...Individual Assignment (#2) “Hasbro Interactive, Case Study” Strategic Marketing Management (MKT 600) Done By: Dima El Jalbout ID#: 23406 Submitted to: Dr. Elie Asmar Academic Year: Spring 2015-2016 Date: Monday, March 14, 2016 Long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away families had a game night—once a week they'd pull out a stack of boxes from a closet and everyone would flex their knowledge of trivia (Trivial Pursuit), vocabulary (Scrabble), or even their real-estate management skills (Monopoly). All these childhood memories, the related games and much more were created by “Hasbro, Inc”. Unfortunately the company end up being sold to another French company due to many failures discussed below. After Hasbro Inc and Hasbro Interactive and all the rapid growth and success the company has had, it began acquiring software firms and became separate divisions instead of one united entity. The owner was over optimistic; he set very high target sales and revenues which led to lots of missed targets and caused Hasbro interactive to start losing money. Structural challenges were many from which we can mention: * Hasbro’s related companies departments didn’t report to the main division, * No strategic plans for the company (other than acquiring as many companies with no consideration of the prices), * Main division set very aggressive sales expectations due to overconfidence, * Huge revenues gained by Hasbro interactive were spent on large employees’ bonuses...

...Running head: HASBRO INTERACTIVE CASE 1 Diego Hidalgo Ottawa University Planning and Budgeting Dr. Kayong Holston Hasbro Interactive case February 8th, 2016 HASBRO INTERACTIVE CASE 2 Introduction In 1995, chief executive of toy and game company Hasbro, Alan Hassenfeld, decided to take a risk on interactive games. During this time, it was believed that interactive games had a brilliant future given the improving multimedia capabilities of a personal computer. Soon after, Tom Dusenberry was charged with building the new division for Hasbro, to be named Hasbro Interactive (Anthony, 2007). This essay analyzes the evolution of Hasbro Interactive, its strategy compared to the traditional businesses, and its success as a division of the company. Hasbro Interactive Case During the developing stages of Hasbro Interactive, many outside experts (software developers) were consulted and hired in order to meet this division's specific demands. Under Dusenberry, Hasbro Interactive saw early revenues generated; these early revenues allowed for early growth and success. After a successful start, the division started acquiring firms that specialized in software development. Therefore, Hasbro Interactive needed to earn revenue from more sales. Key Points: .Today’s children have better platform by way of these shows to showcase their talent. .Overambitious and pushy parents as well as the insensitive television producers. For: .Reality shows provide a better platform than days of yore where one had a very small chance of being noticed unless one had exceptional talent and the understanding to make it big.Now there are multiple shows that provide forum for individuals with talent in a wide variety of fields .Many of the people today, who have outshone others in their field have been encouraged from their younger years. We did not have reality shows then, but still these diamonds had to be found, cut and polished to dazzle the world. .A remark from a teacher or a parent can have an equally, if not more devastating effect on the child’s psyche as that of the judge in the reality show.So it is not fair to start condemning everything. .It is all a matter of choice. One can choose to stay away from the arc lights and lead a normal life. The internet holds a whole lot of communication methods and the ones that our team Tech 89 have chosen to use are Interactive marketing, which holds a number of subcategories but we are only choosing a few; seeing as how communication can also be a downfall. For our Interactive Marketing we have chosen a Web Site, Search Advertisements (AD’s), and Display AD’s, following this list we will break down how we will seek to use such communication methods. Having a web site is crucial for any business in this fast advancing technology world, a web site is crucial for consumers to be able to know our mission statement, history, information on our product, specification on our product, solutions, where to find our product, recipes, and a way to communicate to our consumer and enhance along with strengthen our community. The other second Interactive Marketing we have chosen is Pay-Per-Click Advertisements. Our team found this method of advertisement, by only using this type of search method we are able to keep our cost down and still reach out to our consumer or potential customers, spark interest, and raise product awareness. By using paid search ad’s we will be able to attract more consumers seeking anything related to food, cooking, wine, art or anything that has to do with the kitchen. ...Homeless Court Programs The Issue: People experiencing homelessness often receive citations for public nuisance offenses and then fail to appear in court. Homeless defendants fail to appear in traditional courts, not because of a disregard for the court system, but due to their status and condition. For many homeless people, their day is consumed with a search for food, clothing and shelter. Most homeless persons are not in a position to fight the procedural or substantive issues a case presents. The homeless are aware that the court also requires a decent appearance. Not wanting to make a bad first impression, a homeless person with poor hygiene or without a place to store belongings may choose not to appear in court at all. Many homeless people are reluctant to attend court given the uncertainty of court proceedings and the threat of custody. Unresolved legal issues can ultimately preclude homeless people from accessing desperately needed services such as employment, housing, public assistance and treatment programs. The Solution: Homeless courts are special court sessions for homeless defendants to resolve outstanding misdemeanor offenses and warrants. Several jurisdictions in California have instituted Homeless Court Programs, including Contra Costa County, Alameda County, and Santa Clara County. San Diego County began the first homeless court program in the country in 1989. Homeless court programs reduce court and jail costs, build community collaboration, improve access...

...INTERACTIVE SESSION: ORGANIZATIONS INFORMATION SYSTEMS HELP KIA SOLVE ITS QUALITY PROBLEMS Korean car manufacturer Kia Motors started selling in the North American market, promising high-quality vehicles at prices well below the competition. In 1994, Kia sold 12,000 cars, and by 2004, Kia had sold 270,000 cars. From a marketing end standpoint, Kia has been a phenomenal success. But until 2002 Kia ranked at the bottom of J. D. Power and Associates’ annual initial-quality survey of new vehicle owners. In 1997 when the average North American car had 1.1 defects per vehicle, Kia had 2.75. In 2002 Kia had improved to 2.12 defects per vehicle, but the industry average was 1.33. Kia had a long way to go, and it was affecting its ability to sell cars, retain customers, and keep operational costs down. Like all manufacturers of vehicles sold in North America, Kia had to create a system by December 1, 2003 to report any defects, accidents, or injuries involving its vehicles to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Kia Motors uses a manufacturing and production system to help in identifying sources of defects in their automobiles. Kia uses the information from the system to improve its production processes to eliminate or reduce defects. Improving vehicle quality lowers Kia’s costs for warranty repairs while increasing customer satisfaction. CASE STUDY QUESTIONS 1. Why was it so difficult for Kia to identify sources of defects in the cars it...

...As part of my curriculum for the CDIS 530: Alternative and Augmentative Communication course that requires me to observe an individual using an alternative and augmentative mode of communication, I got an opportunity to observe a friend’s mother who has been diagnosed with severe Broca’s aphasia. I chose Mrs. K. for observation, as she is non-verbal and communicates her needs by a variety of methods. The observation took place at Mrs. K’s home, on a couple of occasions- once during a family get-together and the other time in the presence of a Speech Pathologist (private practitioner) who comes every week to provide remediation services to Mrs. K at her home. Mrs. K is a 58 year old housewife, who suffered from a cerebral vascular accident about three years ago. She is from a bilingual family; the languages spoken at home are predominantly Urdu and English. According to Mrs. K’s son, she herself is more proficient in Urdu, although she does understand English. Prior to the occurrence of cerebral vascular accident in May 2008, she was in good health and used to live alone in India, however after the occurrence of the stroke she has had to migrate to USA and has moved in with her son and his wife and their child 1 year of age.
