Introduction Health care is based off of the research of those who have questions or researchers searching for answers. A young lady, who is not a physician but had a question about something she read wanted an answer to her question. This paper will discuss her question, research method and her results from conducting her research.
A young lady, Lauren Hodge, researched topic was about carcinogens, “a substance that causes cancer” and which substance causes the cancerous cells to develop (merriam-webster, 2016).
The topic of carcinogens first intrigued Lauren while visiting the doctor’s office as she read a lawsuit. She also knew that grilled chicken is a healthier choice to prepare chicken but the marinades that is used to season the chicken is the reason why the cancerous cells grow on the chicken. Her mother cooked for dinner grilled chicken and noticed that there was change in the meat; the meat turned whit around the edges. She wanted to know how and why these changes occur in the process.
Lauren used different kinds of marinades to help with the research which included lemon juice, salt water, brown sugar, soy sauce and olive oil. She first baked the chicken without any marinades, she then baked more chicken using each of the above marinades.
Lauren used qualitative research to conduct her hypothesis. Her choice of using this research methodology helps proves the reasons and motivation for the chemical changes that happened when the chicken is baked in the different marinades. Qualitative research method helped Lauren to go a step further and determine the actual ph changes while the marinating process and the percentages of the ph changes.
Lauren’s results showed that the lemon juice marinade had a profound effect on keeping the ph levels stable enough to decrease the chances of carcinogens from growing. The second best marinade was the brown sugar marinade which had a slightly higher ph level change in the chicken. The soy sauce had the highest levels of ph, which means that the chances of carcinogens growing on the chicken were higher. Also, her research showed that the amount of time the chicken was baked, over cooking, had a higher chance of the cancerous cells of growing.
An administrator can use this example of research to deliver the proper service to their patients. Researching, collecting data and comparing information to other facilities would also aid with their decisions. The duty of an administrator is to ensure that the facility has the most recent technology and has the best of employees to utilize that technology will help improve the health care organization they are over.
Conclusion
Research is an important factor in health care. Lauren’s research could very well help improve the way food is prepared and help those preparing it be more conscience while cooking. Also, her research could even give some insight to physicians when a person has signs and symptoms of carcinogens.

Importance of research in general The main purpose of research is to inform. The knowledge of research helps the researcher to develop disciplined thinking, to observe things objectively, to evaluate and make rational decisions about specific topics. Research is important when conducted correctly because it helps us to understand and possibly even solve existing or possible problems. This could be anything from social issues to medical or scientific breakthroughs. Governments, organizations, institutions or individuals carry out research all of the time in order to come to conclusions about policies and strategies. Without this research and knowledge, it would be difficult to make a change. Research will aim to answer such questions so that informed decisions can be made about what strategies will help. Research helps us in many...

...Importance of Research When writing college papers, grants or just presentations for work research is the most important process of the writing process. This paper will discuss the three segments of the TEDTalks: Award –Winning Teenage Science in Action video. The three segments discuss carcinogens, chemotherapy and asthma. Segment 1 Lauren Hodge conducted a research study on carcinogens in grilled chicken. The hypothesis developed by Lauren was “could possibly the carcinogens be decreased due to a marinade and could it be due to the differences in pH?” ( ). This topic was important to Lauren, because while in the doctor’s office she read an article that discussed a lawsuit pertaining to California’s Proposition 65. The magazine article discussed the hidden danger of carcinogens in the food we eat. Lauren was surprised to find that more people had no idea about the dangers of carcinogens in our food. Lauren collected data for analyzation in three different stages. In the first stage Lauren marinated all of the chicken at home in five different marinades. The second stage was completed at Penn State University and she extracted the chemicals, changed the pH, and ran it through the lab equipment which in turn separated the compounds. In the third and final stage Lauren ran the samples through a high pressure liquid chromatography mass spectrometer, which separated the compounds and analyzed the chemicals, and told her exactly how much carcinogens she had in the chicken. Lauren’s...

They do so in many different ways and in many different settings. One important area is education. Conducting research in an educational setting should be an important aspect of every educator’s professional life. Best and Kahn (1993) describe research as “the systematic and objective analysis and recording of controlled observations that may lead to the development of generalizations, principles, or theories, resulting in prediction and possibly ultimate control of events” (p. 27). Education in a research setting is done to improve school practices and at the same time to improve those individuals who strive to improve those practices (Best & Kahn, 1993). The importance of research in an educational setting is often overlooked, however. Those in academia often consider research as a way to earn tenure or remain in favor by the university that employs them. Faculty who wish to thrive in the university setting must publish or perish in order to remain employed. Educators often forget that they are failing to fulfill their pedagogical responsibilities if they do not remain current in their...

It gives people the ability to develop a deep understanding of the topic and the skills to display that information in a way that is clear and concise. The need for strong researching and communication skills in college is critical to being able to pass certain courses. In this class, I have learned how to go more in depth into my research and how to effectively work with a group to get the required objectives met. Being in a group takes the work load and divides it up into more manageable tasks for everyone to complete. If each member of the group completes the assigned work and communicates effectively, then the common goal is achieved better than it would if a single individual took on the entire workload. ARTS, FACULTY OF ARTS UNIVERSITY OF UYO, UYO TO THE COURSE LECTURER, MR. NSIKAN SEMAM NOVEMBER, 2010 IMPORTANCE OF AUDIENCE RESEARCH ON MASS MEDIA BROADCASTING ABSTRACT For any activity to be carried out well, some form of feedback is needed. Try walking with your eyes shut, and you will soon bump into something. Even without your thinking about it, the feedback from your eyes is used to correct your steps. In the same way, any organization that does not keep its eyes open is likely to meet with an accident. In the media industries, the equivalent to walking is broadcasting the programs. The equivalent of watching where you are going is audience research. INTRODUCTION Andrew Hart is among many writers, theorists and researchers who identify and value the existence of the audience in relation to the media. At the most basic level, audiences are vital in communication. It is for the audience that the media are constructing and conveying information, and, if it were not for the audiences, the media would not exist. The exact relationship between the media and their audiences has been the subject of debate since the media were first seriously studied and emphasizes the importance of the audience and of their relationship with the media. The Importance of Market Research

...Abstract “Market research is a pragmatic process and, as such, cannot be considered to adhere to “pure” scientific method, but nonetheless most research projects do adhere to a quasi-scientific approach” (Bont, 2007). In the past companies struggled to be market oriented but with todays companies that all you see. Most companies when they start their marketing the first thing they do is think what the customer wants or needs and design off of that. In this paper, I interviewed the vice president of marketing and public relations from my local bank. I asked her questions related to how she gathers her data for market research, which is her research target area, and what types of marketing she does to get customers familiar with her bank. The Importance of Market Research “Market research is a way of investigating and answering questions about human behavior” (Bont & Hamersveld, 2007). ...Integrate Science and Arts Process Skills in the Early Childhood Curriculum How can early childhood teachers help children think creatively, discover new possibilities, and connect their ideas? Integrate science and the arts in the curriculum! “The greatest scientists are also artists as well.” –Albert Einstein Kathy Morrison Art and science are intrinsically linked—the essence of both fields is discovery. Artists and scientists function systematically and creatively. Their knowledge, understanding, and outcomes are explored in hands-on studios or high-tech labs. In classrooms for all ages, integrating science and the visual arts offer children the latitude to think, discover, and make connections (Alberts, 2011). • Young children are also natural artists (Althouse, Johnson, & Mitchell, 2003). Most are delighted to participate in open-ended art activities, dramatic play, singing, and dancing. Young children paint, sculpt, sing, or dance in their own unique ways. They want to be involved in the visual and performing arts, to try new things, and to experiment with the familiar (Pinciotti, 2001). For young children, the process in science and art is much more important than whatever product may result (Stivers & Schudel, 2008). The fundamental science process skills for early childhood are to • • • • • observe, communicate, compare, measure, and organize (Sarquis, 2009). Art and science are intrinsically linked. Scientists and artists typically observe life from...
