... Learning Team Reflection Simulations administer a productive learning environment for students. The use of simulations in education is becoming an effective tool for students and offers several benefits. A major benefit of simulations is that it enhances the problem solving skills of a student. This week Team D went through two simulations that allowed us to make ethical decisions based on the four lenses, where each had a different perspective in the decision-making process. In this summary, Team D will compare and contrast the usefulness of doing assignments based on simulations as opposed to writing paper s that answer questions. Team D will also make a decision regarding which we prefer as a team and provide the reasons. When comparing the usefulness of doing assignments based on simulations as opposed to writing papers that mostly answer questions, Team D finds there are differences between the two. Doing assignments based on simulations is a structured approach, which gives the opportunity for a more hands learning experience. Writing papers that mostly answer questions is a different approach that externalizes our learning. One needs to find information to answer the questions asked when writing a paper. This may require some research and a different thought process than simulation learning. Therefore, we can say that simulations are an internalized approach to learning and writing papers that mostly answer questions is an approach...

...Running Head: FINAL REPORT PLATFORM EVALUATION Final Report: Platform Evaluation Kimberly Kick University of Phoenix EDTC 555, Internet and Distance Education Delivery Marianne Justus September 9, 2003 Platform Evaluation Final Report This paper is Part 3 of 3 of a Distance Delivery Platform Evaluation Project. The purpose of the paper is to make a recommendation based on the distance delivery platform analysis completed in the report titled “Production Investigation Paper” dated August 26, 2003. Distance Education Platform Based upon the needs of the system engineers, Cisco is seeking to accelerate the training and complete it in a shorter period of time to better accommodate an SE’s hectic schedule. Based on this feedback from the SEs, create a blended e-learning solution that combined both live and self-paced components. A blended solution would be very valuable, because if all the material were placed in a self-paced format, engineers wouldn’t have the opportunity to learn from each other or to talk with a subject matter expert. Most learners prefer some interaction, but the team’s past training experience revealed that it’s extremely important for analytical people to have this ability to share information with peers and to have access to an expert. Produce and deliver self-paced activities such as quizzes and a case study via OutStart Evolution. They designed the activities in a learning object model to...

...Online Business Simulations Like the last entry, this entry is also derived from a paper I wrote for my master's work in the Technology, Innovation, and Education program at Harvard's Graduate School of Education. My advisor on this project was noted knowledge networks researcher Barry Fishman, visiting Harvard from the University of Michigan. Harvard Business School Publishing is about to launch the first two products in our new series of online business simulations and I wanted to investigate how we can ensure that this product line produces effective learning for our customers. This paper explores a framework for assessing effectiveness in online business simulations. Introduction Problem Statement and Paper Structure Harvard Business School Publishing (HBSP) has created a new product line of online business simulations. We know from faculty customer surveys that they are highly concerned themselves with how easy the simulations are to use, administer, and debrief, and that they are equally concerned that their demanding, and increasingly technically-literate, students rate the learning experience as engaging and dynamic. Hence these eLearning products are designed to be engaging, interactive, usable and teachable. We also know from faculty surveys that these types of learning tools are considered to be very effective. But what does the literature say about these kinds of claims? How can HBS Publishing know whether users of these simulations are truly learning...

...Interactive Simulation Paper Tony Gwinn MGT/434 February 13, 2014 Haley Major Green Interactive Simulation Paper The prevention of workplace discrimination has become a serious issue with hiring companies. Work place discrimination is when employees are treated unfairly due to race, gender, national origin, religion, age, veteran status or disability that is protected by law. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination of a worker due to race, gender, sex, national origin or religion. Companies or organizations must make sure they are adhering to the guidelines for discrimination as set forth in Title VII. There are many things that can be done to prevent discrimination of people with disabilities or drug use. A disability is defined as a person with physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, including the ability to work, has a record of impairment, or is regarded as having impairment (About.com). The American with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) is an amendment of Title VII intends to make sure society is more accessible to people with disabilities. This amendment applies to companies with 20 or more employees. Title VII has been changed many times and amended from its existence to prohibit discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin (Bennett, 2007). There are several things an employer can do to accommodate people with disabilities such as making the workplace...

...Disease prevention through vaccination, while not the end-all-be-all solution, would help. To reiterate what I had said in the beginning of the paper, we are waging a war on diseases. It’s been this way for a significant amount of time. Virus’ and bacteria mutate, become increasingly resistant to the antibiotics in our disposal. This exhibit is explaining the significance of vaccinations in disease prevention and I agree with it wholeheartedly. This is apparently a controversial issue, in it that there are some people who believe that vaccinations are causes autism and other mental health defects. Not only is this incorrect and has been disproven long ago, but it carries a really harmful message that puts other people at risk. The simulation about how quickly measles would spread if 2% fewer people were vaccinated was astonishing. The dots on the screen (that indicated people infected) had risen sharply and shown quickly when compared to the normal state that was shown to you in the...

...Unit 1 Research Paper 1: Paradigm Shift Introduction In the past, virtual reality technology was thought of by many as a gimmick, and the hope for it to become a mainstream technology was discarded as products did not work as how the public envisioned. However, the proper technology is now available to make virtual reality just that: a reality. The entertainment industry is on the verge of a monumental paradigm shift that will completely transform the way these entertainment mediums are experienced. The typical experience of video games is one with a controller with joysticks that are used to control where the playable character is looking along with a monitor or television screen in front of the player. Today, this scenario is so typical that the detachment between the player and what is happening on the screen is something considered to be normal in the experience. In the next couple years however, this detachment will be largely erased as working virtual reality headsets become available to consumers across the world. Summary of Key Findings One notable product in the field of virtual reality technology is the Oculus Rift. What makes this product and others like it different from the virtual reality fad that permeated the entertainment industry a few decades ago? The Rift uses 360 degree low latency head tracking, an integral part of the complete virtual experience. In previous VR headsets, the latency, or delay, between a player’s head movement and the visual representation...

This paper will also details the relationship between positioning and differentiation of the products. This paper will also discuss about the repositioning and whether it is needed in the case of gallery furniture or not. The various effects of product life cycle along with the effect of product life cycle on the product of simulation. Situation The gallery furniture earned great customers from Houston and other store locations. But it is important to note that many people are now turning towards the furniture showrooms who spend great time in interacting with customers and also offering huge discounts. Gallery furniture is in a competitive market area where there are many competitors. Another important thing is, there are certain problems in the payment processing periods for the customers purchased online. These situations should need to be overcome.
