Influences in the Teaching Environment There are a lot of different types of conditions and behavior issues that can impact a positive or negative effect in the classroom. These behaviors and/or conditions can have a great effect on the process of learning, if the classroom is not managed properly. This paper is going to cover ten of the many negative classroom conditions or behaviors. It is important to know these conditions and behaviors to recognize and correct the problems to organize and manage the classroom. The first thing that will be discussed is overcrowding of the schools. With communities constantly being built and people moving into these small towns the schools but the schools aren’t getting bigger or more teachers it is causing schools to become overcrowded. “The school's student: teacher ratio of 16:1 is higher than the GA state average of 15:1.” (2011, GA Dept. of Educ). This causes distractions to children because when there is that many students in the classroom they tend to try to play and cut up while the teacher is trying to get their things together for the next lesson. To help manage the classroom with this problem you could use letting the students that talk have a job to do but tell them that it is only if they can do it quietly and calmly then swap the jobs out with the classmates throughout the school year. This could help to manage the class. Between doing this and setting the ground rules with the entire class in the first week of school you can still have a good class. School funding is also another issue especially with the smaller town schools. When the funding is being cut more and more every year the schools cannot keep up with the technology and can’t hire more teachers to make smaller classes, which causes the overcrowding classes. Not being able to have the

...Chapter 3 Influences in the Business Environment Personal use only Businesses operate in a dynamic, often turbulent, environment. The business environment refers to anything that affects the operation of a business. Farmers have understood the impact of the environment for centuries. The farmer has no control over aspects of the environment The business such as drought. However, the farmer can prepare for possible adversity in the environment and environment refers to quickly adapt to those changes. Effective managers are constantly monitoring the business environment to pick up any change that may impact on their business. If they pick up a change quickly and respond before their competitors, it may lead to a significant advantage to their business. This is what happened when Woolworths’ managers picked up the trend to the healthy life style before the managers of Coles. The Woolworths’ managers immediately responded by developing a focus on fresh produce, delicatessens, bakeries and dairy. Customers responded by leaving Coles and shopping at Woolworths. Now that Wesfarmers Limited has purchased Coles its managers are quickly implementing strategies to regain their competitive advantage. anything that affects the operation of the business 55 HomeThink Draw the Woolworths’ logo. Group Influence

...Group influence PSY/400 March 11, 2013 Group influence Throughout history, social groups and primary groups represents individuals who associates a connection with comparable others. Giving a presence of homophily within a group of people who share similarities like age, culture, social status, and even religious beliefs. However, a group never begins with three or four different individuals who have dissimilar views or perspectives. Groups begins with one, two, or three individuals who have different beliefs, views, and opinions. These individuals or individual looks for others that share similarities, so that he or she could join “the cause.” These individuals or individual persuade others to change his or her views to the communicator’s beliefs or views, so he or she could also join the cause. The point of the matter is that groups can influence or persuade others to believe in what the group believes in (Myers, 2010). Such beliefs could cause a positive or negative impact in which its outcome depends on the type of message the group communicates. However, positive groups are still within today’s society that influences others to live life with morals and good values. A group that persuades teens and young adults to join the meetings that changes bad behavior to good behavior, abstinence, and how to live a life without drugs and violence. The group of teens and young adults who calls him or herself “Oasis de Vida Eterna” (Oasis of Eternal Life). The youth group...

...Social Influence * Kelman’s varieties * Conformity * Persuasion * Effects on children * Examples of social influence * Social influence in relation to woman and men * Social influence in relation to sports Social influence is best described as when one’s behaviors or views towards something are changed by another person, group or other form of communication such as through TV or reading. Stanly Milgram conducted experiments in which people were required to give electric shocks to people if they gave the wrong answer to a series of questions. Participants continued to give electric shocks for bad answers even when the answerer was near death as long as an authority figure was present. Of course, no real electric shocks were given, and those supposedly receiving the electric shocks were actors. This was social influence that persuaded the people to continue giving shocks and I will give more examples of such experiments and studies. Children are influenced more and more by society these days. During soccer, young children roll around on the ground as if they have been shot by a sniper rifle to influence the referee to show a red card. If they do not act this way they will be taken off the field so they are influenced to do the wrong thing. Women are constantly influenced by society to have better shoes to fit in to society, or to have a new dress for each party they attend. This is peer pressure from magazines with such people as Kim Kardashian...

Forms of visual entertainment media are; radio, television, CD’s and DVD’s to name a few. When one speak of Media and the influence it has made on American society as far as culture and values, I can honestly see the reflection from what is viewed and or listened to in our day to day lives. In the times of old there were some shows that allowed a glimpse as to what we are living in now as far as the change of times. Shows like the Jeffersons and Different Strokes allowed Americans to see the change that was coming within our families, communities and the world as a whole. The Shape of Americans Culture and Values. As times have changed so has our ability to gain instant access whether it is the local news, a nationally syndicated radio talk show or the ability to attend online university and gain a degree as a working adult. America has changed based on the media; however it is up to each individual to determine the shape that is being made. We have come along way from VCR’S and huge televisions that weigh a few hundred pounds. Being that the majority of the world is always on the go, these are some awesome attributes of American culture and the shape it is taking; however the negative aspect for me is the fact that...

This action can either be seen as a good or bad action as well as how it makes the person feel afterwards. Many individuals who live around here feel a need to have someone to talk to as well as keep him or her out of trouble, and to give advice. A building called Comp care, is a building of unique and specialized individuals who take time out, just to sit down and talk to some of the people around here, either just because or they just need to get something off his or her chest. When a person first goes into the building, what is first noticed is a friendly environment, music playing in the background, watching television, socializing, or even reading a good magazine, as a person waits to speak to a counselor. A couple of older women are sitting behind the desk, doing paperwork, taking calls, letting the counselor know that someone is there to see him or her, signing the person in, etc. As a person is escorted to the office for the visit, several other offices of other counselors or doctors happen to be on the premises. Social Influence Paper

...Influence is an element that is evidently present in the current world and has been present since the beginning of time. Influence can be seen in every aspect of daily life, such as in economic, social, and political behaviours. Social influence is believed to take up a key position in diffusion of information and formation of opinions. Prior studies (Grabisch, 2010 & Rusinowshar, 2011) carried out studies to learn how individuals change their answers and opinions according to the situation or based on another individuals answer. The results showed that individuals collect opinions of others before giving the final answer. An answer that is originally a no, could turn into a yes (I1). There has been sufficient studies on social influence...

Influence of Visual Media

...Influence of Visual Media Radio was the popular media until television became the leader in mass media. Television reached out to people in a visual and auditory sense. The influence of this visual entertainment coupled with major motion pictures shaped and influenced American culture in ways that are negative as well as positive. The positive aspects range from instantaneous world news coverage such as weather events to political wars. Sporting events or learning how to prepare a favorite meal is available through a television in a person’s home. Major motion pictures “the movies” brought big screen entertainment to people where they were able to escape reality of their own lives and get lost in the plot of a story shown on the big screen. Some of the television shows and the motion pictures have mirrored real life activities and at other times are fictitious or a combination of both. There is ample proof in society that media is responsible for generating negative feelings among its viewers. Children are especially vulnerable to the negative influence of violence or viewing alcohol use, and abuse in films. When people frequently view death, sex, rape, suicide, and murder, it is a negative influence, because there are images etched in their subconscious that can never be unviewed. The television shows cost money to produce and air time has to be bought to show the program on television. Commercials are sold in order to pay for the cost of the shows. The companies...

Media Influences on Sport

...Media Influence On Sport When communication is spread not just between two individuals but rather between tens of millions of people it is known as mass media. Mass media is known as the central nervous system of society. "Mass media has many different purposes, such as providing information, entertaining, persuading and also by carrying a vague general function of culture to millions of people."(Frederick 18). In order for mass media to exist, there must be an audience. Today's society is very selective; each receiver reacts differently through his or her own experience and orientation according to mass media. Therefore, mass media exists in many different forms such as magazines, television, newspapers, internet, motion pictures, and even plays. Some examples of these forms of mass media are cosmopolitan magazine for young modern women and TSN television network for sports fans. With such extreme varieties of mass media existing in today's societies there are three major constraints that seem to have an impressionable impact. These constraints can keep mass media very restricted. The major constraint of mass media is competition. Each form of mass media wants to be the one to target the audience, so therefore competition between mass media is very strong, because capturing the inside of the sports world is critical. Apart from the competition among the various forms of media there is also competition among each form of the media example Fox network competes...

Social Influences on Behavior

...Social Influences on Behavior Donnie Toms PSY 200 Feb 24 2013 Dr. Hawkins Social Influences on Behavior Introduction Everybody has their normal day to day life, whether that is going to work, going to school, staying at home, or doing whatever that day. Most of us have some type of social interaction on a daily basis and depending on what your day consist of dictates the type of social influences around us. We all have our own thoughts, feelings and actions, but when we are around other people those same thoughts, feelings and actions could be different. When you are at work the atmosphere is professional and work related, but if you are out with friends having some fun the atmosphere is more party like. The change in social influences dictates our behavior and what we deem to be appropriate. Social influence is defined as “the process wherein one person's attitudes, beliefs, or behaviors are changed as a result of interaction with another individual or with a group” (Stavrositu 2011). Social Behaviors There are various types of social behaviors that people exhibit depending on the influences around us. These influences can be conformity, the act of matching our attitude, beliefs and behaviors with a group of people. Media Influence in Society

...Canyon University February 12, 2012 Professor Lisa Denny Media Influence in Society Media plays an important role in our every day lives. It is always there to confuse, manipulate, and to cloud our judgement. Nine out of ten of the population have checked weather, traffic, social sites and the news as their first act of the day. It is a powerful instrument that we have all become so dependent upon. To us it is as normal as breathing. It can be used for positive as well as negative. I feel the negative effects are stronger because of the "consistency" used to pound this negativity into society's mind. It isn't necessary to use a hot babe in skimpy attire to sell a hamburger, but I've seen it done and in commercials for "family" restaurants. Sex is used to sell anything and everything and in that respect, it sends a negative message all around. Gone are the days when it was a shock to see an undergarment in a commercial. Now it's nothing to see the undergarments attached to live models. How many people do you think are actually looking at the undergarments instead of the body parts ( Kathy D 2007)? . On the flip side...there are good influences via the media. When a catastrophe strikes such as hurricane Katrina, people are seen reaching out to help others. The tv show "Extreme Home Makeover" is a great example of how strangers pull to together to help those less fortunate. Influences such as these can provoke the thought for people to help more in their...

Influence of Visual Media

...Influence of Visual Media Kimberly Malave Hum/176 Melissa Caldwell 11/8/14 • In what ways have various forms of visual entertainment media shaped American Culture and its values? Media has changed dramatically over the last century. And visual entertainment media has shaped American culture and values in many ways as well. In today’s society there are so many different kinds of entertainment media that it has caused us to forget about the more important values in life. For example, today we all rely on the internet for so many things from shopping, to paying bills, to social media and news updates. We no longer have to wait for our information to be released through the newspaper, or books. Game systems, internet, films, cell phones and more have taken away from our values of taking the time to actually enjoy a drama or comedy through reading, even looking for information. Back in the day children didn’t have TV’s, so they would spend a lot of their time outside playing and being active. In today’s younger generation, the children rather be in the house and play video games or watch shows on TV than go outside and play with friends. The social influences of visual entertainment media have been more negative than positive. For example, YouTube has millions of videos up but most of them are either something negative or something of no benefit. Most of those videos are either about...

Social Influences on Behaviour

...Abstract Extreme cases of social roles or influences usually need treatment. Such as in the case of social influences and altruism were in the extremes it is necessary to correct behaviors that occur. However, choice is the clear decision maker in determining actions, whether good or bad, correct or incorrect, education needs to be available for people to make the right decision. Social Influences on Behavior Paper By examining the basic concepts and of human interaction in social situations and the way behavior changes by examining altruism and social influence we can get a better understanding of these concepts through a psychological perspective. What happens in these situations and if the effects of the situations require treatment or if the behaviors require correcting. Altruism is “behaving in a way that helps another person with no apparent gain, or with potential cost, to oneself.” (Kowalski, R., & Westen, D., 2009) There are several theories within altruism, there is ethical hedonism, “…asserts that all behavior, no matter how apparently altruistic, is and should be designed to increase one’s own pleasure or reduce one’s own pain.” (Kowalski, R., & Westen, D., 2009) This theory offers that giving money, food, etc. is only done by an individual to compensate for their own sorrow and making themselves feel better. Another theory is reciprocal altruism, “…natural selection favors animals that behave altruistically if the likely benefit to each individual over...
