... Discuss AB Electrolux’s ability to develop global initiatives to reduce costs and increase the speed and precision of product development? AB Electrolux has developed their global initiatives to the point where they manufacture at low costs and they increase the speed and precision of product development. This is due to one key feature, location. Their manufacturing plants are located in places where the costs of goods sold is reduced and especially the production of appliances. This is because there are several regions and countries of the world that allow this. They have plants in Poland, Hungary, Mexico, China and Thailand. This has opened up a global market and to save money, those plants deliver to their neighboring countries. 2. How can AB Electrolux compete with local Chinese consumer manufacturers? This becomes a difficult task to accomplish because AB Electrolux has a hard time selling their products in China. This is due to the low priced competition that AB has to deal with in China. What AB should do is accommodate to China’s needs. Perhaps build another manufacturing plant in China that makes products with lesser quality perhaps but with low prices. Like that they can sell both low price and high price products. This might get results even though it might be pricey at first. 3. How can they maintain their premium brand with premium prices? This can conflict with my previous solution. But it is key that this technique stays unique to China because you...

...from customers, over time, to identify trends that will assist in refining its processes and offerings in order to better satisfy all of their customers. Additionally, the information the Kudler Fine Foods Frequent Shopper Program collects from individual customers will be used to develop targeted offers and high value incentives to participants in the program. Before the design and implementation of this system can begin, there are many potential legal, ethical, and informational security concerns related to the development of the program that must be considered by management. Also, the effect this program will have on the organization’s structure must be considered. As stated previously, there are many legal concerns related to the implementation of Kudler Fine Foods' frequent shopper program that must be considered by management. “Most American and European privacy law is based on a regime called Fair Information Practices (FIP)” (Laudon & Laudon, 2010 p.132). The core principles of the report are already inline with Kudler Fine Foods’ Privacy policy, as outlined on the terms and conditions page of the website. By continuing to follow this policy, Kudler Fine Foods will be able to continue to avoid lawsuits from individuals, or fines from government agencies. Ethics and perception are larger concerns for Kudler Fine Foods, in part because of their customer base. Higher end customers, with delicate sensibilities, will be more concerned about how their personal information...

...Individual Assignment 2 Instructions Attention deficit disorder (ADD) is a syndrome in which a person has difficulty focusing sustained attention on a task for a significant amount of time. In some cases this is accompanied by hyperactivity as well. It is currently being diagnosed at an all-time high. Between 1989 and 1996, youth visits for ADD increased 90%, from 1.9% of total physician visits to 3.6%. Now, a psychiatrist named Dr. Edward Hallowell is making a new distinction. He has described a similar set of characteristics in a large number of patients that he terms Attention Deficit Trait (ADT). It looks a lot like ADD in its day-to-day manifestation, but unlike ADD, ADT symptoms lessen when the sufferer goes on vacation or into a decreased sensory input setting for an extended time period (on the order of days or weeks). In such a long-term placid situation, the ADD sufferer’s problems continue unabated. Imagine that you have the general set of symptoms described above. But which of the two syndromes are causing your symptoms: the disorder (ADD) or the trait (ADT)? Approach your problem using scientific methodology—developing a question, a hypothesis, an experiment, and a control for the experiment. The initial question and the experiment that will be performed on you are provided. Your job is to state the hypothesis and to design the most important and most basic control for this experiment. Your Question: What’s my problem? Is it ADD or ADT? 1. Your...

Scores of government and private sector website were shut down. Estonian’s daily activities, such as pumping gas or making withdrawals from ATM machines were severely impacted. The architecture of the Internet allowed networks of bots, called botnets, to direct millions of packets to the servers of the Estonian targets, overloading and rendering them inaccessible to visitors. Digital traffic from servers ranging all the way to Peru, Vietnam and the United States overwhelmed Estonian websites, overloading their buffers with superfluous data. At the apex of this DDoS flooding, government websites that had been receiving 1,000 visits each day were suddenly inundated with 2,000 per second (Crouch, Pg 1). No overt financial motivations were discovered as the driver of these attacks, with the principal motivation being political...

...Week 2 Assignment from Text – Jamie Oswalt 16-33 a. The payroll procedures at the Galena plant do contain some shortcomings. The first one is that the supervisors in the production department are not approving actual hours. Another one found is that payroll clerk seems to be in charge of most duties, which clearly signifies a lack of segregation of duties. Finally, the employee from the personnel department should not be the one to have access to the payroll checks and hold them until time for delivery. In order to fix these shortcomings and improve the internal controls of Galena’s payroll procedures, there are certain changes that should be made. All employees should sign off on their own time cards and then give the time card to his or her immediate supervisor for approval. There should also be at least two payroll clerks with different duties. One should prepare the information that will need to be processed through the payroll data processing. Another should be the one to reconcile the time cards and the payroll register. The payroll clerk should not be authorized to void and reissue checks. This should be approved at the management level. The payroll checks should be given to the accounting department for safe keeping instead of the personnel department. b. All of the shortcomings mentioned above could lead to material errors and irregularities. The lack of the segregation of duties is a material weakness. The payroll clerk could easily submit false or fictitious...

...One the day we were presented with the New Destinations project, the Looney Tunes group quickly jumped the gun on the topic of promotional items. Immediately we started to brainstorm which items would be the best; we came up with carpenter pencils, tape measures, magnets, and drink cozies. Once we narrowed down our choice of promotional items, with the help of Cheri, we sided with magnets and measuring tapes. Quickly, we began to search on the Internet for websites that would give us the best deal on the two items. Found a few websites that we liked, and then started to see which one would few chosen ones would be the best. Two websites we decided not to use only because they wanted to charge more per item with adding a logo to it. Finally, Jeanese found the best website for both promotional item and we ran with it! Started the ordering process, kept up with how the items were doing, and kept Cheri in the loop. All in all, the process during this time went well and all looking forward to seeing the final products! To complete this project, we had to utilize several management skills. First, we had to collaborate. There were so many promotional products available to us, so we each had to research and then bring our results back to the group. Then we discussed and decided which products we wanted to order. Next, we had to navigate. We knew what we wanted to have accomplished and when, but we didn’t know all the small steps we needed to take to get there. As a team we made a list...

...In order to provide a thorough overview of how I plan to develop and implement the two week unit project, I will discuss each day of the eight day project. My discussions will include some of the questions I will ask to stimulate their curiosity and encourage positive choices. I will also describe some possible activities that may help guide them towards the goals that they wish to accomplish. However, as this project is completely student-driven, I will certainly need to adapt my questioning strategies and change the proposed activities in order to support the actual choices that the students make during the project. Therefore, the following overview provides only an estimated framework for the project. Timing is very flexible. If it take two days longer to complete, that will be fine. If the students finish sooner, we can always add to it. In the first lesson, the key objectives are for the students to understand what endangered animals are and for them to be motivated to want to help them. The students will watch a brief, funny video clip of the animated movie, Ice Age. The teacher will ask questions, such as, “What animals did you see?” It is anticipated that the students will reply that they saw dinosaurs. This will lead to further questions that guide the discussion towards the fact that we can no longer see dinosaurs walking around and the teacher asks for the term describing this situation, eliciting “extinct / extinction”. We can then discuss how these creatures disappeared...

...I remember you mentioned - when you met with MPW Engineers you talk about the Contract documents. On this point, in 2014, I did some research and compared the different type of contracts MPW and others were using at that time. I had looked at the NEC3, AIA, FIDIC, General Government model contracts, the Purchase order, etc. and I compared them to each other. Please the excel spreadsheet attachment. What I found was very interesting - here are some of the key findings: • There are 15 or more types of contracts (this also includes the Government model contracts and E1 PO) for small to large projects (Works, Services and Goods) being utilized. • There appear to be duplication of contract types –e.g. between the Government Model contracts, FIDIC and/or NEC3 for minor and major works. • MPW and previously the Architects/OPMP were the major issuer of Works Contracts, however many other departments regularly execute (supply and service) contracts but did not have access to the contract software applications. • Not all the Users were properly trained on how to use contracts and/or not aware of the software applications. • There were no clear records as to who can and/or does create and issues contracts and/or how many contracts were out in any given year. • There are annual fees for the each contract software - NEC3, AIA and FIDIC licenses – and these are being paid for by MPW, and these software applications are not available to others Ministries. Many of the NEC3 could...

...Hi all. Thanks for the info. Just to again pass on the history of these agreements… When the QEP contracts were batch loaded into the system, there was a file cabinet that was missed and some contracts were not part of the upload. The contracts were all dated between 1997 and 2008. The majority of the contracts have had no activity against them and did not even have an SAP vendor number number issued, even though there is evergreen clause in them. (I think there was spend on like 10 of the 250 contracts we originally looked at.) Some vendor names have changed since the contracts were issued. All contracts were entered into the system with a status of “closed” and given a termination date of 12/31/13. This termination date was determined by our legal group and by records retention. When we were looking to have theses entered by a mass upload, Usman and I took a pretty hard look at which of the fields would be required and which would not provide useful data. The data that was sent over is a result of those decisions. Some of the data you are looking for will be easier to gather than others… Data that is Easy/Possible to provide • Supplier Name (missing for a few contracts)-I did not see the final sheet that went over to you. According to the attached, it looks like there are two, BHI and Northwinds that you are missing on there? Please confirm these are the only ones? I’ll make sure they are on the sheet when the new info is sent. • Contracting Entity*** Data that...

...My test results labeled me as ENFJ and after reviewing the Humanetrics results and the information provided I do find this to be fairly accurate although not a conclusive result to my personality. The E stands for extraverted, which I find to be true only under certain circumstances. The N stands for Intuitive, which is also accurate when it comes to personal issues but not work related ones. The F stands for feeling and that is that I would base my decisions mostly on emotional decisions, this is fairly inaccurate since I feel like reasoning and logical decisions are a must. The last letter J stands for judging which I believe represents a person’s organizational habits. The application of J is vice versa to the N as it is applicable to my work but not my personal life. One of the main aspects of an ENFJ is their ability to communicate, specifically interpersonally. As a manager of a gas stations I always chose to create a relationship with the employees, as well as the customers, that provided comfort in the work place. I always search for solutions to which we can all agree so that issues are kept to a minimum so in this aspect I do feel that ENFJ is accurate. However, it is mentioned that ENFJ’s have trouble working on projects that may not fit their values. Now, I do find values to be important but I am a firm believer in the saying “business is business.” It does not matter whether it goes against my values, if I work for a company and the project at hand involves something...

...Resource: Visualizing Psychology Read questions 1, 2, & 4 located in Critical and Creative Thinking Questions in Ch. 4 of Visualizing Psychology. Answer each question in at least 50 words. 1. Sensation and perception are closely linked. What is the central distinction between the two? The central distinction between the two are: Sensation is the way we receive information through our five senses (sight, smell, touch, hearing, taste) and relays that information to the brain through our sensory receptors, neurons then carry this information to the brain. Perception is how we interpret that information and translate it from our sensory receptors to our real world environment. 2. If we sensed and attended equally to each stimulus in the world, the amount of information would be overwhelming. What sensory and perceptual processes help us lessen the din? We have sensory receptors that are specialized for sensory reduction. This is the process where our sensory receptors are filtered and analyzed before being sent to the various parts of the brain. Once the information travels to the brain there is a coding process that differentiates between the various stimuli and perceives this information before sending that information through to various parts of the brain. This process helps lighten the load on the brain from having overwhelming information being sent to the brain all at once. 4. What senses would likely be impaired if a person were somehow missing all of the...
