Qualitative data is information that cannot be measured with numbers as it is information about qualities. Information such as the hardness of the rock, how gracefully one walks and the color of one’s eyes are examples of qualitative data. Quantitative data is information that can be written down and measured using numbers. Examples of quantitative data are one’s weight, shirt size, and length of one’s hair. Quantitative data was collected in an attempt to find the core reason communication is an issue for First Service Residential, a small property management company. Quantitative research relies upon probability sampling in order to be able to generalize results to the wider population. Sample selection is based on participation to the relevance of the questions being asked. Quantitative data should be reliable and produce the same response and allow for replication.
