I write to you today with the utmost urgency and the implied behest of one who cannot yet read, write, or count. I write to you for the one whose life has not really started. I write to you for six month old Benjamin Carson Thomas who has been diagnosed with a severe spinal hematoma. As you know, a spinal hematoma causes sudden pain and tenderness, followed by weakness and loss of sensation below the affected area of the spinal cord. These effects may progress to complete paralysis in minutes or hours, with the possibility spontaneous recovery. However, on occasion, the blood can flow upward into the brain, causing even more severe problems; coma and death are possible if the hematoma near the top of the spinal cord interferes with the ability
