Improving Student Feedback
Introduction
Student feedback to assignments at Ashford University has been lacking over the past several years. One of the main issues with feedback is that a second assignment is usually due before the first assignment is even graded. The lack of feedback causes the student to be unable to correct issues with their written documents in a timely manner thus causing the issue to be repeated in the next assignment. Another big problem is the lack of detailed feedback. A normal feedback consists of something along the line of “incorrect APA formatting” or “lack of detail”. This sort of feedback does not help the student improve their work, it only causes frustration. To improve student understanding and work quality, Ashford University should improve the teacher feedback immediately. This proposal views the feedback problem from the viewpoint of a student. This proposal then offers a solution to improve the feedback problem between students and teachers. The source of information for this proposal is a student at Ashford University for the past three years. The lack of teacher feedback prevents students from reaching their full potential in classes at Ashford University. By improving teacher feedback we will allow students to improve throughout a class instead of being stagnant at whatever level of work the complete with their first assignment. This proposed plan addresses a way for teachers and students to have a more open dialogue and more detailed feedback.
Body
An adequate solution to resolve the lack of teacher feedback is to create a discussion post each week between only the teacher and the student. This solution would have three distinct phases; advertise the new discussion, implement the post, and monitor the teacher activity to ensure participation.
