Identify what you believe about God, the Bible, and Jesus Christ.

I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God according to the flesh. (Romans 1:3 KJV). In order to have ever lasting life, we must believe that Jesus came and that he died for our sins, in the flesh so that we can live again. The bible is truly the inspired word of God, giving a true history of the creation of heaven and earth. (The Apostles Doctrine). The best way to experience Jesus Christ is to have a personal relationship with the Lord, and allow him to reside in your heart, to feel his great power, and humbleness he is. I’ve been walking with the Lord from the early age of seven. And what I find so amazing about him, is that when he speaks to me, it’s a quite soft voice, that came be misunderstood if you don’t know him. (50–100 words) For me, it is important to know what I believe and why is because I want to do just as stated in 1 Peter 3:15, "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" I was recently caught in a situation where I couldn't, and I felt ashamed that I couldn't answer a question about God and some of the more deeper things about God and what I believe. What I believe about God is He is the head of the trinity and oversees and commands everything. I believe He sent Jesus to die for us so we can have a way to pay for our sins. I believe Jesus suffered much pain, and temptations. Therefore He knows what we go through every day and wants us to trust Him. The Bible is where I go to in order to find answers to all questions in life. All three are the foundation of my life, and I couldn't do anything without them. What is it important to know what you believe and why you believe? I feel it is important to know what you believe and know why—so you may be a better witness for the Lord. Rough Draft

...Prof. Sharpe God has been a very important part of my live since I was a very little girl. When I was only a couple of months old I was baptized. That was my first spiritual encounter with God. I then proceeded to commit my first communion in third grade. I then received my confirmation when I was in eighth grade. Like I said before God has been a very important part in my life for a very long time. Who is God? What are his characteristics? I believe that God is the person who created me and he is the person I believe in. I also think that God is the creator of the world and that has control over everything that happens in my life. I think that some of God’s characteristics are that he has the ability to make things happen. I think that he makes certain things happen for a reason. I also believe that one of God’s characteristics is to be there for you in your time of need. I believe this because god knows what you can and cannot do. God is not going to give you something that he thinks that you are going to fail at, I believe that he is going to challenge us a human beings but I believe that he is going to challenge us with things that he knows that we can do. A human being is a person that God puts on the earth to represent him in some way. I believe that God makes all human beings different because he wants us to be our own person but still reflect him in someway. I believe that when a person dies another person is born. I believe this because God is going to call people...

Becoming a Critical Thinker

...Becoming a Critical Thinker By Dr. Lew A. Weider “A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps.” Proverbs 14:15 What Was He Thinking?! How many times have we said these words out loud as we watch reality home videos on television? You know the kind—the people who will do anything to get on TV! Like the guy that took his sled up onto the roof after a heavy snowfall. His bravado was showing all over as he stood on the roof, waving his sled for all to see. The stunt he intended to perform was to go sledding off of his roof and happily land on the deck below. No doubt he thought that all of that snow would help him make the perfect soft landing. Boy was he wrong! It was a brutal scene. He made a crash landing onto the deck. There was no more bravado. His body was crumpled in a heap in the midst of the splintered pieces of his sled. What was he thinking? His passion to attempt the impossible overshadowed his ability to think at all. We often have to set aside our passion to think clearly, to think critically, in order to make wise decisions. Critical Thinking It is a common practice we do every day, but we may never even be aware of it. For example, in the English language, how do you know whether the word “r-e-a-d” should be understood as a directive to “read a book,” or if it is to be understood as a past-tense word describing a moment that someone “had already read that book last week?” Critical thinking. Another example is with...

Gossip

...November 2012 Why Are You Gossiping? Men don’t “gossip” and tune down their hearing capability to minimum when girls start talking, while girls like sharing details about our lives to our friends and boyfriends. Not only do we think it allows us to become one but also not let the relationship die by there being an awkward silence. Men, on the other hand, would rather not hear about those details and think they are a waste of time. Sharing details with the opposite sex is very important in the beginning but once they are further in the relationship men tend to not pay attention to those details. When two people are falling in love they tend to listen to details more because they believe that if they remember what the other said that is a way of showing that they are really in love and care about the other. No one wants to tell their significant other something important and for the other not to listen or remember. It is like a waste of breathe telling someone something so important to you and them not to even care. That is why most couples who are falling in love tend to actually listen to each other’s personal life. They like finding out what they like and what they don’t like, because what if the guy buys a beautiful bouquet of red roses but didn’t know that the girl’s favorite flowers are sunflowers. To the girl that is turn off because she would have rather appreciated receiving her favorite flower other than the red roses. It is important to know what their favorite things...

...colors. If you ask someone why those are “girl” colors or “boy” colors the response is generally “because they are”. Who decided that those colors have a gender preference? Who even decided those are those colors? This class led me to question society itself and realize we give things an identity based on what we are told. The most important thing I learned was the inverted spectrum. I am going to define what the inverted spectrum is, explain what it is, and provide examples how it applies to everyday lives. Then I will explain that the inverted spectrum is important to me because in reality no one can understand my mental state no matter how I explain it, I learned to think for myself, and perception is our reality even though it may be completely false. I will then explain some counter arguments against my reasons such as knowing someone’s mental state because of a similar event or emotion and that we believe what we believe based on facts that are then passed down from person to person. Then I will explain how the counter arguments are incorrect. Finally, I will conclude my argument. The inverted spectrum suggests things are not just input, output because of our own experiences. We do not learn through input and output such as mathematics but our experiences. What this means is someone could pick up a pink crayon but see black but are always told that that color is pink so they see the pink crayon as black but no one else will ever know that. An example of this is you can think...

...Discussion Questions Chapter 2 1. Why is it important to understand the different perspectives and approaches to management theory that have evolved throughout the history of organizations? Management is constantly changing. It changes over time to meet new needs. if we know what happened in the past (WHAT WORK/ WHAT DIDN'T) WE WILL be able to understand the present and plan for the future. Some ideas from the past (stock ownership, open book management) are still relevant to management today. it is also important for us to understand the evolution of management because it allows us to learn from the mistakes made by others, so as not to repeat them and use the success in order to use them at the appropriate time. 2. How do societal forces influence the practice and theory of management? Do you think new management techniques are a response to these forces? Social forces deal with the society. The Importance of a Christian Worldview

...everyone has a worldview. It is especially imperative for believers to know their worldview so that they can apply it to their everyday lives. It is important for Christians to develop a worldview in order to be a witness for Christ, defend one’s faith, and discern what is good. Being a witness for Christ is one of a Christians primary purposes. Scriptures say that people were created for God’s glory and to proclaim his praises (1 Chronicles 16:23-25); therefore, a worldview is necessary in order to know exactly what to believe and teach it. A worldview is a person’s ultimate beliefs and assumptions about the universe. In order to be a witness for Christ, believers must follow the basic set of beliefs Christianity teaches. For example: there is a God, God is everything, we were created by God in his image, morality is grounded in Gods character, etc. Without these basic principles there is no basis for what is being taught and what the prophet believes. Jeremiah 1:7-8 says, “But the LORD said to me,’ Do not say I am too young, you must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you, Do not be afraid of them for I am with you and will rescue you declares the LORD.” The Bible teaches that Christians are expected to spread the Lord’s message no matter what the circumstances may be. In conclusion, in order to witness as the Bible instructs, Christians must develop a worldview, which guides what believers are teaching. Another essential part of practicing...

Worldview

...Worldview Biblical Worldview “A worldview is the framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world.”[1] says David Noebel, author of Understanding the Times. When you begin to think about worldview as it pertains to religion, it is simply the belief that forms your actions and reactions to life. A worldview can be personal, biblical, scientific. Everyone has a view or an opinion and/or a belief about religion. The atheist even believe, they believe there is no God, it is however a belief. One may ask, how are those beliefs formed? Is it when our children and our parents decide for us by teaching us what has been taught to them by their parents? One may feel that it is by tradition that we form our beliefs. This makes sense to us because it is what made sense to our parents, to their parents, and so on. As a child, I became a Christian because my biblical worldview began with my parents and grandparents. They took me to church every Sunday and I attended Sunday school where I began studying and learning of God’s word. I learned if you want to have eternal life you must believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Once we have formed our beliefs, what guides us daily, what give us awareness of right and wrong? For Christians our roadmap is the Bible and for Muslims it is the Qur’an and for Jews it is the Tanakh. We have learned that God inspired the Bible. The Bible is the recordation of events that happen...

Essentials of Christianity

...Period 6 Honors English In Acts 16:30, after God shows his power and transformation to a jailer, he asks Paul and Silas, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" (ESV). This is a common question asked by so many today when God is working in their lives. Many have a desperate desire to know how they can be saved from God's wrath but it seems so unclear in today's culture. However, although it can be complicated, it is also very simple what God requires for salvation. Ultimately, the way to God is a personal relationship with him. However, in order to have this relationship, there are three certain beliefs and truths that Christians put faith in, although many believe that one must do more to be in Christ. The three essentials to the Christian faith are: God's word is authoritative, Jesus is the perfect son of God who came as a Man to die on the cross and rose again to save Man from their sin, and it is by faith and repentance in Christ that man is able to have a relationship with Him. Although the belief is not supported by the Bible, many people say that it is essential to salvation to be baptized, thus turning Christianity into a works based religion. Church of Christ believes that it is necessary to be baptized to be saved, using Mark 16:16 as evidence (Wright). Mark 16:16 says, "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned" (ESV). However, Houdmann states that one must notice "While this verse tells us something about believers who...
