A. You are a person, a human being. You have rights to life and to liberty. You are not owned, and you are not an object to be bought and sold. Most would think that these things are god given; that these are things to which we are entitled. But, to this day even lonely Idaho isn’t free of human trafficking.

B. My goal is to help you to understand the problem that is human trafficking.

C. Today, I will tell you why it is such a problematic issue, what the causes of it are, and things we can contribute to eradicate this problem.

II. Body
A. First, I will explain what human trafficking is, and why it is such a large issue.

1. Human trafficking is the process of selling and buying people for either short bursts or great lengths of time. It …show more content…
One of the largest issues is that most of the time human trafficking is categorized as a sex or violent crime, and it isn’t identified for what it actually is. There for most people aren’t aware of it.

3. Also, as fate has it, a large quantity of victims stays unfound. Most men who are abducted are used for manual labor, and are worked to death. On the other hand, when woman and children are seized they are usually used for sexual slavery. They either develop STDs and die through them or are killed because they developed an STD or sickness. Frequently, they commit suicide so they don’t have to suffer through the starvation and the sexual and non-sexual abuse. This makes it harder to identify the amount captured for the purpose of human trafficking.

4. Another reason it’s a problem is due to the fact that this is worldwide. There is no escaping or avoiding this issue. It has a presence in every state and every country. Gangs are another cause of human trafficking. People try to join the gangs for safety, and get mixed into the system.

4. Another thing Caitlin Huber states is that oppression can cause human trafficking. Mainly because people will do most anything to get out of it whether that means incorporating their families or selling themselves unknowingly.

5. Yet another cause is civil unrest, but it’s more of contributes to the other causes. It simply makes it easier for the trafficking to happen. Borders don’t get watched as closely, and neither does human trafficking get monitored as closely.

6. Francesca Petriliggieri, a specialist in public policy at Cáritas Española in Madrid, Spain, says that a final major cause is abuse. It causes spouses or children to flee increasing their chances of being picked up off the streets.
