Psychological theories are the foundation of psychology they give us an understanding of the many aspects within this science. Theories help to explain the connection between the mind and body. Theories teach psychologists and therapists how to help others with mental illnesses.
Behaviorism
Behaviorism is mental activities, such as emotions that may motivate an individual to act in a certain way. An example, such as when an individual is in pain, it is likely that he or she you will scream, cry, or yell in pain. Behaviorism became very popular and is just one of the many schools of thought within psychology developed to explore and explain observable behavior. Behaviorism as described by its founders is the subject matter of human psychology and the behavior of animals and humans.
Behaviorism argued that consciousness is neither definite nor a useable concept and that only the observable behavior of the animal or human being studied was the basis of psychology. The most influential people in behaviorism are considered to be: Watson, Skinner, and Pavlov. These scientists pioneered the study of behavior with experiments, and expanded upon the knowledge already existing from previous notable scientists. However, the problem with this school of thought is that it suggests that only observable behaviors should be studied, since internal states such as cognitions, emotions and moods are too subjective (Goodwin, 2005).
Classical conditioning is a technique used in behavioral training in which a naturally occurring stimulus is paired with a response. Next, a previously neutral stimulus is paired with the naturally occurring stimulus. Eventually, the previously neutral stimulus comes to evoke the response without the presence of the naturally

...Directions for Annotated Bibliography You will provide an annotated bibliography of 25 references that you plan to use for your research paper. This must be in APA format, with a cover page and references that each includes a summary, analysis and reflection. This assignment is due by 12 midnight (EST) on the Sunday of Week 3. Why do an annotated bibliography? The Writing Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill provides an excellent response: A good annotated bibliography: • encourages you to think critically about the content of the works you are using, their place within a field of study, and their relation to your own research and ideas. • proves you have read and understand your sources. • establishes your work as a valid source and you as a competent researcher. An annotated bibliography is a list of sources and includes APA formatted references to the articles, books and resources (all which should have been found through the Liberty University Online Library) which one has compiled for a research assignment. Following each reference is a brief description and an evaluation of the source. The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to benefit the researcher and provide the content, relevance and quality of the sources. Do NOT simply cut and past the abstract as the annotation, as they are not the same. Abstracts are summaries of a source, whereas annotations also include a short summary. Abstracts include a critical...

The purpose of writing a short prospectus is to help you get a sense of your project and hopefully gain a starting point for your work. How to proceed? Start by reading and taking notes on 2-4 reference articles, review articles, or key research articles. You will most likely be using a search engine or online database. This initial phase is meant to familiarize yourself with America in the 1920s. As you read more and more, you will hopefully find a particular subject or topic that you think is worth writing about. Again, this is not only a research paper, but it is a synthesis work in which you must take elements from the time period and connect them to the novel. Key Questions for Statement of Thesis * What two motifs will you concentrate on? * How does these motifs connect with an element from the 1920s? * What articles and research best represent this connection? * What examples from the novel best represent this connection? Literature Review and Annotated Bibliography Provide a summary and critique of the sources you researched. Where did you find them? Who wrote them? Who published them? It is important at this point to realize you want to eliminate any unreliable or questionable sources. Once you have sifted through enough source material, now you will begin to write your prospectus. Below is a sample. For my...

During 10-15 minutes of playing a 6-minute interval was coded and the total frequency of communication was recorded. This process was repeated again after the children without disability were taught how to use PECS. Journal of College Student Development, 41(4), 405-414. A diverse group of female students at a university was interviewed in examining multiple dimensions of identity to fill a gap in studying development which has only considered a single dimension of identity. Each factual dimension surrounds the core as intersecting rings, asserting the importance of considering multiple dimensions mutually and holistically. The contextual influences are significant to continually relocate the dots on the rings, which...
