Job Listing Paper: “The Art of Interview Questions”
How do you handle stress and pressure? * I would ask this question because being a buyer for a company requires many patience and understanding of the people and situations around you. The job at hand is a very stressful one; always making sure the clothing line is in on time, made properly and on the floor on the right days. I wouldn’t want to hire someone who doesn’t handle stress well resulting in swearing or throwing objects. * Answer: Stress, in general, is important to me. When I am stressed I most always produce my best work. It keeps me on my toes and alert. The thing about stress I have found out is I have to have a balance between good and bad stress and pressure is a sure way to help me stay motivated. When I am under pressure I feel as though I am challenged, which is something I strive for in a job.
What is your greatest weakness? * This question would be asked to see where the interviewee stands. If there greatest weakness has to do with being late, or never completing their work, then they won’t be a good match for this job. * Answer: My greatest weakness would have to be my issue with perfectionism. I am a huge perfectionist and have to make sure I have enough time to check over my projects or papers before the deadline. I am a huge believer in always being on time. I have actually set up a system to ensure me that I will never be late thus, reducing any anxiety that may occur.
What do you find might be the most difficult decisions to make? * Asking this question ensures a behavioral style question. I would want to know how the employee would handle a situation with an angry associate or customer. If they seem to not be able to handle it themselves or get angry back at the customer or associate then they would not be a good cut for the company. * Answer: When working at Charlotte Russe I once had a woman get very irritated with the fact that her garment could not be returned. It was obviously worn and washed along with the fact that the tag was not on it. I simply explained to her our stores policy and how we cannot sell back a garment that has been worn and washed. Sometimes that doesn’t work so you have to get out the facts (Charlotte policy book). I told her how sorry I was that this was an inconvenience to her and that I hope we see her face again at Charlotte Russe.
Give me an example of when you showed initiative and took the lead. * This question would be asked to see how the potential employee reacts to talking about being a leader. Being a buyer means you have to listen to pitches and decide what clothing items you want to see in your company. If you are working with a group do you want to be in the lead? Are you a good leader? * Answer: Whenever I am involved in a group in school or on a board I always want to take the lead. I want everything to be put into my hands because I believe in myself to put forth the best product. I had to be in a group for my Intro to Fashion Class and I readily volunteered to be the leader. I made sure the group stayed on task and met every deadline exceeding the expectations of the Instructor. I like to use a planner to help me see the future assignments we have to complete as well as the due dates. I feel as though I have a good sense of who would be good at what when given a specific task and I like to be the one in charge of looking over the project before it’s being turned in. Being in charge definitely gives me more motivation and encouragement when the group does succeed.
Describe the pace at which you work. * Asking this question tells the interviewer whether you work too slow or too fast. If you work too slowly then you probably won’t be the best hire, and working too fast means you are running around like a crazy person trying to get everything done. Neither of which, would be an asset to the company. * The pace at which I work is very balanced. I like to keep myself at a steady pace so I’m not frantically running around nor working too slowly and not getting my work done. I have found that on Monday’s I like to set up a personal schedule to see what I have to accomplish everyday and also leave a little room for potential problems. I am undoubtedly always a hard worker but to me, that doesn’t mean running around the office ultimately making everyone else frazzled and stressed.

Interview Questions

...Sample Interview Questions with Suggested Ways of Answering Q. Tell me about yourself. A. This is the dreaded, classic, open-ended interview question and likely to be among the first. It's your chance to introduce your qualifications, good work habits, etc. Keep it mostly work and career related. Q. Why do you want to leave your current job? (Why did you leave your last job?) A. Be careful with this. Avoid trashing other employers and making statements like, "I need more money." Instead, make generic statements such as, "It's a career move." Q. What are your strengths? A. Point out your positive attributes related to the job. Q. What are your weaknesses? A. Everybody has weaknesses, but don't spend too much time on this one and keep it work related. Along with a minor weakness or two, try to point out a couple of weaknesses that the interviewer might see as strengths, such as sometimes being a little too meticulous about the quality of your work. (Avoid saying "I work too hard." It's a predictable, common answer.) For every weakness, offer a strength that compensates for it. Q. Which adjectives would you use to describe yourself? A. Answer with positive, work-oriented adjectives, such as conscientious, hard-working, honest and courteous, plus a brief description or example of why each fits you well. Q. What do you know about our company? A. To answer this one, research the company before you interview. Q. Why do you want to work for us? A. Same as above. Research the company before...

Reread your application/CV/covering letter, so that you can think about your skills and qualifications, and also questions that you might be asked. In order to do well in the interview you need to be able to convince the interviewer that you have the right skills for the job, this will include your motivation towards the job, how well you will fit into the company, along with meeting their academic and skills requirements. You should dress smartly and appropriately and should leave in plenty of time allowing for possible delays, so that you are not late. Remember first impressions last! Tips It's a good idea to ask for a glass of water, as you will be doing a lot of talking, but it’s also good to take a sip if you want a few seconds to think about the question asked. • Ensure that you are sitting comfortably in a position where you can address all the interviewers. • Make sure that you remember the names of the interviewers, and take note of their various roles. Clinical Interview Questions

...Clinical Interview Questions: Ten questions you would ask to learn more about a person’s problems, feelings, relationships, and background. The questions asked depend heavily on the nature of the client’s problem(s) (why they are there). Getting people to open up at any age can be a long and difficult process. Using a direct approach (to a point) is best because I believe many people who see a psychologist know why they are there. Many clients do not realize past events and childhood plays a large role in the way people are and can be to blame for many different problems in one’s life. Building a rapport with your client makes the client more comfortable so they will not hold back valuable information and in hopes help overcome life problems. Tell me about yourself- 1) Why are you here? (ex: my Mom/Husband made me...) 2) Why are you here now, instead of before this time in your life? 3) How long have your “symptoms” been happening- are they worsening? 4) What have you tried to do about your symptoms? (Drugs, alcohol…) 5) Thoughts of suicide/homicide or hurting yourself or others? 6) Do you have good relationships regarding, friends, co-workers, family, and possible spouse? 7) Do you take any medications prescribed to you? If so, what are they? 8) Tell me about your family/childhood, any abuse? (Physical, sexual, verbal) 9) Are you happy with your job/schooling? 10) What do you hope to make of these meetings with me? psy/270 week...

Interview Questions and Answers

...TEN TOUGH INTERVIEW QUESTIONS AND TEN SMART ANSWERS If only interviewees could have the slightest idea of the kind of questions interviewers will ask them, a lot more people would be able to overcome mental fear of the unknown which often produces the physical symptoms of nervousness. The best way to prepare mentally is to know what may be coming. Fear of the unknown can only exist when there is an unknown. Take the time to understand some of the standards when it comes to interviewing questions. The following are some of the most difficult questions you will face in the course of your job interviews. Some questions may seem rather simple on the surface such as ‘tell me about yourself’ but these questions can have a variety of answers. The more open ended the question, the wider the variation in the answers. Once you have become practiced in your interviewing skills, you will find that you can use almost any question as a launching pad for a particular topic or compelling story. Others are classic interview questions, such as “what is your greatest weakness”? Questions most people answer improperly. In this case, the standard textbook answer for the greatest weakness question is to provide a veiled positive such as: I work too much. I just work and work and work. Wrong. Either you are lying or, worse yet, you are telling the truth, in which case you define working too much as a weakness and really do not want to work much at all. The following answers are provided to give...

Important Interview Questions

..."Do you work well under pressure?" In most cases, the best answer to this question is answering yes. Working well under pressure is a good trait to have. However, I think if you answer that you work the same with pressure and without pressure, the interviewer will be more impressed. However, you will need to explain in words why this is better. Here are some of my answers. Short Answers "I work well under pressure because I use the pressure to help me work more efficiently." "I enjoy working under pressure because I believe it helps me grow. In my previous experience, I always worked well during deadlines, and I always learned how to work more efficiently afterwards." | | There are two reasons I should be hired. First, my qualifications match your needs perfectly. Second, I'm excited and passionate about this industry and will always give 100%." Besides studying, I played baseball for our school. I really like to study and to stay physically active." I majored in English because it was a major that would make me more skilled in reading, writing, and communicating. I believe English is a tool that is used everywhere, so I thought it was the best major for me." Whenever I'm confronted with a conflict, I always follow a simple process.
