Most of the UNF Academic Integrity Code is fair to the student with its has six different rules of integrity code to measure students. The six rules include cheating, fabrication & falsification, multiple submissions, plagiarism, abuse of academic materials, and complicity in academic dishonesty. The
First, UNF has effective measures on the first rule, cheating, because they contain strong words that prevent students from cheating. Many students want to get a good grade so they turn to creative people who use many different styles of cheating. UNF uses the word “intentionally” for this rule. An example of creative cheating is a female student using her nail and putting all the important vocabulary shnauthorized materials” for cheating to prevent from students creative cheating. However, UNF also needs to improve this rule because sometimes, students unintentionally do cheat. For example, during the exam time, a student just wants to see the time so he tries to look up. At that time, he sees the paper of in front of the student accidently. If a situation like this happens, how can UNF deal with the situation? If UNF puts the words “faults of negligence are also cheating”, they can handle the unintentional problem easily. The second rule is Fabrication and Falsification. This rule also has both strong and weak parts. First of all, this rule chooses good words such as “unauthorized alteTherefore, the students may think of inventing resources and citations from their brain especially when they are close to the assignments due date. This rule picks specific words to prevent students from being in violation of the rule. However, occasionally, resources disappear by writers or webpage administrators especially with Internet resources. At this time, how can UNF deal with the situation? If UNF put the words “can officially existences of academic resources” they can handle this problem because most students save the resource by picture, PDF file, Words file, or print it out. The last rule is complicity in academic dishonesty. This rule needs to be more specific because UNF uses illusory words such as “providing assistance in any form.” These words may confuse students as it can be interpreted in different ways. How would students know when providing assistance be considered dishonest. Therefore, UNF needs to change these illusory words to specific words and include example situations to students who can get some ideas of the rules. For instance, providing assistance that can help other students und\e stronger than now. Consequently, most of the UNF Academic Integrity Code rules are very fair and effective for the students and choose specific words that protect students from violating the rules. However, even though UNF’s Academic Integrity Code has strong parts of its rules, they still have weaknesses so they need to improve the rules so they can make very strong academic rules.

Code Of Integrity

...values above others. Widespread in nature, individuals and corporations value men of integrity. Some of my earliest memories contain my father teaching me the ways of integrity. He taught me that I should be the person who can always be trusted. He taught me how to make the right decisions, even when making the right decision angers the people I am with at the time. Integrity is the fortitude to do the right thing and fight the temptation despite the difficult circumstances. As I am with some of my close friends, they begin to discuss what acid would be like and how great of experience it would be. Within the next few minutes, I look over to see my one of them making a phone call. I end up in the back of a car as we pull out of the driveway and head to the local gas station. Once we arrive, the driver opens his door and extends his hand. I can see the inside of his palm—cash. This is a drug deal, I realize. Shocked, I begin to mentally prepare myself for trying acid. I think back to the child who always listened to his parents. I remember the promise my dad forced me to make. I promise to never try any drugs, Dad. You have nothing to worry about....

Njit's Code Of Academic Integrity

...exist a code of conduct. Essentially a code of conduct acts as a set of rules that outlines the social norms, and responsibilities of its organization. Ethics sounds similar to laws, but they have one major difference. Ethics are social guidelines focused on morality, while laws act as rules and regulations that have punishments. These guidelines will have similarities and vary depending on the company or university. This can be seen when looking at the code of academic integrity of Rutgers University and New Jersey Institute of Technology(NJIT). NJIT’s policy on academic integrity is brief, but with condensed information. The policy is broken up into different sections. The first section being “Purpose”, a reasoning behind the policy itself. The university strives to develop and maintain a high level of ethics and honesty among the community. The second section gives definitions for key words used throughout the policy. The four keywords are: academic...

Alcoa's Case

...Alcoa’s Case Study 2 1. How would you classify Alcoa’s ethical climate? Which ethical criterion, as shown in figure 5.1., was used by the company: egoism (self-centered), benevolence (concern for others) or principles (integrity approach)? Or, using Professor Paine’s two distinct ethics approaches, as discussed in this chapter, was Alcoa’s approach more compliance or integrity? Alcoa since its inception had a very strong values and the people itself enforce these values, all the employees knew clearly that all the decisions should be done according to the Alcoa’s Core standards. Since my point of view the corporate culture sets the ethical work climate of the firm as principle (integrity approach) because Alcoa expected personal morality from their workers, the rules and procedures with to be followed by the organizations, and laws and professional codes were to be followed in society. I would classify Alcoa’s ethical work climate one of high standards. Using Professor Paine’s ethics studies, Alcoa’s has an integrity based approach that combines a concern for the law with an emphasis on employee responsibility for ethical conduct. Employees are told to act with integrity and conduct their business dealings in an environment of honesty and fairness. That’s why O’Neill fired the manager, because none employee could have a misperception about the company values, even though this manager had a record of increased sales and profitability. The top management commitment played...

...to prove the production satisfies the specific standardization. Unfortunately, the design of Goodrich was denied by the LTV due to failure testing, and then the company comprised and replaced by the five-disk brake in the end. Based on the analyzing the A7D affair, the main issue addressed in the case is “what can a worker choose between individual integrity and loyalty to the company”. In other words, when the officials require the profit seems to be immoral or even illegal, as a worker, could he tell the truth or comply with the decision made by the director of the company. Through the different attitudes and responses to the unqualified brake by different person within the company, the author brought the business issue into discussion. Furthermore, same person also have the different attitudes for the unqualified brake. For example, Vanivier wanted to preserve his individual integrity at first and changed his attitude in order to save his job eventually. Therefore, the issue could be addressed. Eventually, Goodrich changed the original design and replaced by five-disk brake. However, it is difficult to retain personal integrity when the company requires meeting the demand for a goal or sales. Moreover, although the worker shows his loyalty to the company, he still has the possibility to be blamed by the director. Sometimes, the worker could be a scapegoat in a crucial default. We must surpass our customers’ expectations by providing friendly help, support, and complete disclosure of options available to them. We must prove that what we do and how we do it for them is superior to our competitors. Respect is the esteem and dignity we convey in the dealings with our clients. We esteem them, their families, their property, and their personal belongings. Because of this respect, we treat and advise them as if they were our own family. Integrity is an adherence to moral principles; soundness of moral character; honesty. In other words, we do what we say we’re going to do when we’re going to do it. We keep our word and our commitments. We do what is right when eyes are watching and when they’re not. Relationships are what we build to endure time. Marcus and Simon

...Marcus and Simon Case Study (Draft) As part of Core Ethical values, it is recommended that employees exercise good judgment in their professional practices and abide by all ethical principles as laid out in Company’s code of conduct manual. It is all employees’ responsibility to adhere to a high level of honesty, integrity and self-discipline at the work place. In the case of Marcus and Simon, I think Simon should “Take the Bull by the horns” and do what is appropriate in the interest of fairness and for the good of the Company and public at large. Marcus may have been a friendly boss, and Godfather to Simon’s two children. He should lean more towards loyalty to the profession. It is true that Marcus is an even-tempered man and a real professional. That notwithstanding, the quality of his work has begun to slide and if proper action is not taken, it could lead to a catastrophic end of the company. Marcus is going through serious personal struggle. Marcus’ marriage of twenty years is ending abruptly due to infidelity on the part of his wife. The situation is taking a toll on him, and negatively impacting his job performance. Several Marcus’ colleagues have become aware of what he is going through and offered to help but he declined their offer. This could be pried taking over common sense. I believe Simon should follow his hunch that if proper action is not taken, Marcus’ errors will impact the firm and will in turn have terrible consequences for both the public and the...

Many of you have strong memories about recent events in your lives, such as promotion, schooling, a new baby, or a transfer. These events and ones yet to come, serve to shape your values and attitudes for the future. However, values and attitudes do not automatically change just because someone puts on an Army uniform. Some values and attitudes, when coupled with a lack of awareness, or insensitivity about others that are different from ourselves, can produce confrontations, anger, and even violence. It is imperative all soldiers and civilian employees recognize and manage their differences so they do not interfere...

A Student’s View on Ethics and Values

...People’s ethics and values are shaped over a lifetime. Brown (2007, p.43) states, “My ethical code has been influenced by my life experiences, my family, my coworkers, my religion and faith, and, to a lesser degree, leaders or mentors that I have admired.” The author agrees early factors that contribute to a person’s groundwork are their family and environment. As people progress through life, their experiences transform this groundwork into the standards that all of their decisions are based upon. While this code evolves and changes, individuals choose what fragments of their codes are most important to them. This situation is first encountered when the individual enters their first educational institution. They must then consider their own ethics and values and yet also that of their institution. Quickly, the individual will learn that their ethics and values must run parallel to that of the institution. Comparably, once a person enters a professional or business setting, their ethics and values must consider that of their business. These educational and professional experiences reflect the guidelines that individuals live by. Another ethical value that touches many lives, some more than others, is integrity. Everyone learns the value of trust; however some follow it strictly while others consider it amendable and yet some disregard it all together. The author has grouped the two values together as they can relate to each other. An individual who is trustworthy is, more...
