Company Background:
Apple Inc was founded on April 1, 1976 (incorporated January 3, 1977 as Apple Computer, Inc.). It is anAmerican multinational corporation that designs and sells consumer electronics, computer software, and personal computers. The company's best-known hardware products are the Macintosh line of computers, the iPod and the iPhone. (Wikipedia, 2012)
Product – iPad:
The iPad is a line of tablet computers, primarily as a platform for audio-visual media including books, periodicals, movies, music, games, apps and web content. Its size and weight fall between those of contemporary smartphones and laptop computers. The iPad runs on iOS, the same operating system used on Apple's iPod Touch and iPhone, and can run its own applications as well as iPhone applications. (Wikipedia, 2012)
The senior manager should consider this product because it is an innovative product and it combines the usage of a personal computer, laptop and a smartphone. Moreover, the feature of the product which can be used anywhere quickly for each consumer usage.
Brief Background:
Apple Inc. has high brand equity and has been always associated with innovative product. They have set benchmarks in respect of technology in the industry.
Competitors:
Microsoft had released an unsuccessful product line with the product “Microsoft Tablet PC” during 2000’s. Thus iPad which is going to be released in 2010 will be the leader of this product line. However, it has indirect competitors such as PC’s, Smartphones and Laptop computers. Some of the main competitors are Acer, Asus, Dell, Samsung. (Wikipedia, 2012)

The materials used to make the iPad Mini are perfect and don't feel cheap like other tablets. I just couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I was skeptic about the iPad size though. I always thought it was a little to big, so when I heard about the iPad Mini I knew it was going to be perfect. I ordered my iPad Mini from the Apple Store at Ross Park. I ended up picking black slate since before having a white iPad. The customer service at the Apple Store was great and I had my iPad Mini in no time. After opening the iPad Mini the feel of it was great. It fit perfectly in your hands while typing or reading a book. I was expecting it to be a little lighter in weight but it is still comfortable holding with one hand.
