Innovation Essay

An innovation is a product or concept that is brand new or something that is revived with improved features or alterations. People who are innovators are people who are the trendsetters and introduce new products to the community or world. These people are usually celebrities or people who we look up too. Innovations are sometimes accepted and become huge successes and live on or fall down and become a fad. Every now and then we get a hot new brand with a concept and it comes through and usually fades out unless you stay innovated and up to date with the demand of what people want. I will be discussing about the TOMS brand. TOMS is a shoe brand that offers to donate a pair of shoes to someone in need if you purchase a pair of their shoes, “one for one.” TOMS shoes became extremely popular when celebrities started wearing these simple shoes with the big logo on the back. The shoe company became popular with young teens and adults. The “one for one” concept made the company their big selling point. When someone purchased a pair of their shoes they felt good about themselves because they were helping out someone in need. The brand comes out with new designs to stay innovated like: limited edition colors, high tops, and even wedges for woman. But you can only do so much with shoes. For a brand like TOMS they needed something new and innovated for their brand to still be in the spotlight. They introduced a new line of eyewear with the same “one for one” concept. For every pair of eyewear they sell they will provide assistance in eyewear for someone in need. The new line of eyewear was something that the TOMS brand needed to boost for their name. They are expanding their name in more than one place of department stores, like children shoes and now eyewear. This will put their name out there and get more exposure is a big improvement. Inovation

...Innovation Jan 30, 2009 Categories: Brands, Business & Entrepreneurs, Others In the history of my working life, innovation has been the one priority foremost in my mind to ensure that we are always competitive. I was thrilled when Fast Company voted AirAsia as one of the top 50 innovative companies in the world. It was a thrill to be in the same ranks as Apple, Google, Nike and BMW. Fostering a culture of innovation within the organisation is a challenge and over the next few years, I will be seeking to study even more deeply the factors inherent in how one creates an environment that can foster innovation. Some of it is cultural; some of it is due to the environment we live in. In Asia, society is still largely hierarchical and conformist. Yes, it is changing thanks to the digital era but we are not there yet where people speak up freely and boldly without on a regular basis. So, at AirAsia, we’ve sought to level the playing field. We are a company based on meritocracy. We value creativity and seek it from whatever the source. To encourage free-flowing exchanges of ideas, we did away with titles on our business cards, we dress down, our offices are open-plan based for effective communication, and we have a powerful Intranet which allows for forums and discussion. We constantly challenge ourselves to find better ways of running not just our businesses, but also our own lives and helping society. I want to build a room dedicated to innovation, a room where the sparks...

Inovation and Global Development

...Science, Technology, Innovation In an era where human progress is soaring at a dizzying rate, society must adapt its technology to solve current world issues. In a world where the Internet, cell phones and notebook computers are becoming a necessity for everyday living, we often forget about those who still suffer attempting to meet their basic needs, including clean water, food and health care. It is time for the developed world to use their technology to help those who can not help themselves. By using these technologies there will be advances in medical services, a new economy based on the Internet, emerging information technologies and new methods for the farming and industrial sectors. More importantly, these technologies will provide the education and knowledge for these people to become prosperous nations that can fend for themselves and provide for their people. Transfers of technology from the developed world to the developing world will improve the standard of living, increase efficiency in production and become a base for economic growth, without this transfer these countries will fall further into poverty and economic ruin, with little hope for survival. For most people of the developed world, the developing world is not something they concern themselves with; they do not see it everyday and therefore it does not exist. This could not be farther from the truth. The developing world is in need of help but the developed world constantly turns a blind eye. Our...

Elixir

...Elixir 2011 Sustainable Success to futuristic approach MR. HARISH BIJOOR: Marketing Approach Sustainability is a movement. Sustainable marketing is all about needs, desires and wants. Marketing is all about practice. It is a communication between you and your customers. Consumer is a morph. There is an impact of recession on the market. Be like the consumer and plan accordingly. Marketers don’t know their customers any more. Brand managers are depending on intermediaries for information, they are focusing on branding and advertising. In such they are building walls between themselves and target segments. Some of the theories suggested by Mr. Harish Bijoor are as follows 1. Get off the script: According to him modern retail store does not occupy less then 5.5% of market it is the Kirana stores that accommodate around 92%. So sustainable marketing is all about focusing in unorganized sector. Let the product speak and not the marketing. Eg: Pizza Hut (Keep the smile going), Jet Flight 2. Trysumers: It means a new consumer. Such consumers try everything before they buy. 3. Demand generation has taken a back seat: “Why buy when you can borrow”. – Proscmer Movement. People nowadays have started considering installments (emi) as an option to try a product and if it suits the consumer needs it will buy. So marketers have to create a demand in order to sustain with the competition. 4. Marketing the sublime and the ridiculous: Marketing hype is distributing real...
