...Running head: THE CONCEPT OF ADAPTATION 1 Sensory Adaptation Experiment Aspects of Psychology American InterContinental University November 20, 2013 THE CONCEPT OF ADAPTATION 2 Process and Results of Each Experiment Experiment 1 with Sandpaper- After rubbing my index finger on the very coarse sandpaper a few times, I would rate the coarseness on a scale of 7 (very coarse). This experiment gave me a tingling feeling in my finger. After a minute or so from resting my index finger, I ran the same index finger on the sandpaper and found that it wasn’t as coarse as the first time. I would rate its coarseness at a 3 which led my finger to not react to the paper as much as the first time. So I feel that my senses adapted to the coarseness of the sandpaper. Experiment 2 with Sugar Water and Fresh Water- I took one cup and put two teaspoons of sugar in with fresh water and stirred it. In the second cup I only put fresh water in it. I then took the cup with sugar water in it and took a sip and swished it around in my mouth. I noticed that I could feel my taste buds were stimulating but after a few seconds they became less stimulated. When I had tasted the fresh water and swished it around, I noticed that I tasted a hint of salt. It surprised me because I wasn’t expecting to taste salt beings...

...TO: Michelle Dietrich FROM: XXXX XXXXXX DATE: November 29, 2015 SUBJECT: Target Market Dear Ms. Dietrich, Given the current state of the economy, having a well-defined target market is more important than ever (Porta, 2010). As much as we would like to we cannot afford target everyone. Target marketing will allow us to direct our marketing dollars and create a brand message for our specific market that is more likely to buy from us than other markets. By doing this it will create a more inexpensive, well-organized, and effective way to reach our potential customers and generate business. Another benefit of having a clearly defined target audience is that it would be easier for us how to determine where and how to market our company. Defining our target market will be the most difficult part. Once we realize whom we plan on targeting, it will be easier to determine which media use to reach them and what marketing messages will resonate with them. We can save money and get a better return on investment by when we define our target market. We will save money by sending direct mail to those who fit our criteria instead of send them to everyone in the Zip code. Demographic Characteristics Our target market should include people who share similar demographic characteristics as our current customers. Demographics include items such as age, gender, income level and amount of education (Joseph, n.d.). For example, demographic information may show you that a likely...

...Reduction of Juvenile Delinquency in the United States Terry Gatlin AIU Online Abstract In the United States, juveniles involved with the law are treated differently from adults. However, this has not always been the case. In the earlier times, children were thrown into jails with adults. Long prison terms and corporal punishment were common. Some children were even sentenced to death for their crimes. Juvenile Delinquency in America In the United States today Juvenile Delinquency is getting way out of hand, when it comes to harsh crimes being committed by our youth. Today the majority of the states have set an age limit in which determines whether the person who is accused of a serious/non serious crime is treated as an adult or a juvenile. However, most states in the U.S. consider those who are under the age of 18 as juveniles. But some states have set their limits to 16 or 17years of age. Consequently, most of the states if a juvenile is charged with a serious crime, such as murder etc. that child can be sent to a criminal court and could be tried as an adult. The public appears much more aware of juvenile crime today than in the past; this is due in part to more thorough reporting techniques and greater emphasis on publicizing delinquent acts in the media. Official U.S. crime reports in the 1980s showed that about one-fifth of all persons arrested for crimes are under 18 years of age. In the 1970s, juvenile...

For the vast majority of you it will be a compulsory unit of study as it is part of the Business Core in all undergraduate Bachelor of Business degrees. The major focus of this unit is on how computer- based information systems can support decision making in organizations and businesses. Those decisions often need to be made by professionals who come from discipline areas you are studying such as accounting, management, information systems or marketing. One of the most important elements of an information system is people, so all of us need to know what role we can play and what role information and communication technologies (ICT) can play in supporting decisions. This unit will look at the theoretical side of information systems as well as personal productivity tools such as spread sheets and databases. In addition we will look at global trends in information systems and in particular the emerging use of Cloud Computing and Social Networking, which is sometimes called Web 2.0. The unit of study requires the textbook Introduction to Information Systems by Rainer, Prince and Cegielski 5th Edition. The textbook is used for the theory and some of the practical work in tutorials. All reading for this subject during the semester is assigned from this textbook. Feedback from previous...

...The case for ERP systems Dilip Wagle TCL INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY/SYSTEMS Too oƒten it’s made on faith, not good judgment Will it cut costs? Common pitfalls in implementation E NTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING (ERP) can be a blessing or a curse. Many companies find ERP systems help them make better-informed decisions. Others discover too late that their purchase has been based more on faith than good judgment, and run up tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars in extra costs and schedule delays. How, then, can senior managers ensure that their companies build a sound business case for deploying ERP systems? And what can they do to guarantee that the promised benefits are not eclipsed by the costs of integration, process redesign, and training? One answer is to take a cost-based approach to the business case. Another is to be aware of common pitfalls. Is ERP for us? ERP systems (made by SAP, Baan, and PeopleSoƒt, among others) have received much attention for their potential to help companies make more eƒfective decisions. The plaudits are oƒten deserved. ERP can reduce the financial reporting, purchasing, and support expenses of management information systems (MIS), and lead to more timely analysis and reporting of sales, customer, and cost data. One large pharmaceutical company has used it to consolidate manufacturing support operations such as purchasing and vendor management; as a result, it employs fewer staƒf and has generated a return of more than 20 percent...
