...Technology’s Impact on Employee Training Introduction Technology impacts every aspect of our lives in the 21st century. In our fast-paced professional environments, we continually seek efficiencies with our time management skills and training methods that meet the real time needs of both the organization and the individuals that require that these learning objectives are implemented into their daily jobs. In the past, on-the-job training offered the most effective avenue for transferring knowledge. However, with the introduction of technology in the United States during the 20th century, ensuring quality standards were implemented meant that organizations had to re-evaluate their training methodologies. Additionally, laws implemented to advocate for workers also brought about changes in the approach to employee training. With the onset of technology as a helpmeet for understanding the needs of an organization as well as offering training that helps grow the business, employers began implementing these new technological learning opportunities when offering employees both company-centric and legally required training. Noe (2010) tell us that, “Recognizing the value of human, social, and structural knowledge, many companies are attempting to become learning organizations and to manage knowledge in order to develop better products and improve customer service.” Therefore, as companies proceed into the 21st century and modify their approach to training on a global scale...

...The impact of technology Here are some statistics for you: More people currently have a mobile phone capable of accessing the internet than have a PC with net access (source: Mobile Top Level Domain, the organisation charged with overseeing the ‘.mobi’ domain name registration) Sending text messages is now almost as common as talking on mobile phones Only 12% of mobile users never use their phone for texting (and virtually half of these people are over 65). 70% of 15-24 year-olds say they ‘could not live’ without their mobile phone There are an estimated 110 million-150 million blogs in existence (although many of these are abandoned soon after they are established) Technology’s role in our lives is astonishing. Its effect on the way we communicate has changed the English language forever. To be more specific, the way we speak today is, by and large, the way we spoke before the internet became what it is, albeit with an enriched vocabulary. Conventions of telephone conversations have, to my mind, changed little: we still use the same methods – if not words – to greet and sign off, for example. What is hugely different, however, is the way we write today. That is the area where technology has had the biggest impact. Email altered the structure of the letter as a communicative tool. It brought with it a whole new etiquette, as well as new conventions and new abbreviations, such as IMO (in my opinion), FWIW (for what it’s worth), IIRC (if I remember correctly)...

...Today there are over 7.2 billion people on our planet and that number is increasing at an alarming rate. With advances in modern technology our population numbers have seen tremendous results. Doctors today are much more capable of preventing still born and infant deaths and have even made outstanding progress in in-vitro fertilization and other fertility drugs; giving many women the chance to carry children of their own where it would otherwise be deemed impossible if done so naturally. On the other end of the spectrum, doctors are now able to prolong life adding nearly 30 years to our life expectancy. With the human population expected to reach 8 billion people by 2024, can our planet actually sustain that many people? During the Industrial Revolution in the eighteenth century, population numbers began to rise hitting the 1 billion mark in the early 1800’s and has spiraled from there; hitting 2 billion in 1927, 3 billion in 1960, 4 billion 14 years later (1927), 13 years later in 1987 reaching 5 billion, 12 years after we were at 6 billion in 1999, and recently in 2011 we reached the 7 billion mark ("World population," n.d.). We as the human race are reproducing and staying alive much longer and with no sign of it slowing down any time soon. During the 20th century alone, the population of the earth has grown from 1.65 billion to 6 billion people. In 1970, there were roughly half as many people in the world as there are today. ("World population," n.d.). The Peoples Republic...

...course of the last decade; arguably as a direct result of technology. We are constantly reminded of the technological advances when attempting to complete the simplest of everyday tasks, viewing entertainment, and all other various forms of entertainment. Nearly everything we do on a daily basis requires some form of technology; cell phones, emailing, vehicles, computers, even schools are all the result of technological advancements that would not have been possible without the significant strides that have been taken in both the business and scientific worlds’. Understanding that technology carries such significance in our lives, can we fathom even just one day without any form of technology? For any business, technology impacts internal and external users alike; companies should take heed to view any new technology they want to implement from all aspects. The company should conduct research to ensure any technological changes will ultimately benefit their customers, employees, and potential customers. One of the most important things to do as a business owner is to ensure that all updated technology is done so in such a way that is conducive to new and repeat business; by maintaining customer awareness, this will aid in the IT team developing the most beneficial technological advances while also discovering new ideas for improvement. * A business should introduce a new product to customers using technology. Technology gives individuals the ability to gain experience or knowledge...

...study the impact of information technology and artificial intelligence on the organization, privacy and control, research and instructional practices and ethics. Evolution of information technology has affected all these practices, and has helped them in improving their performance in some way. Information technology has opened a new era of information for today's organization (it might be business, non-profit, educational, research etc.) and has enabled it to gather and communicate information and thus function in a more effective way. On the other hand decision-making capability of the computers has changed the pattern of authority and responsibility with in the organization. Although information technology has bombarded the organization with all kind of information, but it has failed to take into account the limited capability of the society to absorb and use all the available information. In order to make information technology more effective, it must have the capability of providing the organization with relevant information and should be able to realize the needs of the users instead of procedures. Along with providing information, information technology has given rise to various technological problems, like establishing rules to use the available information and protecting it to be accesses by undesirable people. Another thing that the organization needs to be aware about, is the quality of information in order to make quality decisions. Information technology and artificial...

...of a highly technological culture, we all use technologies as a part of our daily lives. These technologies are often taken for granted. Some students talk endlessly about a new video game or how they “can't live without” their cell phone or MP3 player. In our society, many people have embraced the benefits of high-technology without considering the possible negative effects of relying too much on these devices. In this assignment, you will have the opportunity to reflect upon the role technology plays in your life and examine how you feel about its effects on your life and the world around you. Requirements Write a report that is approximately 500 – 600 words (two word-processed, double-spaced pages) and outlines the significant interactions that you have had with technology during your life. Autobiographies are usually written in chronological order, but you may use other structures such as flashback or flash-forward if they make sense for your story. Also, because autobiographies typically use first-person, you can use “I” in your paper. To begin, you should take five or ten minutes and brainstorm a list of the technologies that you currently use or have used in the past. It may help to consider the following questions: What technology do you have in your backpack or locker? What technology do you see in the classroom? What technology do you see in other classrooms and locations in the school? What technology do you see in the workplace (yours, a family...

...The Impact of Technologies on Teenagers An Assignment Submitted by Name of Student Name of Establishment Class XXXX, Section XXXX, Spring 2013 Nowadays, information technologies play a significant role in the modern world. Information technologies have a long history. Some technologies were created a few years ago, while some technologies are comparatively new. Technologies have penetrated all spheres of human activities: education, politics, trade, medicine, and this list can be prolonged. Television and phones are considered to be the primary technologies which appeared in the life of human beings. New technologies were produces in great amounts. Nonetheless, people used those technologies to simplify the process of fulfilling domestic duties. T. K. Derry et. al. mentioned that “domestic housing, though it followed on the whole traditional forms, made use of new materials and new techniques of mass production” (Derry et. al., 1961, p. 403). With further development of information technologies, many other technologies appeared. The main of them are the following ones: iPhones, iPads, and many others. Technologies have produced a great impact on teenagers: phones, television, Internet, and video games have many advantages and disadvantages; they are able to make people technologically informed, but they produce a negative impact on people’s health simultaneously. The invention of mobile phones has produced a great impact on people all over the world:...

...Introduction Technology has left its magical touch everywhere. Business organizations are not out of that magical touch. Organization development and technology are very closely related. Every organization leverages technology to support their overall strategy. Different organizations are using technology to a various extent. By using technology, organizations have become more efficient than organizations before them. Technology allows the organization to achieve their goals. Technological developments enable productivity allowing reorganization of organizational structure, activities and culture. In return, it greatly improves the effectiveness of the organization. However, for this to last and stay a reality, the use of technology should be leveraged at its fullest extent to maximize results. Indeed, the rise in productivity could be a result of organizations having the ability to grasp, appreciate and absorb current technological advances into their structure, creation and culture. Efficient business processes enable business ventures to save money and time. To hold market share, organizations also try to incorporate the latest technologies as much as possible. Organizations should continue to strive to use modern systems that are concurrent with the latest technological advancement. Therefore, regulating modern systems confirms that organizations consistently use up-to-date technological systems to improve business procedures, as well as ensures that those systems and...

...The Impact of Technology in the Workplace The impact of computer technology in the workplace has been enormous within the past decade, both positive and negative. Distant communication through the use of computers and mobile devices have overhauled the office setting completely. Email, social networking sites and the world of the Internet have opened a whole new avenue of communication. Technology has changed the entire workplace environment, the relationships, and how things get done. Office workers and businesses are not limited to phone calls, meetings or mail to communicate with each other anymore. Electronic email can be used and not interrupt the recipient. The recipients can respond immediately or at a later time.Virtual calls and meetings allow for distant participation in meetings without everyone actually being physically present. Clients, business partners and employees can telecommunicate from their location of choice. The use of mobile of technology has eliminated the importance of an actual physical office space. Work can be done while traveling, across continents, or even from home. Even employees in the same office can chat, share projects, SKYPE to share screens and make group decisions without even being in the same room. Customer Service Departments use technology to serve customers in a timely manner as well. Automated phone systems and email expedite customer service questions and issues...
