How Romeo is impatient

Romeo has been many different types of emotions such as bipolar or depressed, but to many people, they think that Romeo has been more impatient in the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. The play is about two kids who fall in love but their families are against each other but they still love each other. Throughout the entire story Romeo has been showing signs of impatience and did not think about what he was going to do next. There were many scenes where Romeo has been impatient and the first time was when he decided to go off and marry Juliet. They rushed into the marriage, which caused friction in the households. Another way that Romeo was feverish was when he killed Tybalt. Romeo literally did not think …show more content…
Juliet and Romeo met at the Capulet’s party and they fell instantly in love. Shakespeare calls them “star-crossed lovers” which is when lovers relationship is doomed to fail, so immediately I would think that their relationship was not going to work out. On the same night at the Capulet’s party, when the party was over, Juliet says to Romeo, “Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow; By one that I’ll procure to come to thee; Where and what time thou wilt perform the rite.”(2.2, 144-147) In those three lines, Juliet says that she will send a messenger the next day to see if he have full intentions of marrying her. She says she will meet him at any time. Juliet sent the Nurse to see if Romeo wanted to marry Juliet and he did, so they end up getting married. The next day they were in the church and Juliet and Romeo were talking and The Friar says, “Come, come with me, and we will make short work.; For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone; Till holy church incorporate two in one.”(2.6, 36-37) In this line, the Friar is saying that he will not leave Juliet and Romeo alone until they are married and that he is ready to marry them. Romeo and Juliet are immediately married a day after they met at the Capulet’s party. I think that they should have waited and thought about getting married before getting married. This is one of the three ways of how Romeo was impetuous in this

Childish Love In Romeo And Juliet

...Essay Option #2 Dazia Grigsby I do not believe Romeo and Juliet are really in love in William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet. I believe that their childish love is based purely on their physical love for one another. Their first kiss was 5 minutes after they first meet, Romeo only wants to talk to her because he is physically attracted to her, Romeo was head over heels for Rosaline seconds before he meets Juliet, both characters are selfish, and they basically use marriage as an excuse for having sex. These are some of the reasons why I believe this love story isn’t really about love at all. When Romeo and Juliet first meet, the only reason for them to be attracted to one another is for physical reasons and Romeo had just been whining about Rosaline, moments before. Usually the only reason someone decides they like someone without knowing who they are, is based on their appearance. Romeo isn’t any different. The first time he looks at her he says, “What lady’s that which doth enrich the hand/ of yonder knight?...

Who Was To Blame For Romeo And Juliet's Death Essay

...In the infamous play, Romeo and Juliet (by Shakespeare), there are many different people to blame for their deaths, but one of the main people is Romeo Montague himself. You may be confused at this point asking, how is he responsible for his own death? Although Romeo was a smart boy, he made some not so smart decisions. One example of this is when he killed Tybalt to avenge his good friend, Mercutio, that Tybalt had killed earlier that day. He was impatient, naïve, stubborn, and he constantly let his emotions get the best of him in the worst times. In the beginning of the play, Romeo was head over heels in love with Rosaline, later in the plot line, when he sees Juliet at the ball he forgets all about Rosaline, and claims he loves Juliet. This is an example of how he did not know his own emotions, they were constantly changing, even Friar Lawrence took notice of this in...

Romeo And Juliet Impulsive Quotes

...Romeo and Juliet Everybody makes bad decisions somewhere in their life, even if some people end up making ones worse a lot earlier in their life. Therefore, Juliet was the most responsible for her and Romeo’s death because she was impatient, impulsive and immature. To begin, Juliet’s impatience had only started to show after she happened to meet Romeo at the party being thrown at her house. One of the biggest acts of impatience in both her and Romeo is how badly they both want to get married. This is mostly shown during the famous balcony scene where Juliet says, “Th’ exchange of thy love’s faithful vow for mine.” (2.2.134) Both Romeo and Juliet only spoke once before this, meaning that they have known each other for less than an hour and knew barely anything about the other. For Juliet to have already felt the need to propose to Romeo is incredibly impatient and foolish thinking. Therefore, Juliet’s impatience was one of the most important reasons to...

Romeo and Juliet

...The play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is about two star-crossed lovers that come from rival families, yet fate brings them together and despite the grudge that each family holds for each other. In life, people change, in good drama just like the characters in Romeo and Juliet. It can be explored through the characters: Lord Capulet, Friar Lawrence and Romeo Montague. Lord Capulet started off being very moderate but towards the end he becomes immoderate, with the rushing of the wedding of Juliet and Paris. Friar Lawrence changes from trying to help everyone else into being selfish and helping himself. Lastly, Romeo Montague changes from being a silly, lustful young boy into a mature man. At the beginning of the play, Lord Capulet is a moderate and genial man . A significant quote about Lord Capulet from the opening section of the play is: “ What noise is this? Give me my long sword, ho!”This quote suggests that Lord Capulet was eager to fight despite his age and authority. A major turning point for Lord Capulet is when he forces Juliet into marrying Paris and threatens her that if she does not marry Paris, then she had better not look upon him ever again. and calls her a “disobedient wretch” By the end of the play, Lord Capulet displays the following qualities: Impatient, tyrant and nastiness. An important quote supporting this is: “An you be mine, I’ll give you to my friend......” This illustrates that Lord Capulet has made a decision that Paris should be Juliet’s...

They are from two very different families who are bitter rivals, the Capulets and the Montagues. In the play, it shows and depicts the problems that arise when they fall in love, and how their impatience in important events leads to the downfall of their marriage in the end. Romeo and Juliet are to blame for all the misfortune experienced in this book, due to the impatience and stubbornness of each; Shakespeare created this to show how important patience is during crucial events. Because of their impatience, their marriage is torn apart, and both end up dead as the play comes to a close. Romeo and Juliet sealed their own fate, and are the only ones to blame for all the misfortune they experienced during the play. Friar Lawrence To Blame In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

...The characters to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death are themselves, along with Friar Lawrence. Romeo and Juliet are both to blame because of their impatient attitude and quick decision making, along with their adolescence. I believe that several characters are to blame for other than Romeo and Juliet, but if I had to choose, it would be Friar Lawrence. His encouragement towards Romeo and Juliet being together was a huge impact on how the story turned out. In my opinion, Friar Lawrence is most to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet. From the beginning of the play, Friar was the one to agree to marry the two of them. Friar should’ve been the practical one, knowing that it was a bad idea to have Romeo and Juliet together, but instead he...

Relationship Between Romeo And Juliet Essay

...Romeo and Juliet, a play written by William Shakespeare is set during Elizabethan times .It explores how the thoughts and actions of young adults contributes to the ‘ancient grudge’ between the feuding families. Sampson and Gregory, the servants of the Capulet act rebellious and self-absorbed as a result of anger towards the ‘dog[s] of the house of Montague’. The ordinary discussions of topics such as their ‘pretty piece[s] of flesh’ the exploitation of multiple women and outperforming each other foreshadows and sparks all the ‘profaner’ conflict in ‘fair Verona’. Romeo and Juliet also contribute to that as they convey similar attitudes as the servants. The fact that they are adolescents as well, gives them more of a reason to be compensated...

Romeo and Juliet: Who Was at Fault

...only by fortuity, but also as a result of one’s own actions. Both fate and one’s own accord are key elements that correlate to a specific occurrence or chain of occurrences. One such example includes William Shakespeare’s tragic play, Romeo and Juliet. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet’s fates were dependent on various constituents, some of which were inevitable nonetheless or due to chance, some due to one or another’s own accord, yet all of which ultimately led to their demises. Character is a crucial contributor to one’s fate. Both Romeo and Juliet display very prominent foibles that contributed to their demises. Impatient and naïve by nature, this duo’s flaws in character would ultimately beseech their tragic, death-marked love affair. For instance, in Act 2, scene 2, when Romeo was courting Juliet on her balcony the same night that he had made her acquaintance, Juliet declared, “If that thy bent of love be honorable, thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow, by one that I’ll procure to come to thee, where and what time thou wilt perform the rite, and all my fortunes at thy foot I’ll lay and follow thee my lord throughout the world.” (Lines 143-148) How naïve. The couple had just encountered each other that very night, and yet, Juliet is boldly stating that unless Romeo’s love did...

Romeo and Juliet - Haste

...William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet - Haste In the play, Romeo and Juliet, everything happens very quickly, this is why one of the main themes in Romeo and Juliet is haste. As a result of haste, Romeo and Juliet wind up married and dead within the course of five days. Throughout this play, three characters stand out when it comes to haste; Capulet, Juliet, and of course Romeo. Once Capulet decides that he wants Paris and Juliet to be married, he tries to move things along very quickly. At first, Capulet wants Paris to wait two years before he marries Juliet because she is so young. “My child is yet a stranger in the world, / She hath not seen the change of fourteen years; / Let two more summers wither in their pride, / Ere we may think her ripe to be a bride” (Shakespeare, 1.2.8-11). Capulet then changes his mind but is furious when Juliet does not want to marry Paris. “Is she not proud? doth she not count her blest, / Unworthy as she is, that we have wrought / So worthy a gentleman to be her bride?” (3.5.143-145), “Hang thee, young baggage, disobedient wretch! / I tell thee what: get thee to church a’Thursday, / Or never after look me in the face” (3.5.160-162). Although Juliet does not agree to marry Paris, Capulet agrees for her and makes the wedding date Thursday. Capulet is so anxious for this marriage to happen, that when Juliet finally agrees, he changes the date to Wednesday. Capulet is very quick to make this wedding happen as a result of haste. Due...

She expresses her impatience by saying, “come, civil night, thou sober-suited matron, all in black, and learn me how to lose a winning match…”(3.2.10-13) She’s not only eager for night to arrive, but nighttime presents the opportunity for her to lose her virginity. Comparing Baz Lust In William Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

...I believe that Romeo and Juliet were not in love, and throughout the play it was merely lust. There love was doomed from the start. Not only did they rush their feelings, but their families hated each other. Juliet was set to marry another man that her father gave approve of, Paris and with the secretivity of Romeo and Juliet's marriage there's not many ways it could have lasted. Juliet wasn't the only one that was preoccupied with plans for the future, Romeo was madly in love with Roselin. “Out of her favor, where I am in love.” (Romeo I. II. 158) Juliet didn’t want much to do with Paris, while Romeo wanted everything to do with Roselin, mostly to bed her. Also, Juliet was extremely skeptical about marriage and the thought of having to...

Is Friar Laurence To Blame For Romeo And Juliet's Death?

...by love or romance. For example, the play "Romeo and Juliet", by William Shakespeare, is known for it's romantic tragedy between two star- crossed lovers. With all of the deaths in this tragic play, who truly is to blame? In my opinion, Friar Laurence is the most to blame. There are many reasons why I think that Friar Laurence is to blame for Romeo and Juliet's death. Reason 1: Friar Laurence was aware that Romeo and Juliet weren't supposed to get married because of their families rivalry. The forbidden wedding of Romeo and Juliet would have never happened if Friar Laurence thought about the consequences of his actions. In scene III (three), Friar Laurence's Cell, Friar Laurence states, "For this alliance may so happy prove, To turn your household's rancor to pure love." This shows that Friar Laurence was hopeful and thought that marrying Romeo and Juliet would be a good idea and could possibly end the family's feud. Without Friar Laurence agreeing to Romeo's plan for marriage, he could have saved the two families a lot of time by not grieving over everyone who has died. Friar Laurence didn't think about the possible consequences of marrying Romeo and Juliet, and therefore, I think the death of Romeo and Juliet is Friar Laurence's fault. Reason 2: Friar...

Examples Of Juxtaposition In Romeo And Juliet

...In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare writes about a tragic love story between two star-crossed lovers. His writing also includes many examples of juxtaposition to help characterize the personality of the characters in his play. This supports Juliet’s actions of being impatient, and how Romeo has a gorgeous face, but an ugly heart. Juxtaposition is defined as the fact of two things being compared closely together, such as beauty and ugliness. Shakespeare uses juxtaposition as an indirect characterization in Romeo and Juliet to show how complex their relationship is to retain. Shakespeare uses juxtaposition to highlight that Romeo’s love for Juliet ironically ends up complicating his life and relationships with his friends and relatives. Romeo can only describe Juliet as,“Beauty too rich for use, for Earth too dear,”(1.5.45). He is so unbelievably in love with Juliet that he cannot see Juliet as anything other than a beautiful face. Romeo can only describe his pain of being rejected by a, “Heavy lightness! Serious vanity,”(1.1.171). Juliet’s love is weighing Romeo down, but he has serious...
