Theme: If I were a president for one day

If I were a president for one day I would be very honored. Only the idea of me being a president gets me excited and happy.

PRESIDENT – this word means a lot, it’s a huge responsibility and it doesn’t just mean to stand on the stage, give a speech and then go back to your big luxurious house and sit there all day. It means that you should imagine yourself in somebody else’s shoes, think about what your people are suffering and going through. Think about how you can make the education better, or make better conditions for those ho are in need. That’s what being a president is about. Trying to make your country better, making the people better.

I would organize a donation event for charity, because what’s more important then helping those in need, knowing that you gave something that would make such a difference to them. I would outlaw anything that would cause mistreatment, discrimination or racism.

If I were a president for one day, I would try to do as many things that I dreamt of. First of all I would meet some of my favorite singers, like: Beyonce, Etta James or Alicia Keys. Meeting them would be amazing. They all have amazing voices and sing such beautiful songs that really touch my heart. I would also love to be a guest star on “The Ellen Show”. I love her show; it’s funny, interesting and sometimes very inspirational.

Flying on my personal jet would be “the cherry on top”, but these are just my dreams, and who knows, maybe dreams really do come true…

In the beginning, I felt that my interpersonal communication skills were very distorted, because I was overwhelmed with available resources and quite confused about how to prioritize given work. My feelings about the subject matter at hand acted as a barrier to communication, therefore, it took me a while to completely understand concerns regarding advanced products in my company. I experienced multiple meanings of a word as a barrier to communication. During my meeting with the Director of advance products, I was trying to explain, a “fire incident” at the supplier of advanced products. However, my director interpreted word “fire” as “a layoff situation at the supplier factory”. I tried to explain her the situation twice with words, then used non-verbal gesture to explain the word “fire”. I believed that our communication was affected by recency error. John F. Kennedy Assassination

...November 22nd is a day of recognition and remembrance for an important man in American history. This year will have been the 50th anniversary dedicated to great John F. Kennedy and his unfortunate assassination. However, after 50 years why are we still questionable to of who is actually responsible for his death. For me personally the charge against Lee Harvey Oswald doesn’t cut it for me. A six story shot from a building at angle that “the best gun man” now can’t mimic seems more of a cover up for what was really going on. Now, I personally cannot tell you who did it because I obviously wasn’t present on the day of the assassination. To be frank I wasn’t even a thought, but I can give my input in who I believe is responsible for it, and I believe that it wasn’t a single person. With all the conspiracy theories about Mr. Kennedy’s murderer, I believe it would be okay to rule out the ones about someone poisoning a salad, or sandwich and giving it to him because that’s obviously not what happened on the day of his assassination. I mean, it could have happened earlier, not saying that anything is possible, but there’s no reliable source that we can look back to. Plus, his face didn’t explode from a chemical reaction or poison… It was more of a bullet to the face approach. But sandwich and salads aside, one of the conspiracy theories that do capture my attention with convincing evidence is the fact that the ones truly responsible for his assassination were the Mob and Lyndon...

Cuban Missle Crisis: The Cuban Missile Crisis

...suspenseful 13 day standoff between the Americans and the Soviet Union. It all started on October 14, 1962, when a high altitude U-2 plane took pictures of nuclear tipped IRBM (intermediate-range ballistic missiles) and MRBM (medium range ballistic missiles) in Cuba. The two proposals were set on the table: air strike and invade, or naval blockade. Ever since the Bay Pigs invasion, (which was an American led invasion where we got over 1200 Cuban refugees and sent them to Cuba to overthrow the government, but the effort failed) the Cubans wanted to be better protected. Cuba was allied with Soviet Union at that time and since the Cold War was going on between...

...The day that President Obama was sworn in as president is significant to me, more than just for the event. Certainly the event itself has historical meaning to all Americans, but the thing I remember most is that that was the day that I learned a very important lesson from my children Leading up to the election my children were very excited that an African American man has a chance to become president of the United States. I have to admit, I was pretty excited myself. However, the history of the country did not lead me to believe that it would actually happen. For numerous reasons I had my doubts. In the months leading up to the election I warned my children not to get too disappointed if things didn’t work out the way they wanted it to. Despite my warnings, as Election Day grew near my children actually became even more excited. Secretly, I was just as excited. Nevertheless, I did not want to get my hopes up too high. Honestly, I still did not believed that it would happen. I was preparing to sooth the disappointment in my children once the election results were announced. Election Day was a big event at my house. All my friends and family had gathered over and we were all tuned in to the television. Hour after hour I saw Obama leading the polls and I begin to feel a certain excitement that it might actually happen. I remember it being a school night for the children. We allowed them to stay up since this was such an historical event. When Barack Obama finally won our house...

Mining in Chile Case Study

...Leading the Rescue of the Miners in Chile Disaster struck on August 5, 2010. Thirty-three miners, drilling 700 meters (2,300 feet) below the surface, were entombed by a massive cave-in. They had been working in a medium-sized copper and gold mine beneath the moonlike wilderness of the Atacama Desert near the city of Copiapó, Republic of Chile (Chile), some 800 kilometers (500 miles) north of the country’s capital, Santiago. Chilean Mining Minister Laurence Golborne had arrived in Quito, Ecuador, at 9 p.m. that same day with Chilean President Sebastián Piñera on a state visit. At 11 p.m., Golborne’s smart phone came to life with a message whose brevity spoke urgency: “Mine cave-in, Copiapó; 33 victims.” Golborne informed the president the next morning and flew on commercial air flights to Lima, Peru, and then to Santiago. He then took a Chilean Air Force (FACH) flight to Copiapó, and, from there, he was driven some 45 kilometers to the mine, finally arriving at 3:30 a.m. on August 7. Piñera, a business-friendly Chilean president inaugurated on March 11, 2010, had recruited Golborne, an engineer, entrepreneur, and corporate executive, to serve as Chile’s minister of mines. Golborne had served as chief executive of Cencosud S.A., a large retail firm, and under his leadership, the company had increased annual sales ten-fold, entered the Brazilian, Colombian, and Peruvian markets, and opened two new business lines, including financial William and Jacalyn Edgar Professor of Management...

Ronald Reagan Persuasive Paper

...all trades. President Reagan wanted the best for the American people. He didn’t want Americans to be so reliant on the government. This started the innovative program called the Reagan Revolution. While in college Ronald Reagan became interested in acting, but instead decided to become a radio sports announcer. He eventually moved to Chicago where he became the announcer for the Chicago Cubs baseball team. Reagan was in California with the Cubs for spring training and was screened by Warner Brothers and won a contract. He then appeared in 53 films. Granted not all of his films were great ones, but he did do very well and went after what he wanted. Some of the films he starred in were actually used against him during the campaign. They made fun of him because he was in a movie with a monkey. After Reagan’s acting career took off, he became more interested in politics and decided to run for governor of California in 1966, winning by a margin of one millions votes. Some people tended to disagree with the way he was running the state because he raised the state’s taxes, but he also lowered the state’s debt. Even through this controversy he was reelected as governor in 1970. Most Democrats laughed at Reagan running for governor because of some of his movies, and because his costar was a chimp in some of them. In 1980 Ronald Reagan was elected our 40th president, and also the oldest president to be voted in, at the age of 69. After only being in office for 69 days, he was shot...

President Too Much or Little Power?

...In this essay I am going to write about if the president have too much or too little power? In my opinion I personally believe that that in some ways the President has too much power today and the amount of power given to any one individual should carefully be monitored, some people might think that he has too much and others think not enough, I think it must be in moderation, becasue too much power could lead to corruption. I also feel that the power the president has should be limited. People says that the president has taken so much power from the other branches of government that this threatens our democratic system, the U.S. Constitution is supposed to prevent the president from using power in the wrong way. Article II states all the things that a president may do and some of the things that he or she may not do. People expect the president to deal with a huge number of problems. If there is economic trouble, they expect the president to cure it. Modern presidents don't just try to administer the laws passed by Congress. Nor do they merely recommend measures to Congress as required by the Constitution, through staff members, they often bring pressure on Congress to pass favored bills, including some actually written in the Executive Department. In Washington's day, many people thought the president's powers were only those directly mentioned in Article II of the Constitution. The first believed that the powers of the president were few and limited. Presidents of this type...

Inauguration Day

...Composition I Instructor Ginger Marcinkowski December 20, 2015 A Historic Inauguration I remember it like it was yesterday, feeling honored, excited and staring in awe among millions of people who were just as excited as me. I could not begin to comprehend how much this event would affect my life because I had a first-hand account of experiencing history. January 20, 2009, will forever be among the most remarkable events in my life. Witnessing the inauguration of our nation's’ first African American president holds a momentous place in my heart and mind. Two a.m. Sunday morning before Barack Obamas’ inauguration ceremony, many of my family and friends loaded a crowded charter bus for the historic journey to our Nations’ Capital to witness this life changing event. As we traveled 10 hours by bus to Washington D.C, you could hear women laugh like hyenas and gallant voices of men telling tales of when they encountered instances of racism and injustice. As I sat inaudible in my bucket seat wrapped in a patchwork chevron quilt, I immersed myself in the cultural conversations around me while acquiring knowledge of the struggles my elders endured during the Civil Rights Movement. One common facet in every conversation was the fact that they never thought they would live to see a black president. Oh, how it made me proud to see how our nation has evolved and that my elders lived to experience it too! Further down the road as we neared our destination, I started to...

Sona

...3rd State of the Nation Address President Aquino delivered his third annual report to the nation, telling his “bosses” the people that significant changes have been achieved “because in unity nothing is impossible.” In his State of the Nation Address (SONA), delivered in Filipino and which lasted for about one-and-a-half hours, the President also assured the people that the fight against corruption would ensure fair justice and prove that “there are no poor where there are no corrupt in government.” He said the people should not just “forgive and forget” as he recited a list of gains achieved by his administration because of proper allocation of resources. Aquino, who won on a platform of people power and volunteerism in 2010, also took the opportunity to rouse the people from apathy and make them participate more actively in improving their lives. “I stand before you today as the face of a government that knows you as its boss and draws its strength from you. I am only here to narrate the changes that you yourselves have made possible,” he said. “I repeat: what was once thought impossible is now possible. I stand before you today and tell you: This is not my SONA. You made this happen. This is the SONA of the Filipino nation,” he said. The President had been saying he is bent on making growth inclusive – meaning to make every Filipino feel the effects of economic developments brought about by better governance. His campaign two years ago was anchored on this platform...
