...Individual News Article Daniella Baca ECO/372 October 21, 2013 Dr. Darryl Baker Individual News Article A factor that consumers must consider today is the impact that interest rates have on the United States economy. Economists believed that the housing market would begin to heal, auto sales would hit a record high, and the government would begin running a surplus. However, the only correct prediction was the rise in auto sales. Auto sales rose tremendously, and was a good sign of the economy slowly recovering. Even though the government has full control of the economy their actions greatly affect the economy. In this paper I will analyze the effect that interest rates have on the economy and how aggregated supply and demand is affected. The U.S. economy remains weak and the government has considered tapering. Tapering would mean that the government would have to reduce its asset purchase program. This process would have to be slow and gradual so that the markets will not be affected. Economists believe that tapering would result in an increase in interest rates and could have bad effects on the economy. The first part of the economy to be affected would be mortgage rates. The housing market is critical to a thriving economy and higher interest rates would slow it down drastically. For this reason tapering would be risky to the economy. Higher interest rates will hurt everyone except the investors who rely on interest income. Higher interest rates leave...

...Lauren Delgado: I chose the goal-setting theory because this employee needs to maintain focus and would benefit from the foundations of the goal-setting theory in that setting her own goals may improve the lack of focus that she experiences at this time. This and regular check-ins could assist in maintaining this focus. Pauline Hernandez: I chose a combination of the self-efficacy theory and goal-setting theory because this employee is already self-motivated. She needs to be instilled with the confidence that would come from me setting goals that are higher than her peers because she has the capability to perform at that level. This is the essence of the self-efficacy theory and the goal-setting theory working in unison. I am showing the confidence in her, and in turn, she will gain confidence in herself through the completion of goals and the out-performance of other employees. Kimberly Martinez: I chose the goal-setting theory for this employee because she needs to motivate herself in order to perform. She already has the confidence that she can perform the job at a high level. This, coupled with a serious conversation as to the reason why she is apathetic to her current work situation, will reveal additional motivating factors that can be used to encourage through the goal-setting theory. Setting goals for herself that are challenging will help to motivate her to perform at her highest level, also attaching those goals to something tangible that she desires...

The entire story addresses Willy’s inability to change or accept responsibility for the mistakes he made. He is unable to acknowledge that he is an average man in America living an average life. Even with the love and support from friends and loved ones, he still feels an immense amount of regret about decisions he made in the past and spends a large amount of time retreating into the past and reliving moments where he felt successful. The three themes within the play are denial, contradiction, and the desire to live the “American Dream” by being liked and successful. Denial is portrayed in many of the characters. ...Throughout my involvement in a variety of activities, I have influenced and motivated people to achieve success, through leading groups, as well as humbly leading through actions. I have been told by many of my colleagues that I motivate and inspire them to stay focus on tasks and accomplish their goals. As co-organizer of my school’s first ever TEDx event, I have demonstrated confidence in taking action and making decisions. For instance, while my supervisor often felt doubtful towards some of the things we needed for the event, I remained optimistic that I could obtain the necessary materials. In order to create a big impact on the presentation of our event, I desired the iconic round red rug and the prominent 3D TEDx logo stage letters. Since the organization team only consisted of four seventeen year olds, our budget was low so my supervisor thought it was impossible to properly design the stage. Nevertheless, I was persistent and took initiative by communicating with other organizers and various fabrication companies from Vancouver. I went onto LinkedIn, a business-oriented social media service, and contacted three TEDx organizers. All of them suggested the same 3D foam company which gave me a quote of $2000 - way over my budget for the letters. Nevertheless, I was optimistic that I would be able to seek the help of professionals for guidance - I was right. After speaking with a student organizer from another high school’s TEDx event, I found a "makerspace" to fabricate...
