...provides easy access to the different parts of the monitor particularly the printed circuits boards (PCB). To prevent accidental short-circuits and for safety purposes, test points were provided where voltages can be measured using a voltmeter or oscilloscope, without going to the printed circuit boards. In addition, simulation switches were also included in the design to simulate the common faults that may occur in a Liquid Crystal Display monitor. Simulation of faults is essential when doing laboratory experiments on the trainer, which conventional LCD monitors cannot provide. The trainer is also accompanied by a service manual and laboratory manual that will guide the instructor and students in the proper use of the instructional device. This study is relevant and timely owing to the popularity of LCD computer monitors nowadays and the absence of instructional/training devices in teaching skills in troubleshooting LCD monitors. This project is primarily developed to be used by the following: the instructors in computer teaching LCD monitor servicing; the instructors in electronics dealing with troubleshooting and repair of communication equipment; and trainers in the field of LCD monitor repair and troubleshooting. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) monitor trainer is divided into six blocks namely: the Power Supply, Main Circuit, Control Key, Test-Points Module, FaultSimulation Switch Module and the LCD Panel. Figure 11 shows the block diagram of the LCD monitor...

...Information IT/280 2/17/13 The upgrade from windows XP to Windows 7 is one that can be done fairly easily. The system requirements are as follows. * 1 gigahertz or faster 32-bit or 64-bit processor * 1 gigabyte of 32-bit ram or 2 GB of 64-bit ram * 16 GB of free hard drive space * Directx 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver. The CHS computer has a processor that can handle the change as it clocks at 1.8Ghz and only 1Ghz is needed. One concern is the system memory. The CHS computer has only 512 to 1GB of memory, I would recommend expanding it to 4GB but no less than 2GB to not hinder performance. Another main concern with the change would be device and software compatibility, something that is always a concern when changing operating systems. One way to check compatibility is to visit the compatibility center found at Microsoft.com. You can simply enter the name of your device or software in the search bar and it will give you the compatibility results. If we are installing Windows 7 professional then there is another download that can help with compatibility. Windows XP mode is a download that allows you to run older windows XP software on your Windows 7 PC. The CHS computer does not state what type of graphics card it has, this could also be an issue. Staff and user training can also be an issue when switching operating systems. Classes should be scheduled to go over basic use of the new operating system or a user manual should be provided...

...WEEK 10 ASSIGNMENT Employee Rights and Safety Protecting Safety and Health Case Incident Questions: The New Safety and Health Program Question 1: Based upon your knowledge of health and safety matters and your actual observations of operations that are similar to theirs, make a list of the potential hazardous conditions employees and others face at LearnInMotion.com. What should they do to reduce the potential severity of the top five hazards? Answer: I would suggest that LearnInMotion develop a Safety and Health Program that covers employees and employer. Begin by conducting a safety and health survey. The survey should cover the use and maintenance of Equipment, Work Practices, and OSHA Standards. The five top hazards that I can identify are: 1. Exposed wires and cables around the workstations and various areas are hazardous, they could potentially cause electrical fires, and damage to both employees and property. 2. Improper practices when servicing or installing equipment for the network, potentially are very damaging to those doing the servicing and the equipment being serviced. 3. The length of time that employees spend in front of computer screens and typing on the keyboards could result in eyestrain, back-strain and carpel tunnel syndrome 4. Lack of a safety program that covers employees and vendors from workplace hazards, what to do when they occur, and how to avoid them. 5. Situations such as the time that the employees spend working...

...The Spartan constitution created by Lycurgus was a distinct way to run a society of people. “ This theory of government was adopted by Plato, Diogenes, Zeno and all those who are praised for their attempts to make some statement about these matters… (Plut. Lyc. 31).” When looking at Plato’s Republic there are many similarities to the unique Spartan city-state. Ideas that were similar included, elimination of wealth, the ideas about woman, children, and marriage, and the training for the military soldiers. Another aspect that could have aided Plato’s Republic from the Spartan society was the council of Elders that represented the people. This system would allow the people to become more involved in the government and create a more secure system of checks and balances. The similarities between the Spartan society and the Republic made Plato’s ideal city stronger because it allowed the people to be closer in equality then previous systems of government and because of the acceptance of their social classes. The elimination of wealth in the Spartan society was implemented in Plato’s Republic. Both government ideals about erasing currency, trade, and unnecessary luxuries from the societies, personified people as being more accepting of their social classes. The citizens would not flaunt their riches to others because they did not possess more then they needed to be happy within their social classes. “…they are only fed, and not paid in addition to their food, like other men: and therefore...

...Employment-At-Will Doctrine Introduction Employment-At-Will is a common legal doctrine that an employment contract of indefinite duration can be terminated by either the employer or the employee at any given time for any reason. In essence, an employer can discharge an employee for any reason which can be good, bad, or no reason at all. At the same time, the employee is equally free to cease work at any time without giving a reason to the employer. This doctrine of Employment-At-Will has been well established in the American legal system since the 19th Century, but nowadays employers find it confusing and with potential liability. This paper will provide different scenarios where employees’ behaviors trigger the Employment-At-Will ruling and how the newly hire Chief Operating Officer (COO) should address these scenarios following the company policies and the law to limit the company’s liability, as well as, the Whistleblower Policy. Scenarios Scenario 1 John posted a rant on his Facebook page in which he criticized the company’s most important customer. In my opinion, the COO has grounds to fire John because there are several clauses in the employee handbook that talk about the limitations on sharing information of the company and its customers on social media such as Facebook. Specially, if John has placed the name of the company in his profile. John can be terminated immediately due to his critics against the company’s most important customer because this could lead...

The value proposition that JACG brings to the membership is defined in many area including procurement, sourcing, quality assurance and best in class consulting services for its member-owners. The AS400 system JACG has in place today is very antiquated. The system is more than 20 years old and has been customized to the juncture where the updates to the software suite provided by the manufacturer are no longer useful; it is not flexible, scalable or robust enough for our company in which it needs to go forward. Today our employees are doing many functions of their jobs out of the system and it has become a manual and cumbersome process. Relying on the human knowledge makes the functions our end users every expensive to train and maintain, along with increasing the transition costs having a very specialized workforce. Being a...

...EVALUATING WORK 1. JOB EVALUATION Job Evaluation is the process of systematically determining the relative worth of jobs to create a job structure for the organization. The evaluation is based on a combination of job content, skills required, value to the organization, organizational culture, and the external market. This potential to blend organizational forces and external market forces is both a strength and a challenge of job evaluation. 2. TYPES OF JOB EVALUATION JOB BASED Job-based employee performance evaluations focus on the duties of the position and the tasks required to perform them successfully. This is a standard type of evaluation you can use for all employees filling the same position. First you must perform a job analysis, separating all duties into large categories, such as essential functions and communication. Under the categories of the position, specify tasks required to fulfill them. Be thorough in your analysis and ask your manager or the human resources department to review it. This will be the performance plan for the position. Each employee will receive the plan, sign it and be reviewed formally at the end of the rating period based on the duties outlined. PERSON BASED A person-based evaluation is specific to each individual employee. It takes into consideration the knowledge, skills and abilities the employee possesses upon hire and learns in the course of the rating period. In this way, an employee is compensated fairly for...
