In What Ways Did You Improve This Year?

In what ways did I improve myself this year? In my opinion I believe I improved this year more than any other years. I didn’t improve as much as I wished to, but I did improve instead of staying where I was at. I focused on my missing assignments, attendance, and tardies this year. I have improved on my missing assignments this year vs how they were last year. My missing assignments this year were not the best but they improved so much. I used to get whole pages freshman year of missing assignments, the most I ever got this year was less than half a page! I did great in my opinion and I am very proud of where was this year with missing work. I doubt that almost everyone hasn’t gotten at least one missing assignment in their life, but when you go from not ever doing your work and having huge pages of missing work, I don’t think you can just go to zero right away. Now I’m going to talk about my attendance goals and achievements. …show more content…
I didn’t have perfect attendance or match my goal, but I did try hard. I know when I say that people will comment “How hard could you have tried if you got more than 10 missing days?” Well sometimes it’s harder or a different situation with others so you maybe can’t make it to school. I know by looking at my report card, that I did do better than last year though and I am proud of myself for that. The reason I can use those sentences to support my sentences is because some kids never miss school. Some kids skip school on purpose but the reasoning for most of my absences is because my stuff is serious and I;m not just skipping out on school. A lot of people would say that, but for me school is boring but I like being able to come to school and get peace and quiet and get away from my family and go to 7 classes a day and be bored rather than being stuck at home. Next I am proud of my tardies this

Personal Narrative: Jackie Robinson's Life

...“Life is not a spectator sport.” Throughout life we face many challenges and many barriers that will try to keep us from accomplishing what we want. There are multiple ways to address these challenges, and the solution to a problem is different for everybody. Jackie Robinson faced one of the toughest and most widespread barriers, the barrier of racism. He had to face racism whilst trying to achieve his life dream, which was to play on a Major League team. Robinson overcame his challenges through a set of nine values: citizenship, commitment, courage, determination, excellence, integrity, justice, persistence, and teamwork. These nine values have become something that anybody can live by and can use to overcome their own values. In my own life I...

...School doesn’t work the either ways. Teachers make us study and improve, while we implement it. Teachers grade us on our basic skills as well as the way we study and improve. But what if the teacher is not capable enough to do so? We should get a chance to grade them too. Almost all schools doesn’t encourage this kind of grading, or maybe none does. According to me this type of grading should be taken into account. Teachers should be graded on their teaching skill, behaviour in class and the interaction level with the students. What if the teacher is very strict and over rules the children or a single child? The child has to remain quiet and keep on facing it, as he doesn’t have any right to oppose him or make him realise, that what he/she is doing is wrong. The grading of the teachers would help the school to understand the children’s problem. If the teacher is not making the students study up to the mark, they have no options other than implementing by self. This kind of problems arise in all the schools but no schools try to solve it or make a better way. If all the schools would help the students this way, the students would love learning as well as will like to interact with the teachers. All the grades given to the teachers should be taken into account and should be checked by the higher authorities. If this happen then all schools would have students who would be more then happy as the teachers will try to adjust according to them. But as this happens, the students should...

Psych Research Paper

...I got my freshman year of college. I started my college career struggling a little bit and often wondered how I could raise my grades and improve my GPA until I was satisfied with the grades I would get. Coming to college I was finally on my own with no one to wake me up, make me do homework, or go to class. These all led to my GPA not being exactly where I wanted it to be along with a number of psychological factors that have all been introduced throughout lecture and the readings. The four different chapters I can relate this problem most too would have to be those on stress, personality, motivation and social psychology. Stress is one of the main leaders for college students and low GPA’s and I believe it had a lot to do with my original GPA from my freshman year. Living here on campus is extremely overwhelming at first for a freshman here at UMass Amherst. There are so many events that you can attend, RSOs that you can join, and other things in town and campus. It is also the first time moving away from home and that can lead to stress because no one is around to remind you about things that you may forget to do. The classes here at UMass were also extremely different from any classes I took at my high school. I was used to smaller classes of about 20-25 students that were all mostly my friends, now I was being thrown into a 400 person lecture with a bunch of strangers and just a professor throwing words at us. The amount of work in college is also way more than that of...

Leadership

...can possibly become. In this development what should be analyzed is what type of leader you are presently and what type of leader you want to someday become. By recognizing your strengths and weakness as a cadet you can improve upon them while you have time before you become an Air Force officer. It is essential that cadets strive to be successful leaders to continue the greatness of our Air Force. In order to better yourself as a leader you need a goal or ideal leader you want to model yourself after. My example of an ideal leader is Mohammed Ali, one of the greatest boxers ever to live. Mohammed Ali is a man of morals and the definition of a great leader. Early in his career in 1964, Ali converted his religion from Christianity to Islam; the same time changed his name from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali (“The Official1”). Two years later after his conversion and name change, he got drafted into the military service even after he failed the draft aptitude test. Ali refused to serve because of his Muslim beliefs. In 1967 he was found guilty of refusing to be inducted into the military services (“The Official1”). Although after a few years he was cleared of the charges, the damage was already done. The boxing association had already taken away his World Heavy Weight title and suspended him from boxing for three and a half years. Ali gave up some of his prime boxing years to fight for social equity. Ali is a political figure who fought for what he believed in even when...

Mrs. Jones vs. Mrs. Higgins Essay

...stories “Thank you M’am” by Lunstan Hughes and “All the Years of her Life” by Morley Callaghan portray a female character attempting to teach troubled youth moral values. While both Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Higgins deal with similar situations their motives, dealing methods and personality traits make them drastically different. Mrs. Jones chose to help the struggling child she encountered where as Mrs. Higgins had to help out of obligation to her son. Mrs. Higgins is a very fragile character while Mrs. Jones is an all around tuff character. Furthermore Mrs. Jones intentionally attempts to teach the troubles child a lesson between right and wrong where Mrs. Higgins dose not actively attempt to teach her son a lesson of any kind. Though both women attempt to teach ethical Principles to the troubled adolescents, their different personalities make them different. Both Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Higgins come in contact with a struggling teen; Mrs. Higgins was forced to help her son while Mrs. Jones chose to take on the challenge of teaching the boy a lesson. Mrs. Jones had no ties to Rodger but still chose to take him under her wing and teach him proper moral values even though she didn’t have too. When talking to Rodger Mrs. Jones confesses that she has “done things too” (Hughes, 168). Mrs. Jones being in the similar situation suggests that she sees a bit of her self in Rodger and she is trying to help him like no one did for her. Unlike...
