Invictus by William E. Henley and the Documentary Evolution of a Criminal are very similar they share` similar, theme, tone, and in some sense order of events. These two have the same general theme; the theme is main life is tough, the decisions and things we do in life can put us in a dark place. Even though you are in that dark place you do not have to stay there, you can come out. Invictus is Latin for "invicta" meaning “unconquerable” or “undefeated”. In William Henley's poem, he describes someone with the qualities of being undefeated and unconquerable. Moreover, to me that also seem to describe Darius, as he was unwilling to be defeated or conquered he was "invicta". Darius choose to interview people for his documentary some were family member, one was his juvenile prosecutor, he used some of this current co-workers, former teaches, a school campus police officer, and some friends from around the time he committed the crime. The interviews gave the audience a clear background of Darius how he lived, and what his character was like. His good character played a big part in why he had such a lenient sentence; they showed he was a respectful, straight A, nice, quiet, smart, good kid; which we would never know unless we saw those interviews. He also uses music in the development of his movie music helped the emotion in the movie when he interviewed a family member or teacher and they would say good and sincere things about him the music would tell it. The music would become soft in tone, have a sweet melody, and a slower rhythm; but when the juvenile prosecutor would talk the music would completely change becoming faster in rhythm, lower in tone, and more
