that the actual length of time for these sores to go away can vary. Typically it takes 1-4 weeks to get better. This is just the average time frame some people have it...

...Nov 16,2013 1. Emerson begins his second paragraph with “Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string,” (as cited in Langan, 2014) What does he mean by this? Why do you think he placed the quote this early in the essay? Explain (1)I feel that Emerson’s quote “Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to its own string,” Is implying, whatever you set your mind too you can accomplish. “Every heart vibrates to its own Iron string,” Is implying that everyone is different; we go about doing things in different ways, but it doesn’t mean that it’s wrong. (2) I feel he placed this quote so early in the essay because; he wanted to attract the reader’s attention with such a unique passage. He tried grabbing their attention, early in the passage. 2. In paragraph 4, Emerson says, “it is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own” (as cited in Langan, 2014). What does he mean by this quote? What is his purpose in making this statement? Explain. (1) “It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion”, basically it’s saying that it is easy for other people to justify your life, doing what’s good in the eyes of society. Letting what other people think, affect the way you live your life. “It’s is easy in solitude to live after our own,” Is saying to live in solitude, you can easily live, doing the things that you want to do. (2) To shed light on the situation, of people caring, what other people think. Live by your...

(If any) This weeks lab was to familiarize ourselves with the Linux directory structure by creating, moving, and deleting files and directories using the “vim Editor.” 2. What challenges did you meet in working towards completing the Lab? The instructions were straight forward. I just had to look a few times, since we were asked to skip several instructions to focus on the main parts of the tutorial in our book assignment. [Side Note]: Many students seemed to have problem accessing the Lab for this week. I did not seem to have any troubles loading the Lab Mentor, unless the internal issue was hotfixed. 3. Were you successful in solving the problem? Did you use methods you learned in class? If yes, explain your solution, if no, explain the solution you did use. Please be specific, and provide a detailed description of your solution. I just kept the iLab assignment and book assignment side-by-side as I was reading through the instructions. The main task was multitasking several windows at the same time (i.e., iLab instructions, OS Book, Lab Mentors, Word 2010). TO Download Complete Tutorial With Screen Shots, Hit...

...employer – employee relationship (definitions.uslegal.com, 2011). It includes the right to privacy and freedom from discrimination based on age, gender, race, national origin or religion (employment.findlaw.com, 2011). Having employee rights ensures equal opportunity for all employees, as well as, it makes the employee feel comfortable in their work environment. Protecting employees rights benefit both the employees and the business by limiting the misunderstanding that may occur in the work place. I In this paper, I will explain how I would handle the situation if I were Charles Renfold, describe the policy on smoking that I would recommend, explain how this case would change if the situation was not about old smoke but the smell of Alice’s perfume or Frank’s body odor and explain whether it is fair or reasonable to ban employees from smoking in their cars in company parking lot. Explain how you would handle this situation if you were Charles Renfold. Mr. Renford had already explained that the law in their state requires a smoke free work area and that his area was smoke free. That Alice and Frank were always considerate when Darlene comes into the file room by not smoking and opening the windows. Darlene is being insubordinate by dictating what she will not do to her supervisor, which cannot be allowed. Mr. Renford must inform Darlene Lambert that her behavior is not exceptable therefore; she is setting herself up to be suspended or possibly fired. She was hired...

...Flirting With Risk When Mary Owens’ husband, Ralph, passed away about three months ago he left behind a small fortune, which he had accumulated by living a very thrifty life and by investing in common stocks. Ralph had worked s an engineer for a surgical instruments manufacturer for over 30 years and had taken full advantage of the company’s voluntary retirement savings plan. However, instead of buying a diversified set of investment he had invested his money into a few high growth companies. Over time his investment portfolio had growth to about $900,000 being primarily comprised of the stocks of 3 companies. He was very fortunate that his selections turned out to be good ones and after numerous stock-splits the prices of the three companies had appreciated significantly over time. Mary, on the other hand, was a very conservative and cautious person. She had devoted her lie to being a stay-home mom and had raised their two kinds into fine adults, each of whom had a fairly successful career. Jim, 28, had followed in Ralph’s footsteps. In addition to being gainfully employed as engineer, he was pursuing an MBA at a prestigious business school. Annette, 26, was completing her residency at a major metropolitan hospital. Although Mary and Ralph had enjoyed a wonderful married life, it was Ralph who managed almost all the financial affairs of their family. Mary, like many spouses of their generation, preferred to focus on other family matters. It was only after Ralph’s passing...
