Richard Rodriguez’s essay discusses how American immigrants and their generations that follow are creating a multicultural nation that is beyond the “black-and-white”. He argues that the age-old American debate between black and white has become less heated, and that there is more to the equation than that. Rodriguez makes the point that race is beginning to mix, and that the conversation makes little or no reference to other race and ethnicities.
