Innovation is defined as introducing something that is new. Innovation happens when one product adds a new version of the product that they are already offering. However the new product will offer new techniques that was not added on the previous version. This term means different things to different people.
The product I will be using is Tom-Tom (GPS) this produce is technology and could only come from intrapreneurship. Founded in 1991, Tom-Tom(GPS) (AEX:TOM2) is the world’s leading provider of in-car location and navigation products and services focused on providing all drivers with the world’s best navigation experience. Tom-Tom (GPS) first developed software products for mobile devices like bar code readers ( e How, 2012). By 1998, the company had become a market leader in software for the hand-held Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) and in 2002 launched its first navigation product for PDAs -- the Tom-Tom Navigator.
Three years after its inception, Tom-Tom (GPS) launched its first stand-alone personal navigation device (PND), which used what the company calls its Nav Core software platform. While earlier Tom-Tom GPS devices were smaller and would only route from a stationary vehicle, the newer models, like the XXL 540 S, include a five-inch, color touch screen, lane guidance, Easy Port mount, user-updated maps and text-to-speech navigation.
Tom-Tom has expanded its GPS devices from car navigation to bike and mobile navigation, with prices ranging from around $300 for automobile products to $50 for a smart phone application. These prices were current as of October 2010 ( e How, 2012).

...Pauling who said “the best way to have a good idea is to have lots of ideas”. Generating ‘outside the box’ ideas is often not the problem in an ideation workshop with 10 people or more. No. It is the moment when you go from the divergence into the convergence phase, which is critical for your innovation success. Imagine you have a wall of 500+ ideas in front of you: and now what? How do you pick the right idea? That’s the question. In my innovation practice I have experimented a lot the last 10 years to deal with this essential question. It’s not an easy one to answer. Unfortunately I have not found the ‘holy grail’. But the great advantage of continuous experimenting in converging, selecting and improving ideas is that you learn a lot. And I like to share five of my important learnings on how to pick the right idea. 1. Take you time. One of the most frequent mistakes is spending a lot of timing generating ideas, leaving hardly any time in the ideation workshop to converge, select and improve them. You should spent at least 2/3 of your process on picking the right idea and 1/3 on getting a lot of ideas, instead of the other way around.
