At stake are the polemics over the extent of impact children’s socialization brings to the society and that whether we have gripped the pith of effective upbringing of children. In my view, however, I am hard pressed to consent with the speaker’s claim; the fruition of the destiny of society springs from multiple factors and that if the socialization of children is the sole litmus test dominating the well-being of the society, then we all prove well in raising our children based on the underlying status quo of the society.

Consider the speaker’s first claim about the significance of children’s socialization. Admittedly, at first blush, hardly can we deny the profound contribution children’s socialization bestows to the whole society. By complying with the mores and rules stipulated by a certain culture, which by definition illustrates the core meaning of socialization, children have unintentionally shunned the potential pitfalls which might mire them and render themselves canker to the society. This is especially true when it comes to the college life. A fitting example which aptly supports my claim is the campus shooting crimes. Ill-bred and totally secluded from the outside world, those brutal criminals were somehow insulated from any sort of socialization, thereby rendering themselves mavericks and ultimately resulted in these adversities. Were these students to gain proper opportunities to interact with peers of the same age and in turn learn to abide by the mores and rules, things like campus shooting would never occur in the future.

Nevertheless, unduly hyping the mighty power socialization exerts on shaping the society can barely mask the very notion that other factors, like inner conviction, perseverance, and love, also contribute profoundly to the uplift of the whole society. Franklin Roosevelt, assumed presidency at the nadir of his nation’s fortunes, lifted the despair hung over the America, replaced with a sense of hustling movement, a renewed confidence in the future, and a revived faith in democracy. Were he not to clasp the imperturbable sense of conviction, which motivated him to address any grave peril with a breezy turn, he would never redeem the United States from the very verge of collapse. Winston Churchill, once denounced in turn as charlatan, braggart, turncoat, and warmonger, clang tenaciously to his famous defiant vow--“we shall never surrender”— ultimately saved his nation and swept his people to greatness. Providing that Sir Churchill had once forgone his incredible perseverance, Britain would still have been shrouded in grief and panic. Though bridled at the inflexible system of rote learning, Albert Einstein never failed to conjure up astonishing notions of time and space and to change forever man’ perception of the enigmatic universe. Without the unfathomable love for science, especially physics, Albert Einstein could never herald the atomic age which dramatically improve the whole world. In short, all these staggering success would never come to exist in the absence of invaluable traits as conviction, perseverance and love.

Consider the author’s second contention as we have not yet secured the right path of raising children which could help attain a better society, I have to say that we are now applying the right approach towards children’s upbringing if the word “better” is defined as overall progress of the society. Stricken with the severe financial crisis, we have never compromised in the face of setback; instead, appropriate measures were adopted to curb the economic downturn, and gradually reverse the economy to its original track. The society is progressing. In short, these empirical evidences will flagrantly fly in the face of the speaker claim.
