1.0 Introduction

Nowadays the Intel I-Core processor is very popular and mainstream in the market. Besides that, many personal computers or laptop owned nowadays use this I-Core processors. There are three types of I-Core Processor: i3 Processor , i5 Processor and i7 Processor.

The aim of my research is to compare the performance, pricing, history, special recommendations, features of all three I-Core processors which one is the best and reliable.

In this report also represent my opinions and i’m going to recommend the best I-Core Processor out of the three processors.

2.0 Executive Summary

The reason i do this report is to tell about the comparison about the performance, pricing, history of the 4th Generation of I-Core Processor. Since nowadays many people especially teenagers nowadays are using the I-Core Processor.

I think that this report will help those people that is looking for a new laptop or buying the processor of the computer because my report clearly stated the weakness and the strongpoint of each features and specification of the I-Core Processors.

Besides that, the report can also act as a “sales kit” to tell that the customer which one is the most suitable I-Core processor to buy or to recommend.

2.0 Performances

2.1 Intel i3 Core Processor

The Intel Core i3 Processor is the new face of the Intel Core generation performance processor, follow up by the Core-2 version.

The technology behind Core i3 processors includes dual core base, hyper threading support, and visualization. (Kishore 2010, 1st paragraph). They inherit and they fully support the 64-bit version of any Windows like Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Core i3 have to been said have the availability to perform likely to Core 2 Quad Processors. It will have the same performance speed with the Core 2 Quad Processor.

If you use your personal computer for the simple tasks such as word processing, email, surfing the web, etc. A Core i3 processor is more than enough to handle all of that with ease. A core i3 processor is a solid, affordable choice for the heavy majority of people. Suits you.

And if anybody ask that is i3-Core fast for me? I will answer him that i3 is a zippy dual core processor suitable for any easy tasks and even for gaming itself. Due to Intel’s micro-architecture compared to the AMD processors, the i3 processor is known to be the low-end and basic demanding processors. (play_festivity 2011, 4th paragraph). Besides that, it also have the hyper-threading and if you use the computer intensive software is multi-threaded.. You can take the benefits of the 4 threads that a Dual Core i3 can process.

For the gamers, the i3 is the equivalent of an Intel Celeron or the Mobile processor. It has a cut down BUS speed, smaller cache, and it's only a dual core instead of a quad. It's alright, but if you're upgrading your computer, it'll be out of date in too short a time to make it worthwhile. (Skorpyo 2011, 7th paragraph) I3 Processor is suitable for low-end users and softwares.

2.2 Intel i5 Core Processor
The first Core i5 using the Nehalem micro-architecture was introduced on September 8, 2009, as a mainstream variant of the earlier Core i7, the Lynnfield core.(Intel 2010, 1st paragraph) i5 processors will give you a noticeable difference in speed, depending on what type of applications that you run. (Kishore 2010, 2nd paragraph)
Technically, Core i5 processors are marketed a bit differently. There are two main types of Core i5 Processors, dual core, and quad core. Dual core i5 processors have 32nm technology, hyper threading support, virtualization support, and Turbo Boost technology. Quad core i5 processors have 45nm technology, virtualization support and Turbo Boost technology, but do not have hyper threading support. (Kishore 2010, 2nd paragraph)
I5 Processors are really good for gaming. And it is depends on the software or game that you run. In heavily multi-threaded applications such as video encoding, the lack of Hyper-Threading hurts performance by as much as 20 per cent. I5 Processor is a good to go processor but still lacking what I7 have. ( Lloyd 2009, 3rd paragraph)

2.3 Intel i7 Core Processor
Intel Core i7 as an Intel brand name applies to several families of desktop and laptop 64-bit x86-64 processors using the Nehalem microarchitectures. (Intel 2010, 1st paragraph) The Core i7 brand targets the business and high-end consumer markets for both desktop and laptop computers.
The difference between i5 processor and i7 processor is they have different kind of microprocessors, and each of its processor varies from one another as much from the processors. I5 processors are mid-level offering, but i7 is more highly aimed at professionals and skillful programmers. The i7 have 4 to 7 cores inside.
We'll see big performance jumps from having all four cores inside the i7 Processor and the memory controller all on the same physical. Plus there's a new interface called Quickpath which replaces the old Front-Side Bus, so only new motherboards designed for Core i7 CPUs can use them. (Proto 2008, 9th paragraph)
If you want to add more in gaming, you should try the latest Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition. It has Vibrant Visuals that you can experience 3D graphics alongside with your game. (Intel 2014, 2nd paragraph) Besides that, it also has high-speed multi-tasking that boost an extra speed on your latest game title and other apps with Hyper-threading.

3.0 Pricing
3.1 Intel i3 Core Processor
The pricing of the Intel i3 processor may be a little expensive because speed isn't just measured in the clock speed. AMD CPU’s have much higher clocks, around 4GHz, and still perform worse than Intel's. (Unknown Author 2013, 2nd paragraph)Intel chips are faster and more efficient because of their architecture, general rule is, the higher the price tag the faster it is.

6.0 Analysis

Above of my research, this report compares and contrast three different I-Core Generation Processors : i3 Processor, i5 Processor, i7 Processor. These three I-Core Processors were created by Intel Cooperation to benefit the worldwide end-users.

The fact that 80% of people nowadays using the latest I-Core Processor now. Furthermore, more and more people is changing their limitations everyday. And not just of that , the technology is keep updating and improving everyday. So we should look deep and further.

Throughout my analysis and research, i found that i5 processor is the best to go. Because it much more cheaper than i7 processor. And i3’s speed cannot compare to the i5 although it is cheaper than i5. Thus, i5 is the most suitable I-C0re Processor and the specification is quite satisfying users.

I7 is the most expensive of top of this. And its performance speed is very fast and it has a good Hyper Threading boost that can decrease the number of dependent instructions on the pipeline so that the operating system can handle many process at once. But in Malaysia, i7 Core Processor is being unpopular is because of its expensive price and more people especially teenagers in Malaysia prefer i5 Processor.

7.0 Conclusion

As a conclusion, i5 Core Processor is the most suitable choice for teenagers in Malaysia nowadays. And many affordable laptops and computers are using the i5 processors.

I hope i5 Processor will satisfy more users in the future and i also hope that more and more people will look in i5 Processor and have interest in it.

...June 20, 2013 Unit 1 Assignment 1: Integrated Circuit Technology The table: The processor model and year when two billion transistors were placed on a single processor chip is: Intel is expected to give attendees at the super-techie conference a rundown on Tukwila specs, and on its upcoming low-power Silverthorne processor. The new 65-nanometer Tukwila Itanium processor, which is expected to be released at the end of this year, will run at up to 2 GHz, have dual-integrated memory controllers and use Intel's QuickPath interconnect instead of a front-side bus. The processor also will have 2 billion transistors on one chip, according to Rob Shiveley, a spokesman for Intel. Itanium, which first hit the market in 2001, targets enterprise servers and high-performance computing machines. "The more transistors on a chip, the more work you get out of that chip," said Dean Freeman, an analyst at Gartner Inc. "With one of these new chips, you should get better performance than you would with two chips out of the previous generation." For some perspective, an earlier Itanium processor, Montecito, was built on 90nm technology and held 1.7 billion transistors. And Penryn, Intel's new 45nm chip for the desktop, which it released last November, has 820 million newly designed transistors. Shiveley noted that Tukwila is expected to have double the performance of Montvale, another Itanium processor that was released late last year, while using only 25% more power. He added that the...

...fetch execute cycle). The Workshop PC has an “AMD Athlon 64x2 4400+” processor these processors were first implemented into machines in 2005 meaning it has a possibility of being up to 6 years old. This processor has 2 cores meaning that the processor can receive 2 data strings at once rather than individually receiving them. Having a dual core processor is better than just a single core due to the fact that it can handle more data at once. But there are also newer quad core processors which would be much better than this processor. This processor has a core speed of 2294.4 MHZ this seems to be a reasonable speed for a processor to run at. It also has a multiplier of 11.5 having a multiplier of 11.5 means that there will be 11.5 cycles for every external clock cycle. The processor has a bus speed of 199.5MHz, the bus speed refers to how much data can travel across the bus at any one specific time. The speed of the bus can drastically affect the computers performance as the bus is essential for the transfer of data. The processor requires 1.350v of power to run it, this is relatively high compared to a lot of modern CPU’s that are available. The AMD Athlon has cache L1 data and L1 Inst of 2 x 64Kbytes and has L2 of 2 x 512Kbytes. The amount of cache memory is important as the cache memory stores data from the most used memory locations of the hard drive. The CPU cache memory is the first place that the processor will check to see if the data that it needs is there before looking...

Intel vs Amd

...INTEL v/s AMD When researching the differences between Intelligence processors (INTEL) and Advance Micro Devices (AMD) it is safe to say they both have importance to the type of project in which you are performing keeping in mind you can’t install an AMD processor in an Intel-compatible motherboard or vice versa. INTEL processors are the more expensive of the two more often because of their better “frames per second” which make gaming experiences better. It was found to have better battery capacity with sleep states and enhanced power management which gives it mobility for the more “on the move type” personnel. Intel processors, although better for these reasons, lack in upgrade potential for the money that is spent. Even the latest CPU on the market, with an Intel processor, runs with the same default frequencies as earlier models with no noticeable difference in speed. This is due to the positioning of a controller that communicates with the memory and the processor. This process slows down the flow of information. AMD processors, on the other hand, communicate directly with the computer’s memory. Unlike its competition, AMD capable computers can have multiple processing units on one chip with multiple cores. The two basic processors are meant for personal computers and video card use which range from video editing to 3D gaming. This not only makes it more capable of performing more tasks, it also makes it a more affordable choice. I personally own...

Amd vs Intel

...AMD VS Intel In a June addition of Tech Radar there was some discussion on the topic of which processor is better and why. There was a lot of back and forth topic on these issues, so I will try to cover what I found to be relevant in this discussion. I could boar with technical numbers of calculating and over clocking schematic but here, we will look more at the consumer side of which may or may not be better. Firstly, I noticed one major difference between the two processors and that was price. If you look at price and performance between the two you will see that the gap in cost over sees the menial performance changes. For example an AMD processor may coast $50 and deliver only slightly lower performances, where as Intel will charge almost three times the amount for slightly higher performances. Now keep in mind that we are comparing apples to apples. Because if we take into account over clocking and other performance enhancing techniques it will affect the performance/price gap that we are seeing. Another hot button issues is the fact that AMD has been trailing behind Intel for many years especial in the desktop world of performance. While AMD has promised a lot, they have simply failed to deliver multiple times on their accusations of out preforming Intel. In fact, AMD has focused their efforts into the mobile market as seen with AMD’s new line of A series CPU’s (A4, A6, A8, and A10). So with that which is best? I think it all depends on what you are looking...

Intel and the Microprocessor

...Term Paper: History of Intel and its microprocessors The microprocessor is a chip made of silicon that holds a central processing unit. Both the term’s central processing unit or CPU and microprocessor can be used and mean the same thing. The human brain has been compared to a microprocessor. Microprocessors are ultra fast calculators and what makes a microprocessor appear intelligent is the speed at which it can process data. The electronics industry names, microprocessors first by makers name and then model family name or number. A recent example, are the Intel Core i7 and AMD FX 8 Core Black Edition. Microprocessors provides scientist, engineers, architects, graphic designers, researchers, and other professionals with the processing power users to perform all the many functions needed to do their jobs and make new discoveries and explore what before could not have been even imagined. The history of microprocessors will be covered; this includes the history of Intel Corporation, important highlights in the development of the microprocessor. All digital computers use electronic switches. These switches represent binary digits or bits. The first computers used vacuum tubes as switches to represent on-or-off binary data, but vacuum tubes had many problems. Without the invention of the transistor, microprocessors and the modern computer would not be possible. Bell Laboratory engineers John Bardeen and Walter Brattain invented the transistor in 1947 (transistor). Transistors...

Report to Compare and Contrast the Hardware Specification of Two Laptops/Desktops or Servers.

...report, I will be comparing two different computers and comparing the various aspects of hardware specifications of the two separate platforms in detail, including performance in terms of processor, memory and storage. The first computer I have chosen for this report is a 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, which is a powerful laptop, also known as a notebook. This computer is made by a company called Apple, which is possibly the most desirable brand in the computer hardware market today. The second computer I have chosen, for which to compare against the MacBook Pro, is the 27-inch iMac with Retina display, which is an innovative and modern desktop which is also a product of the company Apple. The reason I have chosen these two computers for this report is in part because they are from the same company, and a company which, according to the Forbes website, is number 1 on the list of the world’s most valuable technology brands. (Forbes 2014). Due to the prestigious position of the Apple Company, both these computers will no doubt have been built using the most up to date technology, the best engineers and designers, and the best possible materials. By using the same brand, we will be given a good insight into the differences between the most powerful laptop and the most powerful desktop which were both designed using the best resources possible. To compare these two computers adequately and fairly, I felt it was necessary to choose the model from each category which possessed...
