Our company’s mission is to become a leading factor in the sale of products and services to the newspaper production industry. We aspire to carry a reputation in our marketplace of being a single source for existing consumable press parts and specialty tapes, as well as being the go to company for new and innovative, cost saving, quality enhancing products and services. THE COMPANY

U.M.I. was incorporated in the state of Florida in 1993. We are manufacturers and distributors of parts, specialty pressure sensitive tape products and services for the production of daily and weekly newspapers. The legal name of the business is Uhrig & MacKenzie, Incorporated, d.b.a./ U.M.I.

U.M.I. is an “S” Corporation. Our principal offices are located at 2821-A Worth Avenue, Englewood, Florida 34224.
STRATEGIC ALLIANCES

U.M.I. has developed important and profitable strategic alliances and exclusive marketing agreements with several larger and more established businesses.

For example, We have developed exclusive marketing agreements with:

• Lohmann Technologies of Hebron, KY • 3M Company • Support Products of Effingham, IL • The Flint Ink Company

Lohmann Technologies is a world leader in the manufacture of medical and industrial pressure sensitive tapes. Through a concerted effort, we have been able to secure 20% percent of sales of these products to the newspaper industry.

Support Products is a recognized leader in the manufacture of various equipment used by both commercial printers as well as newspapers. We have an exclusive marketing agreement to sell a new and unique cost saving, quality enhancing, anti-fanout device that has the potential to be utilized by every major newspaper that prints with color.

We have developed a strategic alliance with the printing products division of the 3M Company. 3M has asked us to help distribute and market newly patented pressure sensitive tape utilized in the production of newspapers. This side by side positioning will help us to increase our market presence via the use of 3M sales personnel around the country and that company’s enormous resources.

The Flint Ink Company, PSU Division [Press Support Unlimited] Flint Ink is the largest supplier of newspaper ink in the world with yearly sales in excess of $1,500,000,000.00. They employ 300+ sales persons in the United States and 150+ in South and Central America. Of the 300 in the USA, 60 are newspaper specialists. They are managed by four (4) regional managers. It is our mutual intent to leverage the PSU sales force and become the premier supplier of newspaper press consumables and services.

THE MARKET AND THE MARKET SEGMENT

We are competing in a niche industry of after market parts and services to the newspaper production industry.

The market consists of approximately 1500 daily and 2000 weekly newspapers. We are currently servicing 200 of these newspapers. Because of several factors, including the bankruptcy (Chap. 11) of the Goss Company, a worldwide leader of newspaper presses and parts and an economy which has caused newspapers to repair rather than replace parts.

Our customers purchase parts that are required for day to day production. These products have a high obsolescence factor due to the high demand made on them. We note these as consumables parts and every newspaper uses one form or another. We also supply those not so ordinary parts needed for emergency repairs.

We have recently formed a field service division that can perform preventative maintenance and repair presses.

COMPETITION

We compete directly with the OEMs (Goss, TKS, Mitsubishi) as well as a few established and newly formed companies. However, none of these competitors possesses the variety, experience and exclusive arrangements that U.M.I. possesses. We have a competitive advantage because of our brand recognition with major nationally known newspapers and our ability to deliver superior quality combined with competitive pricing. We have the unique ability to respond to our customers needs and to assist them in their goals of improving quality and reducing operating costs.

RISK/OPPORTUNITY

The greatest risk confronting us today is not being in a position of being able to grow and service our current and potential customer base. The opportunities before us are significant. We have the opportunity to become a major factor in our industry by increasing our exposure, fortifying our sales, and marketing efforts. We feel that with PSU, 3M, and UMI Alliance in place that we could increase sales significantly in 1- 2 years. We expect to double, perhaps triple, our sales in that time period. We believe that this is a very conservative estimate.

We plan to promote our products through a proposed advanced website, newly created brochures, postcards and select trade shows. The objective of our promotions is to educate our current and proposed customers as to the depth of our product lives and services.

U.M.I. currently enjoys a customer base of approximately two hundred (200) newspapers. This number represents a mix of major and minor “dailies” as well as many smaller “weeklies”. Annual sales range from $7000,000.00 to $1,000,000.00 with an average profit margin of 25%.
