...Running head: ACCURACY OF DATA INPUT Accuracy of data input Intro Printed questionnaires Since we are working with a document that was created digitially, then printed on paper making it analog, the trick will be finding a method that easily converts the questionnaire's answers back to digital. Options are limited, since we would be relying on the individual's handwritten marks. The ability to scan test using scantrons has been around for a while, and has proven to be an efficient and effective way to quickly grade test. However, scantrones, or OMRs, rely on the testee to fill in bubbles using only #2 pencils. For the purposes of our questionaire, this would work, but #2 pencils would have to be supplied with the questionaire. A better method would be using OCR technology that scans and recongnizes the document based on light properties. With this method, the questionaires could be filled out using any analog input device, pencils or pens. Telephone survey Telephone surveys used to be conducted primarily by a pool of telemarketers that would use terminals to input the user's responses to questions. However, automated voice technology has enable a greater number of calls to go out that ask the user questions based on prerecorded questions. Because of this method, automated survey's rely on user input from touchtone key input, or automated voice response. Automated voice response systems has improved, but they rely on the background noice from the user’s side to be quite...

...Input controls Computer input devices provide users with the ability to control hardware and software functions. Input devices also pass data to the computer. This data can come in many forms, including text, images and audio. There are a lot of input devices you can use with a computer, but they all tend to perform a similar set of functions. Understanding input functions is not typically difficult and is key to understanding how computers work generally. At the most basic level, an input device is for passing data to a computer system. The most basic forms of input commonly used with computers therefore include portable disk drives and CDs. Portable storage devices such as external hard drives and USB memory sticks store various types of data, contained within digital files. When connected to a computer, these can act as input devices, allowing users to copy files onto the computer system. The keyboard is one of the most frequently used computer input devices. Keyboards are connected to PCs through cables or built-in to the same hardware item in cases such as laptops. Users can input text using their keyboard for functions such as word processing, emailing and carrying out Internet activities including entering website addresses, performing searches and emailing. With tablet PCs and touchscreen smartphones, users enter text using the screen, which acts as both an input and output device. ...Input Device Facts Common interfaces used for connecting input devices include: * 6-pin mini-DIN (PS/2 connector) for keyboard and mouse * USB for keyboard, mouse, and other devices * Infrared and wireless connections for keyboards, mouse, and other devices * DB-9 (serial) connector for specialized input devices The following table lists several considerations for selecting input devices. Device Type | Considerations | Keyboard | Keyboards typically connect through a PS/2 or USB port. Many keyboards include special function keys that simplify playing music or browsing the Web. Some keyboards include a built-in USB port that can be used to connect other peripheral devices. | Mouse | A mouse typically connects through a PS/2 or USB port. A wireless mouse typically transmits to a receiving station attached through a USB port. * Mechanical mice use a roller ball to detect motion. The roller ball must be cleaned periodically to ensure proper functionality. * Optical mice use light rays to detect motion. Optical mice require less maintenance than mechanical mice. * Motion-based mice can accurately detect mouse movement while in the air. This particular device can attach to a user's head and moves the cursor when the head moves. * You can select mice with multiple additional buttons or a scroll wheel to add functionality. * A trackball is a pointing device that is like an upside-down mechanical mouse where the user manipulates the pointer by...

...What is the meaning behind Computer Input / Output Architecture and Organization? Input is the entering of data into a computer system, whereas output is the transferring of data to an external item, such as printer. “The input /output modules are the third critical element of a computer system. The CPU and Memory are the first and second most critical elements.” (C.A.O). “The computer system’s Input /Output architecture is its interface to the outside world. This architecture is designed to provide a systematic means of controlling interaction with the outside world and to provide the operating system with the information it needs to manage I/O activity effectively.” (C.O.A.L). There are three main techniques for I/O, which are Programmed, Interrupt-Driven, and Direct Memory Access (DMA). These three techniques are essential for I/O. The Programmed I/O happens under direct and continuous control of a program requesting the operation. The Interrupt-Driven is when a program issues a command and continues to execute, until it’s interrupted by the hardware to signal the end of the operations. Finally, the DMA is when a specialized processor takes over control of an operation to move a large block of data. All three play significant roles in the architecture of the I/O in a Computer. An organization will have to have a large inventory of assets for just the basic Input Devices, Output devices, and both Input/ Output Devices related to the architecture of a company. A company...

...Input and output devices Input and output devices are a vital part of each computer, whether personal or public all come equipped with these devices or ports. These parts are very important as they enable us to control the computer and information in a variety of ways. Now having a vast array of ports and devices, there are some that are used more than others. Example an input device would be the keyboard, it is used to type or tell the computer what it is we want to do. Another would be the monitor in which it displays whatever it is that we are typing or if watching a video, displaying at the time it is playing. Now an example of an output device we use daily would be speakers for listening to music already stored on the computer. An example of an I/O port that is used by everyone using a computer would be the USB port. It connects everything from printers, scanners, and flash drives, all the way to cellphones to be charged as well as connecting a laptop to a desktop to transfer information. But this is the most used port out of any on a computer. Now, there are devices that can be considered an input as well as an output device. One of these devices that is considered to be both could be a modem. The case being, that it retrieves but also sends data at the same time, thus being an input and output device simultaneously. Furthermore printers can also be considered an input device though they are mostly known for being output devices. The reason they can also be an input device...

What method of data input would be best for each of the following situations and explain why: · Printed questionnaires Keyboard; aside from avoiding uncertainty from unclear handwriting or other methods, and because "...most input data consists of letters and numbers. In addition, people are usually familiar with how to use keyboards and with the layout of the keys. Thus, little training is required for users to become familiar with keyboards" Or an OMR or optical mark recognition. · Telephone survey Touch-tone (keypad) input. Also considered a keyboard by the text, so the cite still applies here for reasoning. Or voice recognition is best because a voice input device can be programmed to distinguish answers spoken into the receiver allowing it to all be completed by computers. · Bank checks scanning devices that recognizes bar codes are called MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) a magnetic scanning input device. This system reads the numbers at the bottom of the checks and will mechanically make modifications to the correct accounts. A MICR input system will magnetize the information at the bottom of the check for simple interpretation. ...In the article “The Resurrection of Christ: Theological Implications” the argument is made that the bodily resurrection of Christ is one of the essential doctrines that the Christian faith must center around by Dr. Daniel Wallace. His case is built in both the Old Testament and New Testament. He examines sermons in Acts and the letters written by Paul to show the foundational necessity of the resurrection; he also show the hope the people in the Old Testament times had found in Daniel also, giving balance between the prophecy and those that had seen or experienced Christ . Wallace examines multiple different positions that hinge on the resurrection being real. Wallace’s writing easy to read and to the point. The way he writes you do not need to be a scholar to understand it and thus makes it open to all people not just the educated. The way he used his scripture references was one of the strengths I found in reading this article. There is great importance in using scriptural fact to support and backing the opinion put forth. He draws out all the main points to the resurrection with concise detail putting it all plainly before the readers. The quote by George Eldon Ladd used by Wallace, “If Christ is not risen from the dead, the long course of God’s redemptive acts to save people ends in a dead-end street, in a tomb.” I found this the most thought provoking, for if Christ is not risen everything ended long before I ever heard the good news. There are very few weaknesses to...

...Input Devices Input devices – is devices that we put INTO the computer from the real world to receive data or information. ID can be as human interaction as keyboard and mouse or simply environmental data as sensors. This is the list of possible examples of input devices such as : Camera , Compact Disk, Keyboard , Mouse , Digital Camera, Microphone , Drawing Tablet , Scanner, Disk Drive , Joystick , Touch Screen, Barcode reader , Business Card reader , Magnetic-stripe reader, etc. First of all, an input device is any hardware device that sends data to the computer, without any input devices. In other words the input unit is formed by the input devices attached to the computer. An input unit takes the input and converts it into binary form so that it can be understood by the computer. Camera is used during live conversations. The camera transmits a picture from one computer to another, or can be used to record a short video. Compact Disk (CD) - The CD can be put into another computer, and the information can be opened and added or used on the second computer. There is one possible thing like a CD-R or CD-RW can be used as an output device. Keyboard is a way to input letters or numbers into different programs or web-bourses. A keyboard also has special keys that help operate the computer. For ex. key “Microsoft” that helps us to open “start” section whenever we need. Mouse is used to open and close files, navigate web sites, and click on a lot of commands (to tell the...

...These controls are commonly referred to as input controls, according to the World Wide Web Consortium. There are many types of input controls that can be used in a web form. They help to provide a framework for the kind of data that will be submitted by users. Selecting the correct input control for a data field is critical. Text input, select box, radio button, and checkboxes are four examples of input controls. As pointed out by Ponce de Leon, most input controls are visual and interactive. There is also something called a hidden input control. They can be used to store system critical data, such as database key data, that the user does not need to interact with. Text type input controls are used to input text. They provide a single-line input field in which any text can be entered. The text type input controls are useful for form data such as names, street addresses, and user names. This data is viewable on the screen, so it ought to not be used for passwords. In user interface design, input controls are an integral part of any form and allows users to perform a variety of functions to ensure that input data is correct complete and secure. Data input controls ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data during its conversion from its original source into computer data, or into a computer application. Data can be entered into a computer application from either manual online input or by scheduled automated processing. The input control designer should determine the adequacy...
